The Seattle subreddit. News, current events, meetups, etc.
Please read the full rules wiki here. Below are highlights of our most important rules:
Be good: We aim to make the Seattle reddit a friendly place for everyone, so treat your fellow humans with respect. Content that contains racism, sexism, homophobia, harassment, threats, or other toxic content will be removed, regardless of popularity or relevance - and may lead to warnings or bans. We often moderate based on severity - and while that is subjective, flagrant violations (hate speech, slurs, threats, etc.) will result in immediate bans.
Follow reddiquette: While reddiqutte is "informal" by reddit standards, we have a firm stance on a few aspects, namely: Don't be rude, please be respectful to others. Don't editorialize headlines, please title your posts appropriately. Do not post private information about others, illegal content, or misinformation. Please keep post comments on-topic. See more details on Reddiquette or read the full text on our official rules wiki.
Keep Posts Seattle Related: Posts must be relevant to Seattle or the greater Seattle area.
No harassment / witch hunts: Do not create posts or comments to harass other users, incite witch hunts, or share photos of others without their consent.
No for-sale, classifieds, or job postings: You're welcome to give away free tickets or unused items, but any sales, classified ads, or job postings should be posted to r/sealist or r/seajobs, respectively.
No crowdfunding or surveys: Do not share crowdfunding sites (kickstarter, gofundme, etc) or any other donation links (sorry, this is a blanket rule out of fairness). Also, please do not use r/Seattle to post surveys or polls. You may ask questions, but targeted information gathering is prohibited.
No spam, ads, or promotional content: Do not post anything that is purely advertising or promotional content, or if you stand to profit from the content. Original content from artists and creators is acceptable, so long as it is relevant and not purely promotional.
Limit Reposts: Please search before posting! Please don't post duplicates of articles that are currently or have recently been discussed.
Due Diligence / FAQ / Weekly Threads Please don't post questions here without searching first and giving us specific details. We are not a human search engine or travel agents - we have a wiki, searchable posts and flairs, and a discord with tons of helpful folks. Google is your friend. Posts lacking these details or that that can be easily searched on the sub/internet will be removed - feel free to discuss these in our weekly threads, on our discord, or post in /r/AskSeattle.
Improper Missing Persons, Pets, or Stolen Property Post:
Lost / missing / found pets or property posts must include location last seen and pictures - please do not post pictures of flyers unless they were created by you.
These posts should not include personal contact information - all stolen property posts must include police report info - and all posted contact information must be to contact public agencies only.
Standards For Posts About Crime: Posts about criminal incidents on reddit should be considered for the purpose of public knowledge (active incidents, disruptions, news events, etc). Any post that claims to be witness to a crime, or with accusations of criminal activity must provide a police report, article, or other substantial evidence of the incident in order for it to be considered for approval. Contact mods to provide this information privately.

Can anyone recommend a hotel with a microwave or a kitchen in the room? My other priorities are cleanliness and quietness. Budget is flexible. Thank you.
Anyone have a dental plan through willamette? Seems like a good deal since there’s no maximum $ benefit per year, like with delta dental $1000 maximum you can blow through that pretty quickly if you need a lot of dental work done.
can someone explain why there is a r/seattle and r/seattlewa ? is it kind of like the r/ columbus and r/columbusohio situation where the latter is directly due to the former? Thanks
I made this wreath this past weekend mostly with materials my mom and her friends had gathered from Tacoma. I’d like to make more to give as gifts but am lacking access to the specific greenery I’m looking for that made this one so fun to create (hydrangeas, beauty berries, holly, winterberries, greens). Is there anybody on this group with land/access to these items that could let me forage? I’d be glad to make you a small wreath in return. Thanks in advance :-)
Hey y'all.
Hoping to find a barber that is familiar with old school haircuts like pompadours, rockabilly, greaser stylesetc.,
Ideally in the Northgate/Aurora area, but I'm open to a drive if they have a good reputation!
Thanks!
