Hello all, I lived in Dar Es Salaam for a while back in my schooling years. When I went to school, I would typically get Zege/Chips Miyai or just chips and sausage for lunch.
I would always get pili pili too. For quite a few years I have been trying to replicate a recipe similar to what I had. The type of Pili pili I had was light green, with the occasional piece of something red in it.
Looking around on the internet most of the recipes I've found don't taste or seem like what I had.
I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have an authentic pili pili recipe for me to try? I have also been trying to find some red gold ketchup sauce but to no avail.
Appreciate it so much, thanks.
I’m flying to Dar from UK and then back in January. I require a PCR test within 48h of getting on the flight from Dar to Dubai. I am struggling find a PCR testing facility in Dar that can process a PCR test in time. Does anyone know same day testing facility in Dar? Has anyone recently flown from Dar to Dubai?
Are there any health retreats for elderly in or close to Dar Es Salaam? One of my friends parents are based there and her Dad is really old and not keeping well. I feel a vacation at a place will be really good for him. Are there any places you guys know of?
Hello. I’m a student spatial development in The Netherlands. This second half of the semester is about proposing a plan to resettle the unplanned housing alongside the riverbed in the Msimbazi river. For this project we need to find solutions for the problems like the flooding, unplanned housing and the urbanisation in general.
My group got the plot area Sukita assigned. We would love to hear how the situation is at that place. Since we are from a western country we do not know much about how the local economy, the household, the transportation, work/ jobs and norms and values are/ work.
It would be very helpful if someone could provide us from some insights to make our project reasonable, logical and realistic towards our (real) clients.
Our client would like us to come with a proposal to what is best for our area to implement the unplanned housing issue (mainly).
With the information we will have a better visualisation in what to assume about the environment in Sukita, Dar es Salaam.
Thank you for reading this far and we can not wait to read how Dar es Salaam is like!

I've done a lot of research online as to what to wear but I have seem some conflicting reports. I will be in Dar next week on business, and Zanzibar for two days, and want to pack accordingly. As a white female westerner, what is ok? Is a skirt/dress just above the knee okay or is showing knee bad? Are slim fitting trousers okay or are baggy better? For shirts, a short sleeve or capped sleeve is fine, right? And should I be wearing long sleeves in Stone Town or are short sleeves okay there too?
Thank you for any advice! Asante!
