Sound System Culture - BASS PORN - Big Ass Bass Stacks
!! NOT FOR CAR/HOME AUDIO !!
Talk about / drool over sound systems and sound gear.
Post your compact portable PAs, road gear, big concert rigs. Post pics of huge speaker stacks and amp racks - BASS PORN! Old rickety Jamaican sound systems or the latest-and-greatest high-tech line arrays, whatever's clever.

Hello everyone.
I have to say first that I am a total noob for sound-systems and ask as a DJ with some amount of technical understanding of sound.
I am monthly playing in a small basement club (max capacity maybe 30 people) that has a pretty massive looking Function-One PA.
I have a strong suspicion that the owner just brought the setup as it is and just put it in his club without any adjustments.
The sound in the club is notoriously lacking in overall volume but also too harsh and weak bass.
When we as DJs want to increase the volume over the course of the night our only chance is to turn up the master knob on the DJ mixer but the mixer is already in the orange zone without much room for more gain.
So I checked the amp and it is a Lab-Gruppen D-Series 40:4 amp that doesn't have any controls to touch directly. It is connected to a router however.
So I figured the amp settings can only be changed wirelessly if you use software.
Now my question as a Noob is how difficult is it to learn to change and optimise the settings of the amp?
Is this a job for professionals only or is the process straight forward enough?
I guess some EQing, balancing of the individual cabinets and increasing the overall level might be necessary.
I found two softwares are on the manufacturers page (Cafe and Lake) but haven't understood which software does what.
Equipment will be stationary and would need moved rarely. Predominantly electronic music. a good balance of clear highs, stong mids, and heavy bass.
Probabky like 3000-5000 sq Ft. Maybe more
Not too sure what a realistic budget even looked like. Hopefully like 10-20k for sound
5k for lights and stuff š¤·āāļø
USBs have been out for a number of years now and iv only heard them loaded with celestion FTR4080FD, heard of them loaded with PD1850 and fane collosus 18xb (1000wrms) but I havenāt heard them loaded with either of these personally,
I have some fane collosus 18xs (1200wrms) loaded in some invaders which I will get round to testing in the USB soon
My question is, is there any better options other than the old recommended list for USB that outputs a higher SPL/DB etc
TIA
Hey there! Currently looking for a budget (<650ā¬) subwoofer which should be added to my DIY column line array which puts out 113db/1m. Mainly used for small techno events.
Portability is important for me so <30kg (66lbs). Furthermore it should be active powered with Class D (may also be used with power stations).
Iām also open to used ones.
The models I already found are: DB Technologies Sub 615, Alto TS 12S, the box pro Achat 115 Sub A (Thomann house brand)
Iām aware that usually itās better to get used ones since itās more cost effective but I already checked the used market and didnāt find anything what suits me which may also be because of my little knowledge.
Iām based in Germany btw.
So if you have any suggestions or tips I would really appreciate it.
Hi guys, Iām looking at opening a radio-podcast/music bar and seeking advice on what sort of sound system to purchase. A slight idea of the venue it is a 1400sqft space. I will have technic 1210s and pioneer cdjs for djās and looking for a plug and play system for sound. Any recommendations on what I would need speaker/sub and amp wise? Any help would appreciate it.
Hey, I have an opportunity to buy two LX-218B subs for approximately 1.25 price of two delta x218b
Which one is better?
me and my friends started this project here in Antwerp, Belgium 2 years ago, and after some hard work and a little too much money we finally got it up and running!
Got another scoop in the shed and a t amp e1200 in the post. Just gotta update the drivers and get a nother amp and dsp. As well as redesign a few boxes.
Hey, does anyone know this speaker, their names and if they are good are not ?
Hello everyone
I am new to the music and sound world but I want to delve into making a sound system, I want to make a sound system for Tekno parties with a regular DJ panel but I have no idea where to start. Can anyone give me a clear overview of which electrical components in general you need and what is most important to optimize your speakers?
Thanks A Lot!
