I've never listened to swans and i have the urge to get into their music but i'm not sure which album to listen to first. I'm currently between to be kind and soundtracks for the blind as those are the ones i've heard the most buzz about but they're both 2+ hours long and thats a pretty large time commitment for a single album. Any thoughts?
Because it’s the right thing to do and our man puts a lot of work into these releases.

i have the google drive for live rope but its missing a few tracks, does anyone have them? also followup question (oddly specific) does anyone have mp3s of the album but with an album cover mp3 tag built into it. i just like looking at cover art while listening lmao
To those who resist the urge to listen to the leak. I can guarantee this is the up there as one of the best live albums from swans. Up there with swans are dead and public castration. You are in for it.
On this special 100th episode of the podcast I talk horror scores with the great Dana Schechter of Insect Ark and Swans. We talk a bit about the new Insect Ark album and we talk a lot about our love of Mandy and other killer films and scores.

Talking about Live Rope of course.
Where the hell did that come from? I double checked to make sure if I'm listening to the same album. What a fuckin banger. Felt like something straight out of a David Lynch movie.
I haven't been a Swans fan for very long, only since The Beggar came out, so this is the first time I've been around for a live fundraiser album. I am aware there is a Google Drive with all the not on streaming stuff on there, and personally I don't see a problem with it if you can no longer buy it. The funds have already been raised, the next album can, will, and/or has been made. It's not like the fundraisers are bad listening experiences, I still see people still talk about Deliquescence to this day almost as much as The Seer or even Soundtracks For The Blind.
However, there is a solid argument to be made for the other side. After all, why buy it from Young God if it will just get leaked in a couple months anyway? Though, as for why I'm pro leaking, that's because streaming is an established thing, and every main Swans album, even The Burning World, is on at least Spotify, not sure about others. The only difference for the stuff not on streaming is that it's just slightly harder to listen to, but it's still free, and there's obviously enough of an audience who are willing and able to buy any of the various physical versions. Lastly, to clarify, if the leak happened before the album was sold out, perhaps by a Young God employee or something, that is absolutely shitty and I really think there's no argument to be made for that.
not sure if this will get taken down, but heres the drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1wBBrpyevthFPJuSlSUe-BCwq7epEyh89
its missing two tracks.
I attended this tour twice, and I have watched the bootlegs countless times. Does anyone else agree that all the songs feel quicker (e.g., the initial guitar strum in Rope, the heavy drums during the break down of the Beggar)? Either Gira chose a show in which the songs were played slightly faster, he edited them, or there is something wrong with the audio rip).
ive heard a lot of people talking about soulseek and swans archives being on there but i dont have a computer to download it on, and i cant find anything on the website, literally. can anyone help me out?
What do you guys think of the audio quality of the leaks? I think it sounds pretty damn good but i hear people complaining about the bitrate(which is around 240-250kbps depending on where you download it from) Do you think it will sound noticeably better in the CD/Vinyl mixes? Are the leaks just future streaming versions? What is going on lol (AOTY already btw)
Oh My GOD, the Last climax on the recorded Version of birthing is absolutely spine chilling
So I saw this just now???? What’s going on
live rope has leaked on the strangest platform imaginable but this confirms at least to me that it will see a streaming release. i ripped the files off instagram and compared it to the snippet michael posted to instagram and i’m 100% convinced this is the real deal. not sure if mods would be happy if i shared around a link so for now i won’t but if u want it go and rip it urself while u can
i know gira denied it but seeing that it leaked on insta music is so weird. do you think its just a leak or did the man change his mind?
Is "feel good now" on 2x lp worth it for 21 euros, I need an other person than me to wake up my lazy and greedy ass and go to that record store (there's so love of life for 29 but I ain't buying this one
Has it dropped yet on any streaming platforms?
In my mini-project of listening to all of Swans discography I discovered this track. I had never listened to it before and it was amazing. I think it is one of Swans' best early tracks, and I would even dare to say it's better than some songs on Filth (sorry if that's blasphemy). What do you guys think about it?
