Spider-Man: Blue | Spider-Man: Blue: Spider-Man: Blue (Spider-Man: Blue #1-6). A limited series in which Peter is reminiscing events and encounters from his past and how he and Gwen Stacy fell in love.
Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt | Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt: (ASM Vol 1/1963 #293-294, Spectacular Spider-Man Vol 1/1976 #131-132, Web of Spider-Man #31-32). A rightly beloved classic set very early during the Peter/MJ marriage, with a lot of raw emotion and drama, full of psychology and dark storytelling.
The Alien Costume Saga | The Alien Costume Saga: (ASM Vol 1/1963 #252-263, Spectacular Spider-Man Vol 1/1976 #90-100, Web of Spider-Man #1). A bit long, but features some truly great stuff and has very often been misrepresented in media. This is not the story you may think you know from other adaptations and has a lot going for it like Black Cat.
If This Be My Destiny... | If This Be My Destiny...: (ASM Vol 1/1963 #31-33). This storyline really highlights what makes Spider-Man work so well, letting Peter Parker's character truly shine with compelling drama.
Happy Birthday | Happy Birthday: (ASM Vol 2/1999 #57-58, 500-502). Doctor Strange sends Spider-Man through time and space in order to help stop Dormammu. During his trip he encounters all of his greatest friends and foes.
Ock/Owl Gang War | Ock/Owl Gang War: (Spectacular Spider-Man #73-79). One of the hands down best Otto Octavius storylines and one of the last times he was relevant for nearly a decade, this story also is the groundwork for the budding romance between Black Cat and Spider-Man that took hold in the early 1980s. Often an overlooked gem despite its immense historical impact on the webslinger.
Back to Basics | Back to Basics : (ASM Vol 5/2018 #1-5). As the title says, it is back to the basics of what makes Spider-Man great and is the best the book has been in yeaaaars. This run is ongoing and the first arc is very new-reader friendly. |

Venom: Lethal Protector | Venom: Lethal Protector: (Venom: Lethal Protector #1-6). The recent Venom film is based on this 6 issue miniseries and although it's not the greatest storyline, it is a pretty good solo outing for Venom and a good start to his run as an antihero.
Sinister Spider-Man | Sinister Spider-Man: (Dark Reign: Sinister Spider-Man #1-4). Mac Gargan is often regarded as one of the worst hosts for the Venom symbiote. And while I generally agree, this often overlooked 4-part miniseries really is something special. Written by Brian Reed, we see Mac working for Norman Osborn’s Dark Avengers and how he handles being disguised as Spider-Man. The miniseries is delightfully twisted and laugh out loud funny. Reed’s writing is complemented with fantastic art by Chris Bachalo.
Venom | Venom: Flash Thompson is given a chance to serve his country, on the condition he joins with the Venom Symbiote to become a hero once more.
Spider-Girl | Spider-Girl: One of the first and longest running Marvel alternate universes remains the MC2, and for good reason! Meet Mayday Parker, daughter of the Amazing Spider-Man. Mayday remains what the standard of a legacy character should be, she is similar to her father but with a few core values changed. Seeing the supporting casts of classic ‘90s Spider-Man comics in this new but familiar world is always a treat and it really feels like what could have been had editorial been a bit different. |

I made a post recently about why I didn't really like Across The Spiderverse and my issues with the cannon event stuff. People didn't really agree or like what I said but that's fine, it's a discussion that's the whole point. Then a mod commented on my post "That's the point of the movie, also this is a tired post," And then deleted the post. I'm sorry, I didn't know just sharing my opinion was considered "tired." Does this subreddit talk about there issues with Across The Spiderverse all the time or something? How is just sharing my opinion considered "tired?" Am I in the wrong for talking about this subject somehow?
Pretty much what the title is asking, I’ve been collections every epic collection that has been printed for Amazing Spider-Man, and I saw that they announced recently the modern ear of the epic collections beginning with issue 30, which I’m okay with but I was wondering if that means they won’t include the Byrne’s run in the original epic collections or if I have to go and buy the Amazing Spider-Man: The Next Chapter run, because I was hoping to avoid that just because i would like my collections to all be the same types of prints, if that makes sense
Iconic spread page
I started playing marvel spider-man 2 a few weeks ago and it looks amazing
I really like the character in movies, animated series, videogames, etc. I'm currently reading digitally the new Ultimate Spiderman (people told me not bother to read the current version of the mainstream one) all and I have pick up a few issues here and there in digital formats.