I m building a new bar and nightclub, dimension around 3500sqft and 15-20feet height. Can anyone suggest me a good brand or model for sound system or speakers in a good price ?
Howdy y'all, I'm looking for some initial guidance. I've decided that 2025 is the year that I invest some money in hearing the music I like and sharing it with my friends and community. I want to either build a system or buy something with a somewhat respectable budget (sub $20K ideally), so any insights y'all could share would be so appreciated and I look forward to learning and growing with you all.
I have some elementary knowledge of sound & bass (hoffman's iron law), but don't have the time or energy presently to dive in to the point where I feel I can build my own own stack. Maybe I'm wrong and I just need the right push but as of now I think buying something prefab, and maybe second hand is the move.
Here's my criteria:
-Small enough to setup and breakdown with 2-3 guys & a rickety old box truck/van.
-Enough low end for good, body thumping bass in smaller outdoor settings.
-Nice clarity across music styles - good for house and hip hop but also crisp & pleasurable for jazz & more organic sounds
-Efficient enough to run off grid with a solar generator / battery pack for 2-4 hours.
The pic is one of my dream venues where I live. IYKYK. We had an amazing roller disco there a few years ago and I've been dreaming of recreating it ever since but with some real sound this time around. Much love, see you in the comments!
From Sweden, VƤsterƄs and Stockholm combination link up! This pic is from a summer session we had.
I'm looking to build a cargo bike soundsytem. Space is limited so while trying to maximise sound output and bass while minimising fabrication this is what I have in mind.
I need some help to figure out how to power this. Assuming my power source is a 48v70ah lithium electric bike battery, what kind of amplification could I consider?
How does this sound as a rough plan? My alternate plan was to try and build a miniscooper style system, but I want to get this up and running as soon as possible and avoid as much fabrication as possible. Any feedback welcome!
So I'm pretty new to this stuff, maybe this is more obvious that I think, but are there any detailed breakdowns on a system like for example sinai?
For example each scoop is 18", 2k Watts rms, kicks are 15" and x amount of Watts. They use x and x amplifiers. A real breakdown of what goes into each part of a system of this kind of size?
thanks for any info!
Not sure if posts like these are allowed since it's technically a home setup, so delete this if it isn't allowed.
I'm looking to upgrade my setup in my basement from scratch mostly for parties with ~30 people (I have a small mixing desk).
I'm not well versed in this kind of audio setups so I went to a guy who recommened me this: 2xSanway SF-10 speakers ,Sanway L8018 subwoofer, Sanway FP6000Q amp and dB-Mark XCA24 +. He gave me a quote of 3k euros + VAT (which is 25% here) with instalation. I can make this a 'business' purchase so it will be tax-exempt. Is this any good? If not, do you have any alternatives that fit the buget? I'm fine with loosening it if there is something much better.
Not sure weather this makes sense, but Iām wanting to make a stack, I already have 2 single 18 inch subs and then Iām not to sure sure what to put ontop of them. I see a lot of big systems with a middle speaker before the tops Iāll also put the 2 tops on a dual speaker stand, not sure if this makes sense but let me know
Hello, Iām kind of a noob at live sound and I picked up a custom build dual 18 inch subwoofer loaded with eminence omega pro 18A cones. At the moment I have a pretty cheap amp from before hand the Rockville RPA9. I was trying to just test the subwoofer and get a gauge for how loud It can go and I noticed that the amp adds a sort of crunchy sounding noise coming from the cones whenever the subwoofer plays, you can sort of hear it in the video. I have tried another amp I have just to see if the noise is coming from the amp or the cones and the sound was fine and very clean. The driver are 800rms each and the Rockville amp is 400rms per channel and Iām running both cones on one channel so surely itās not overpowered right? Bad wire connection inside the amp? Or maybe probably just Becouse itās a cheap amp? Just trying to figure out if there is a way I could fix this so I could run the subwoofer at a lower volume before I order a new more powerful amp?
