Now that Solar Powered Vehicles are closer to being commercially available, this sub is back open for posting.

Thanks to the original subscribers who have stayed around. PM me if you wish to be added as mods. Lets make this a spot to foster the revived interest in solar vehicles as the technology is maturing to make this more practical.

Autonomous SPEV circumnavigation

I'm wondering if there is anyone working on this project.

I doubt that it is 'my' idea but this has been bouncing about in my head for a bit. Using flexible solar cell sails, roller reefing (main and head sails), gps, sat weather and radar it seems feasible for a small sailboat to circle with world with no one aboard.

Powered by the sun and wind, controlled by a penguin, it would be the first un-maned circumnavigation.

anyone know of some group or individual working on this?