Now I want to own my first Spidey comic. Could you recommend me one to buy?
Hello all, I’m sure the majority of you are familiar with the short film made by Corridor Crew Spider-Man Cake Day. I know the suit is VFX the majority of the time, but is there any physical costumes out there for purchase that is the same on from the short?
The Hellspinner makes a blazing return!
Or was he inspired by a costumed murder? Or did he appropriate the culture of an indigenous Amazon tribe?
You can check it out here if interested
So I’m trying to look for some kind of TPB of the child within story by JMD, but I’m not sure there is one. Oh and BTW, are the 189 and 200 issues of SS part of the story?
Laura is a teenager at this post whilst Peter is a full grown man, who at worst is in his late 20's (but imo he should be 30)
(Yes I know this specific version of the symbiote isn't affected by fire but you know what I mean) Yes the symbiote makes him stronger, faster and more aggressive but those are pretty much useless when loud sounds are used. Heck you don't even need that much prep tyme to figure it out, most of his opponents figured it out mid battle.
This is just off the cuff I wanna vent about the objectively stupid way the character has been written in because of Nick Lowe like how can you tare down such an iconic character like this and be proud and actively gass light your readers into thinking they are the problem? Cause there is no way the writers of spider man we've had for these last few runs are proud of the work they've done when they should have the right to gloat and parade the fact they got to right one of the most iconic characters in entertainment history which should be seen as a badge of honour and achievement but instead It'll just be a stain of embarrassment on their legacy as a writer hell I'd even argue that the higher ups at marvel aren't proud and probably mock Nick in their circles but their bottom line isn't affected so they won't step in and say 'no this isn't spider-man nobody can relate to the guy anymore'
Like look at ultimate Spider-Man people love that because that is how the character should be written as he's strong, independent, cares about his family and friends is confident in his abilities and has the confidence to back up his banter (which is actually funny) why can't he be like this in his main title? Why does he have to unironically be ok with mj betraying him for Paul and actively seek out a relationship with the two of them? Why is Peter ranting to a child (Spider boy) about his problems and why does said child have a healthy balance of his personal and superhero persona? Hell even miles does and he's a vampire currently (I think I don't read his books) if you want to write about how much spider-man cannot balance his life write it for the one who is still a teen not an almost 30 yo man it doesn't make Peter relatable it makes him sad to read.
We all understand that a character who has such prestige as Spider-Man has to be written within certain guidelines as that's what makes them so iconic but when you don't flirt and actively challenge these guidelines the character cannot move forward and will be stuck in a repetitive cycle. I'm not saying he has to be married to MJ and have a family that doing this will fix the character as it won't his flaws are much deeper than this and at the minute it's too late for that as that would need build up that actually matters and is important which they have no intention of this which is ok, Peter is allowed other love interests but when you don't explore these relationships and just write him as 'well his good ol' parker luck strikes again true believers' is it any wonder why people are so vocal about the way the editorial team especially nick treats Spider-Man and then they have the nerve to be like you are wrong you don't know the character that is ludicrously brain dead dumb when you're going out of your way to degrade the character whenever you get the opportunity for no reason.
We are sick to death of your two steps back one step forward mentality like you have the opportunity to make the character as great as he can be and foster that mentally and help nurture the writers on the book to be the best they can be but you'd rather strip them of all their creativity and limit them to your sublime self insert stories when nobody whats that including yourself when you do it out of spite and ego to purposely hold the character back instead of letting the team properly write spider-man and move on with his future.
Again if you don't want him with MJ that's ok but you cannot keep writing Peter as this loser fuck up who doesn't do anything right and is constantly shooting himself in the foot as that's only part of the character not all of who he is, he should be a beacon of hope for others as.well as other heroes and that's all we want Peter to be. If you're on the editorial team especially you nick (doubt they'd ever even see this but alas) ask yourself is this truly the lasting legacy you want to leave as your mark on such an iconic character when you have the potential to make spider-man amazing, spectacular even and it's not too late to change the direction either you'd be surprised by how much people would be willing to support you if you decide to change course but I guess we're all just talking to a brick wall with a vending machine that only says thank you for your transaction and nothing more in a constant state of stagnation when the solution is right there for the writing.
I basically wanted an idea where the symbiote didn’t make Spider-Man evil, but this is just my design on it.
