Other subreddits:
/r/birding focuses on birding/birdwatching. It's a great place do show birds you saw on a birding trip or hike, ask about birding equipment and practices, discuss good places to go birdwatching, talk about eBird, and related topics.
/r/birdpics is dedicated to posting bird photos that you've taken yourself.
/r/whatsthisbird is the reddit for posting pictures of birds you want to identify. If your question is "what kind of bird is this", that's the place to post! When posting to /r/whatsthisbird, always remember to include both the time (date or season) and place (general geographical location) in your post title.
/r/wingspan/ for the awesome, popular board game about birds.
Although we think there should be a separate subreddit for discussions about keeping domesticated / pet birds, /r/petbirds appears to be abandoned at this time. There are subreddits for specific species of birds people commonly keep, so you can search https://www.reddit.com/subreddits for your pet bird's species to see if there's a sub for it.
We do still allow some posts here that might better fit in one of those other subreddits, but consider whether your post more clearly fits into one of those and if so, we encourage you to post there.

Saw this little guy as i walked outside a few minutes ago. Fairly sure its either a downy or hairy woodpecker, but would love to confirm what it is. Figured Reddit was my best option because as much as i liked birds as a kid, i cant tell the difference between some of them now.
It's cold where I live and I have a heated birth bath to keep the water from freezing. Normally I would change the water in the morning, wiping out any droppings or gunk, but for the sake of time I am wondering if I can do so in the evening instead?
Hi, I need some help here. I have just gotten seven finches, now down to five because of a baby brown tree snake. Very common since I live in the bush in Australia.
Is there anyway I can keep the snakes from getting into a big Avery I have? I can’t use the 4 mm wire because I do not have six hundred dollars to buy it, since I will need quite a lot for the cage. And I’m only a teenager who doesn’t have a job to save up the money for it yet.
Any suggestions or am I just going to have to hang the branches from the roof of the cage so only the birds can get up there?
The original buyer said that it's a pigeon. Yes, I did (hand) fed it with rice grains, cooked rice and corn. That's all we have available here.
But for some god knows what reason, it still won't stop screaming and pecking at every person it sees. I'm at a loss here.

I might get another feeder to hang. But this is my first true feeder for my new home. Hopefully it wont bother the neighbors 😂

My cockatiel has a red open-leg band that reads A4590. Me and my family can't figure out the information about him based on his leg band. So can you guys help? Also, my cockatiel is a male and his leg band is on his right leg.
I was sad to find a dead dove in my yard this morning. I'm trying to figure out how it could have died. There's no obvious signs of trauma, it doesn't look like it was sick. It just looks like it nestled down to rest, and died. Maybe it was too cold for it last night, the low was 28 degrees F. What do you do to help birds shelter during winter?
I have
🙃
This is the first time I've ever posted one of my images. I'm stuck in my home, right on Lake Erie, and my back room is flooding from the snow, but I don't really care. I still love a good blizzard and I love the creatures in and around my home.
So for context, I live in Iowa. It's freezing cold at night and the sun goes down at about 5PM these days.
However, most days (not all though) between the hours of 7-10 PM, I can very clearly hear the "fee-bee" call of a black-capped chickadee near my window. It sings for maybe 20-30 minutes and then stops.
I've done some research and the species is not only diurnal, but they don't even mate in the winter and the "fee-bee" call is apparently a mating call. Does anyone know what's up with this one bird?
He sits on the tree, then flies up to my window, screams, flies back to rest and then repeats. What's wrong with it?
I was walking in the wetlands park in las vegas and saw this birdy chilling. Just curious as to what they are.
There’s a Hawk that I noticed has been hanging out on my balcony lately.
Is he just hunting around? I have a bird feeder.