Hello, Looking for recommendations for a trusty and reliable cleaning person or service for regular (bi-weekly) cleaning in the north side of Seattle. Hoping to find someone affordable who can bring their own materials. Thanks!
We just moved to the area (near Ballard HS) and got Quantum Fiber. Haven’t had it more than two weeks. It’s great when it’s working, but so far there have been stints with lags, dropped signals, and more reboots than we had with CenturyLink fiber in three years. Now today we’ve been without internet since 10am, apparently due to an outage that I never received a notification about/customer service was not aware of.
Anyone have any alternatives? We need internet that can handle multiple gaming/video streams so fiber seems like a pre-req, but curious what others in the area have / what your experience has been.
TIA!
Hey all, I’m at a point in life where I’m making enough money to live comfortably. I don’t have family nearby, so Christmas gift giving is minimal and I’d like to give back to some who are less fortunate. Can I get some recommendations for local groups doing a Santa project, adopt a family, adopt a child, or something of that nature where the help is needed and donations will stay local.
Hi all! I’m wanting to give my friend a day spa package for their birthday. (Not that it matters but he’s a straight male in his 50s who loves self care) we live in Snohomish County but he rides motorcycles so somewhere that has a nice scenic drive to get to is welcome as well maybe within 100 miles or so is reasonable. What are your suggestions?
So my girlfriend’s daughter desperately wants to try sakuramochi. From what I can tell it’s just a regular red bean mochi, but wrapped in a cherry blossom leaf. We’ve been looking all around the Edmonds/Lynnwood area, but so far haven’t found it. I feel like we’ll probably need to go down to Uwajimaya, but before I do, I wonder if anyone here knows a place that sells it? Bonus points if it’s in north Seattle or norther than that.
My partner wants to move to Seattle and I’m nervous that I’ll wind up depressed
Hi Seattle!
We have a trip planned for MLK weekend and I'm wondering if someone here could level set with me on expectations in terms of what's generally open and weather permissable in mid-January.
My partner and I are traveling with our 6 year old. Our current itinerary includes some time at Pier 57 to ride the Great Wheel and Carousel. Is this actually accessible this time of year?
I also have the Woodland Park Zoo Wild Lanterns slated for an evening but I could use some first hand insight on whether this is an event a 6 year old would enjoy/worth our time on a long weekend visit (4 days).
Other itinerary stops include the Space Needle, Underground Seattle, Gasworks Park, Seattle Aquarium, Freemont Troll, Gum Wall, Arboretum, Science Center, Pikes Place Market.
I try my best to find a balance between things we like vs things our kiddo enjoys - are there any can't miss places for kids? Any super cool/unique parks or playgrounds?
Lastly, I have one dinner booked @ The Pink Door. Looking for at least one other nice dinner.
I've read through a TON of other tourist posts in this sub but haven't found anything specific to visiting at this time of year. Appreciate you all; can't wait to explore your city!
Edit to add: we spent last Dec-Feb in Amsterdam and my understanding is that you have similar weather. Please correct me if I am mistaken!
I want to hear from the local starbucks, ex baristas, starbucks in safeway stores, bikini baristas, cafe elites, bigfoots, cafes on the corner…. HOW OFTEN ARE THE ICE MACHINES, FILTERS, ICE MAKERS cleaned?
Thank you 😊
I’m going to a concert later this week at Climate Pledge, can I get my e-cig/vape into the venue?
What is their security like? Are there metal detectors?
I will be in Seattle for one day. I will land at 9:30 am and leave at 11:00 pm. What are some things I should do while there?
My wife is attending the ASHA National Conference, and I am going along with her (she's not familiar with downtown). Anyone recommend a spot for me to work close by (short walking) where I can be on a few low-key calls for the day? Ideally, where I can use my 2nd USB 13" monitor too, but it's not a deal breaker. Thanks!
Please let my Dragonite die in peace. Someone near Wallace Falls.... Can you please put her out of her misery? I miss my best bud.
