Sound System Culture - BASS PORN - Big Ass Bass Stacks
!! NOT FOR CAR/HOME AUDIO !!
Talk about / drool over sound systems and sound gear.
Post your compact portable PAs, road gear, big concert rigs. Post pics of huge speaker stacks and amp racks - BASS PORN! Old rickety Jamaican sound systems or the latest-and-greatest high-tech line arrays, whatever's clever.

Hey Guys, I´m currently building a small soundsystem. A friend of mine has the exact same Subs and Kicks and obviously we want to run them together. We are planing to use a XLR-Splitter but I don't have any experience with these. So my Question is, are some XLR-Y-Cables enough or is it better to buy real XLR-Splitter hardware (for example Behringer MX882 V2). We just want to split the Main Out from our Mixer to 2 Separate DSPs Main Inputs so 2to4. Does anyone have some experience with this and/or can recommend a XLR-Splitter Option?
Do mid bass cabs have to have specific characteristics to fit the subwoofer, or do i just have to tune them accordingly?
Dumb question but I wanted to know if this could be a good idea or if for some reason they don't sound good togheter, and if they don't, why?
Beginner here! Wondering if anyone has opinions on how these cabs synergise together. I’ll be starting with two drivers per band and move up to four, far off in the future.
We’ve got: X1 subs for the deepest lows Cubo Kick 15’s for kick tops and a punch you in the chest feeling MT 102’s to fill out the rest of the frequencies
Thanks for any opinions
I recently just bought 4 2x18 yorkville subs, 2 of them are LS1004 and the other two are ES1004. They are powered by qsc plx3402 amps so they got enough power. When i first tested them out they sounded blown with a really bad scraping sound, but when i pushed the drivers manually with my hand, no scraping noise of the coil could be heard. After some pushing on the drivers by hand they played a lot better, but they have no real output power, kinda hard to explain, they Shake stuff, but you hardly hear any bass. My first thought was phase problems, but it seemed unlikely because there was absolutely no bass, just a little bit in a corner right in front of one of them. I have played them in a Huge room with tall ceiling, experimented with tons of placement, and i have tried it in my living room wich is kinda big too.
I found out they have been stored in a damp room over the years, so my thought is that the coils had some corrosion on them wich rubbed away when pushing them manually. But that doesn’t explain the bass problem.
Any experts in here who could give me some advice?

I’m doing some winter installs at a ski area for two different daytime events that will run almost every day. I haven’t done long term rentals before and wondering the proper rate compared to my daily rate to charge per month ? It’s a decent amount of equipment for medium to large ski parties
so basically i asked chat gpt what it would do to build a soundsystem for tekno with a budget of 3000 euro and this is what it said, I would like your opinions if this would be good or bad money wise:
I would love to go to a dance of such a soundsystem. Any hints?
this might be my favourite setup so far, 4x hogs laid down, 3x es18s and 2x 308s on the newly finished tiltboard
hogs powered by 1 Infinte 8, kicks and midtops with 2 small powersoft M-series, all controlled via Salt & Pepper preamp and custom dc8000
all handbuilt in the mountains of styria 🔊🏔️🔥
Hi,
Any experience with the - RCF SUB 705-AS MK3 Vs. FBT X SUB 115SA
Application is small 50-150 people, indoors. Dub and techno.
Tops are 2 x RCF ART 912. Going to start w one bassbin as 18's may make more sense down the road anyway and initial rooms are small.
25x25' FT 40x40' FT
Portability is important.
RCF 40-120hz 1400W FBT 42-120hz 1200W
Theoretically the RCF is slightly better. Costs are comparable.
Help with first build
Hello everybody, I recently acquired the DIY Audio bug and I'm already working on my current build. I honestly wanted to go all out on my first build, I'm a engineering student and I happen to work with a lot of simulations softwares like COMSOL and ANSYS so I had big plans to design my own cabinets, run all the simulations, plan everything and be able to say I did it all by myself. Unfortunately, as you all can Imagine, that did not worked out very well. After about a week of a lot of studying and reading about the topic I realized how complex and how much detail, and knowledge goes into such builds. I was essential trying to put years of experience in a first project. Bad Idea. Therefore I decided to chill down and find a build plan online. After some research I found this design from FANE.
https://www.fane-international.com/downloads/Cabinets10inchTrapres.pdf
It's a 8'' , horn loaded PA system which is exactly what I was looking for.
First of all, has anybody did such build before or know FANE speakers? I know FANE as being a famous company for guitar amps and pretty much all the information online is, not surprisingly, about guitar amps.
Second I do have a problem already, the problem being that the horn in the build is discontinued. Is it a huge problem to change the horn? Should I change the compression driver all together? If I do change the CD all together, what exactly do I need to look for so I find one that works well as a replacement for this CD140?
They're suuuuper deep, like 1.3m or somthing. I was told they were a martin audio bin but I have looked and can't find anything. Or anyone who recognises the party and knows the crews who deployed for it so I can check with them.
If anyone has any in their possession and wants to sell also please lmk as I have money to spend and specifically want these bins.
Hi everyone I'm wondering if anyone had some advice with converting a LGR audio input into a bluetooth audio input, I've found a small board that will work (i think) but it still needs a power supply, so I'm just wondering if I have any other options/ if there is any tech that will do the same and look more neat than having a board just sitting there with wires attached. Thank you all,
Looking for two 12"s to run on mids 180Hz-3.4kHz. I have an 810W into 4ohm amp channel to spare for them, so looking for two 8ohm, 400W(ish) drivers to run in parallel.
A few cheap options on CPC below. Haven't checked BlueAran yet. Obviously happy to go used if someone has something decent on one of the fb groups
I currently have two Beyma SM110s in the box, which aren't terrible but the box has space for 12" cutouts and I might sometimes want to use it on kick duty - so figured having something bigger would be better in the long run
In the pic our previous sound system AA—01 (@alef.sound) customized enclosures and JBL 4312 for monitors.
I was wondrering if anyone knows this type of speaker, i have seen them a lot but know nothing about them
So glad we could test the whole system this afternoon in our friend's warehouse!
It sounds great, the fourth G-sub really cements it all together, and finally having the second SyntripP is so satisfying after almost a year of having just a single one.
SyntripPs with B&C De700TN and 10CL51 Mkt30 with Thomann and eminence 12" G-subs with B&c18ps100
Amps are InterM M2000 and M1000
Basically title. Trying to build a decent speaker stack with what I have available.
Rig is 4 x JBL 818 active subs 2 x JBL 718 active tops (thoughts on running these as mids?) They are oriented sideways, tops out, in a cabinet. 4 x Seismic Audio 10” 100watt tops with tweeters, again I know this not ideal but it’s what I’m working with.
The crossover for the subs is built in, just need a bi-pass for the mid range and a hi-pass for the tops.
I wonder if you guys could recommend me:
An entry level DSP to accomplish this,
And a decent amp to run the tops. They are 8ohm 100watts each.
Thanks you guys!
Hey ! I'm currently building 4 scoops and 2 HD215, and I feel a bit lost about the wiring for the HD215... What I want to do is linking the two boxes together (so I can drive both with one amp) so I need to plug two speakers to two speakon bases (in parallel) on each of them.
I can't find clear answers, and I really don't want to screw up... Wiring as always been my weak point lol
Does anyone know how to do that ?
Thanks a lot ! 🙏 (The picture isn't mine, it's just for reference)
