Curious to know how other people's spouses and loved ones deal with the risk of something bad happening to you at work. Do they worry a lot? Do you have to reassure them and check in? If you've been threatened or injured, how did they cope?
It’s going to dip into the 20s (-1.1 c) next week and I have to be outside entering data into my company smart phone so I need gloves that will keep me warm and let me use a touch screen.
Any recommendations?
I'm starting out and could use some advice on what is a good investment for my hair and what's a waste of time. Any particular type of hair tie? I'll have to have it in a bunch and it's REALLY long.
So i own a small security company and we all gathered together and had a near unanimous vote yes to unionization! My question is for anyone who is union with their company whats the pros / cons?
I’m planning to do this as my 2nd job part time. Any tips? This is my first security job
What ideas have you all come up with? We have all this time at these posts with nothing to do but twiddle our thumbs and pretend that we’re busy. what can we do or what have you done to generate income during your downtime? I appreciate your response and as the title says, no mention of surveys or games, please. Thank you.
Our ACH Direct Deposits never posted yesterday. My coworkers in the mid-Atlantic region (DC Branch) reported the same issue about not receiving their paychecks AT ALL. I was assuming since Thanksgiving was on Thursday, we weren’t getting paid until Friday morning. Up till now, no deposits have been made. I contacted Navy Federal and they don’t see any pending transaction. They told me to contact PayRoll and get the ACH Trace Number. I called GardaWorld’s payroll department and NO ANSWER. I contacted my managers and they’re acting oblivious and told us to wait until Friday Noon. When I check e-hub, it shows the check has been processed and deposited into my checking. For those that work at GardaWorld, has this ever happened to you?
And for those that have been in similar predicaments, what is the usual procedure when a a bi-weekly check doesn’t post at all. Just trying to pay my bills.
If so how is the job market? I’m moving there soon and I’d like to know if I’m in for a struggle or not. I understand that it’s pretty easy overall nationally, but I’ve also heard that it can be hard in some areas.
Sitting in my pov for my Security company i work for. And nah i don't mind it. Everything i buy for this beast is a tax write off. She's a 2014 Ford F150 STX SPORT 4X4 with a 5.0 V8 Coyote. My shift is 16:00-00:00. So ill be off duty soon and then schedule off for two days Saturday and Sunday and back to workin Mon-Fri for 8 hours a day. Which aint bad.
This time around it hasn’t been so bad, I work 12’s and I only work half of the month (assuming I don’t get mandated). On my days off I stay up during the day. I remember the first time I did nights it was awful but that was due to the schedule. Thankfully I’m apart of a union at my current security job which is pretty rare from my experience.
Does anyone else have a really bad or good schedule for their night shifts?
How is everyone's shift going today?
How did you get into the field? how long have you been here? What are the advantages or disadvantages ?
How do you stop from falling asleep?
They may look like ordinary traffic cones to you, but to me, they’re my newest recruits. Meet ‘Cone-nor’ and ‘Cone-stance,’ the dynamic duo on patrol. Their mission? Protect this patch of asphalt from unauthorized entrance, stray leaves, and suspicious puddles. Don’t underestimate their watchful silence they’ve got a perfect track record. Other than this nonsense how’s everyone’s night shift going.
So I’m working the night shift and we recently got a new supervisor that tends to exhibit micro manager tendencies. Long story short him and one of the more dependable employees that’s been working here for quite a while got into it.
Not gonna say all the details but basically since the argument erupted when the sup starting trying to grill him in front of all of us: pretty much the supervisor was inferring that he was slacking off somewhere. His explanation was that he was helping someone and even pulled out receipts and time stamps on the cameras and door alarm systems on where he was at that time. It was quite surprising since he seems like a pretty laid back guy but you could tell he was super pissed that this supervisor was implying he was slacking off somewhere.
Ever since then things have been kind of really tense and weird when we’re all together for a shift meeting or briefing. The guy is still pretty chill with us but whoever they react now idk I feel like a fist fight is about to break out any minute between the two. Now I’m worried that this guy is going to quit sooner rather than later once he gets something else lined up. Mind you this guy gets along with everyone and is pretty dependable. Almost never calls out and he consistently is volunteering to cover for people on other shifts if they want to take time off or something. I think besides me - we’re the only two on this shift that are actually dependable and with him gone that means more workload for me since the higher management won’t seem to fire the other slackers on our shift and replace them with people that actually do work or won’t call out every week. Idk what kind of dirt they have on them or who they know but they seem untouchable. So instead I guess this supervisor decides to fuck with the good people that actually work and piss them off. Make it make sense. This supervisor has only been here for 1 month and he’s already fucking shit up and now we may potentially lose a good guard on my shift which will affect all of us.
To all my fellow security guards working today because it's mandatory to work holidays.
I have my first shift tomorrow night it's a 1815hrs to 0200hrs. Pretty nervous so I was just wondering what some tips are for a first-timer. It's already off to a good start because the link for the on-site induction isn't working so that isn't helping. Also to add it's an event at an arena for a company function.
I (40M) have spent the last 10+years in healthcare management and was let go at the beginning of the year. After months of toying with my next career move i started the process of applying to be a police officer. After 8 months in the process i received a letter stating that i wouldn’t complete the process and get into academy before i turn 40, ending my hopes of joining LE. In the last month i took a job doing security at Target and while the pay isn’t particularly good, i think i enjoy security and would like to make it my career for the next 10-15 years.
Any advice on how to maximize earning potential ?
I was told that I could get a suspension for calling out on a holiday. My shift is technically at midnight the next day, and I called out because my mother is in the hospital. I also haven't called out for at least two months.
Client employees have been on high alert lately after thefts of personal items. My partner got back from a patrol and straight up said “I stole food from the employee break room because I couldn’t help myself”. He said well I’m not going to be in trouble for this right? I cannot face palm any more with these people. There is literally no one at the site so I am not about to be blamed for this BS. Guess the best course of action is to message my Sup. and Manager tomorrow and let them know. Hate to be a snitch but I am not okay with obvious theft.
I recently found a job Posting for Site Security Supervisor for GardaWorld in Iraq. Anyone know more about this job other than what they list in the posting? Anyone have experience with that company overseas? Is it at the Embassy or at a different site? Is this a PSS job or something else like just field administration? Do you have to do a physical Test like other Companies that have Contracts over there? Is trading for the position here in America or OJT?? Any real information is greatly appreciated! DM if you want to discuss it there.
A little over a year ago I was working at a sight with some toxic people. I needed to leave because I couldn't take it anymore but the site was already short staffed and the manager said I have to stay until they find a replacement which was estimated to take months. I didn't want to quit the company over this but just be moved to a different site or just be a spare, so I ended up getting a doctors note to excuse me from my duties at that site. When I gave them my doctors note my supervisor said the manager had to approve my transfer but was very upset with me (I guess for saving my mental health and not waiting months for a replacement). Fast forward to today (over a year), I'm still as spare, can't find another full-time position within the company, and can't even get shifts as a spare (something I've never had a problem with in the past. To make things worse, I can't even find a job at other security companies even though I have all required certifications and almost 10 years of experience. Is it possible that this manager (who is pretty high up) got me blackballed not only within the company, but the whole industry? Can he really be that petty? Is there some kind of naughty list all these companies have access to and don't hire from? I have no proof but the longer this goes on, the more sure of it I become. Also the company still has ongoing hiring campaigns so they are clearly not at a surplus of guards.
