Hii! I (F18) been trying to apply for a while at my local Starbucks but I’ve always been turned down because their team was full back then. Recently, they became low staff and are currently hiring for morning shifts i believe. As much as i always wanted to work there i would like to know what’s the reality of being a barista before i apply. ( I’ve worked as a shift supervisor for over 2 years in a fast food chain if that can help in any ways lol) Any information would be helpful since i want to be mentally prepared as much as i can!

I open today. At 4:30am, it’s 3:00am I woke up feeling terrible. Everyone at my store is getting sick so it’s already been short staffed. I only work weekends (as of 2 weeks ago) because I go to school full time (I am a nursing student), and I live 40 minutes from my store.

Would it be appropriate to call out once someone gets to the store at 4:30am? I’m worried bc the weekend SSV is a little strict and I know would hate me for calling out without cover. But then again I would hate to go in sick. Maybe I’ll just suck it up 😭

Hi, so I I just submitted an application to Starbucks. My question is would it be a good idea to call in maybe 2-3 days after and say I submitted an application. Would it perhaps seem to eager?

I was recently hired in as a Shift Lead. I am over 40 (ok… 41) and have an extensive background in customer service and food service. I’m a trained third wave barista and chef. I’ve run multiple successful restaurants and cafes over the years and my last position was General Manager of a restaurant.. got burnt out, pivoted to Starbucks for the benefits and possible college opportunities. Thought it would be easier but… DEEYYYYUMMM. The drink combinations and register are killing me.. not to mention the many very important tasks that have been glazed over in my 2 weeks of training.

Getting cold feet. Think I might roll out. I repeat, I was burnt out and seeking something finite and less taxing.

Any advice from the “other side”?

I am begging you from the bottom of my heart… please have your payment method ready, card reloaded, cash out, BEFORE you reach the window. 😭 ESPECIALLY if you had cars AHEAD of you before pulling up. And please do your best to pull away from the window as soon as possible. It DESTROYS our drive through times which is something the company really pushes so it stresses all of us out. Please try to be more mindful when picking up your DT order.

Very small thing with the whole writing on cups thing; but man, I can barely write, or draw.

A lot of my coworkers are artists or generally creative types so they all are really good with writing and drawing stuff on the fly, and my manager today was like ‘just pick something from the list if you can’t think of anything!’ which is nice! but-

I’m right handed, but was taught left handed because my elementary school sucked so I’m basically just really really badly ambidextrous. I can barely write on regular paper so when I do anything on the cups it looks like scribbles :(. Idk it just sucks to have a requirement to draw/write nice and silly things when I really would rather have someone who actually can do that kind of thing do it. I’m not a creative type at all and never really have been so I just kinda feel inadequate at my job when I’m 10x slower doing the cup thing than everyone else, when this isn’t a job that should require art stuff, lol. Not sure how others will view this post but I just feel kinda crappy after I got the side eye view from our new ASM like 12 times =w=

Has anyone not gotten their Lyft pass today. I haven’t gotten mine and had to walk home in the rain wasn’t fun. 😭😭

Hello everyone! I've been staying with my family in another state for awhile and started a job at starbucks. I decided to take my schooling online from my hometown. Over time it has become difficult. I want to transfer but I understand the written 6 month rule before transfering. Is there anyway around this or is that final?

i just got back from vacation that was almost two weeks and i’m almost certain i got sick while i was gone and feel AWFUL. will i get in trouble if i have to call out?

How long do you think they’ll keep it mandatory? We’ve already had people call and complain about their partners getting ANY sort of message on their cup. Also how long until people get mad they didn’t get a note like everyone else?

okay so let’s say i get the strawberry açaí refresher with green tea (instead of water/coconut milk/lemonade/etc.) let’s say I get the ingredients to make this at home,, what’s the ratio?? is it one part strawberry açaí base and one part green tea?

I'm a partner, and I'm trying to recreate a customers matcha green tea latte using the new matcha.

Her old recipe was 6 stevia, 6 scoops matcha, and 2 percent milk.

Her new recipe that I created which tastes nearly identical is 6 matcha (even scoops), 6 stevia, 6 sugar packets, 1-2 classic, 1 sugar free vanilla, and .5 white mocha.

The new recipe is like 380 calories. Maybe 400 if I'm calculating individual ingredients, so I'm trying to see how close I am to the old formula

This is iced and venti. If anyone knows what the calories to the old matcha was or the calories per scoop of the old matcha, that would be awesome

About a month ago my I tried to access my account to see how much money I had (I knew it was less than $20) but I was unable to access my account, it required I change my password and log in. When I did that an error would pop up stating try again later. So eventually I chatted with one of the online representatives which said they would escalate the issue and closed the chat. I didn’t hear from anyone for days so I filed a complaint with the BBB and the same day someone reached out telling me to do a laundry list of actions to try to get the account back, I tried but again at this point I just wanted my money back. So after I tried and couldn’t get my account back they stated I had been blocked because I violated term and conditions based on my location, aka I am not in the USA when I opened my app. They said my account had been blocked and they ended the conversation with “let me know if you have any further questions “ UMMMM… my money tf. They thought they would end the conversation there but I went off stating they’re stealing my money. I got refunded 7$ lol which is hilarious because I knew I had a small amount but the principal of them keeping my money bothered me so much. Reading how much other people lost made me want to do it even more.

She was trying to cause a spectacle because there was too much foam in her latte (wasn’t even her drink). I decided to be nice and just make her drink right away without correcting her because she’s a regular, when she reaches over the bar and dumps someone else’s drink into the freaking ice bin. I couldn’t say anything other than “what….are you doing?” She went back onto her tippy toes, looked down, and said “I thought that was a sink. (Looks down again) Is that not a sink?” Oh yeah, that’s our special ice sink. Super food safe, communal, not very accessible to customers, but if you go wayyyy out of your way just to make a scene, it’s all yours.

Some stores have started. I’ve done thanks-a-latte for latte, strawberry good choice for açaí, and hug in a cup for hot chocolate so far.

i’ve been seeing A LOT of videos online of girlfriends getting mad at baristas for writing things like “see you next time, come again soon, enjoy” on their boyfriends drinks. some people even talk about how they almost broke the relationship up due to the new policy. i just want to say how the hell is that our problem lol. don’t get mad at us for doing our job 🧍🏻‍♀️.

Today for the first time of my 3 years at Starbucks I meet a customer in the drive through that has won the Starbucks 4 life.
