Other subreddits:
/r/birding focuses on birding/birdwatching. It's a great place do show birds you saw on a birding trip or hike, ask about birding equipment and practices, discuss good places to go birdwatching, talk about eBird, and related topics.
/r/birdpics is dedicated to posting bird photos that you've taken yourself.
/r/whatsthisbird is the reddit for posting pictures of birds you want to identify. If your question is "what kind of bird is this", that's the place to post! When posting to /r/whatsthisbird, always remember to include both the time (date or season) and place (general geographical location) in your post title.
/r/wingspan/ for the awesome, popular board game about birds.
Although we think there should be a separate subreddit for discussions about keeping domesticated / pet birds, /r/petbirds appears to be abandoned at this time. There are subreddits for specific species of birds people commonly keep, so you can search https://www.reddit.com/subreddits for your pet bird's species to see if there's a sub for it.
We do still allow some posts here that might better fit in one of those other subreddits, but consider whether your post more clearly fits into one of those and if so, we encourage you to post there.

Hey friends, can you help me figure out what these birds are? Some are relatively easy whereas others are obscure to my eyes at least!
Thanks in advance :)
The name Swale rings a bell in my head as a bird name, but i dont have a clue about birds. Ive been googling the name but i havent found anything out. Anyone know what bird i might be thinking of??
What’s some ideas to keep them warm? I was informed that they are sensitive to the cold. Or in general for all my babies. Suggestions? Thanks!
I saw a group of three swans in a river with a dead swan. One of the swans was sitting on top of the dead swan and ‘riding’ it as they all travelled down the river. The other swans were also pecking at the dead swan. Does anyone know if this is normal? What does this mean? Thank you!
I have a bird feeder in my backyard, so tons of birds come to eat. Unfortunately falcons keep coming and eating the birds. What can I do to prevent this??
Hello everyone! I’ve checked the rules and I think this is okay but if not please remove. I am a Biology student at the University of Lincoln (UK) and I am conducting a bit of research into the diet of parrots and would love to hear what you guys think. This is part of a graded assignment so please answer honestly. The survey is totally anonymous so other participants and myself will not know what you have answered.
It should only take around five minutes, thank you so much for your time.
So I live in india, mostly common birds around here are pigeons and crows, but I saw this rare pair of birds, never seen this is type of birds in my entire life, what are they?? Are they common in india?? Do they migrate?!
I have a feeder in my garden that birds (especially tits) visit irregularly. During breeding season and in winter they appear more often.
During the last couple of weeks I didn’t see any come by though. I left the seeds hanging outside, however now they’re back. I’m just wondering what the best approach of offering seeds is? I’m afraid that they go bad, but I also don’t want them to think there is no good anymore and not come back. So what is the best approach of switching out the seeds, how long can I leave them, and will birds even eat seeds that are no good anymore?
Thanks!
I found a little bird trapped on the sticky insect catcher I have in my kitchen. It's similar to fly tape but more heavy duty for wasps and hornets. I don't know the brand as my mom is the one who got it. All I know it's it's very gooey and this poor bird was trapped on it for some period of time as I didn't find it until after dark. It's very small, a little bit bigger than the zebra finches I used to have. Unfortunately it's wing is covered in the goo and it holds its wing at an odd angle. Idk if it's bc of the goo or if its injured. I have a bird carrier as I used to have some as pets, but I don't have food. I put it in and it's actively trying to get out, which gives me some hope with the bird being energetic. but from the amount of down and feathers on the bug strip I'm not sure the poor thing could fly anr I'm not having much luck freeing the wing from goo. It's so delicate I don't want to hurt it. What should I do? My next move is the use warm water and dawn dish soap to try and remove the goo from the remaining feathers to survey the damage but I'm not sure if the water would be bad for the bird when it's chilly at night. I also know what damage a trauma like this can do to a bird. What should I do to help?
I live in a very small town and I don't think our animal control lady could do anything as she almost exclusively helps dogs. A local reserve might be an option though.
There's also another male (I'd assume) blue jay that sits near this one
It was eating a baby bunny in our back yard.
Sure! Here's the translation into English:
Hello everyone, I’m currently working on a nesting box for my girlfriend. I will install a camera. Now to my main question: Is the box big enough with a base area of about 80 cm²? The box gets wider towards the top and has a height of about 22 cm.
I’ve roughly assembled it from leftover materials to get an idea of how it would look.
I’d appreciate any feedback or criticism.
