I have been in US for 9.5 years now. Next year I plan on moving back to India.
It has got nothing to do with the election results.
I need someone who can explain to me what my options are, with regards to my savings.
Someone who can help me file both US and Indian tax returns for the next 5 to 6 years, even if I am not physically present in America. i.e. if I choose to leave my money here in the US.
Hi all, looking for birthday cake options for my husband!
I have a gunne sax-esque dress that I want get drastically shortened and possibly a few other alterations, need a recommendation for a good seamstress/tailor who can help me realize my vision. Ty!!
Two boys (ages 4 and 8, i believe). The parents expect the kids to be picked up from school, fed (some meals will jast need to be reheated, others cooked), taken for walks, played with, engaged in enrichment activities. So not just watched. Assuming this is paid under the table, what would be a reasonable rate?
I'm thinking on taking my gf to Canlis for her bd but I've been reading some comments of people saying that they spent more than 1k which is crazy to me but I haven't read any comments about how much did they actually spent.
We are going mostly for the food, the experience and the view, probably won't be drinking anything.
Thoughts or recommendations? My budget is $200 :')
considering relocating from vancouver, canada for school/work.
I moved to Seattle 3 weeks ago and got an apartment in Capitol Hill. I finally feel comfortable enough to start exploring the area and was wondering what the spots locals would recommend. I’m looking for a few different types of places to visit.
I’ve been to Analog and Overcast so far. Have yet to check out Basecamp as it’s always busy.
I’ve tried Carmelo’s so far and wasn’t a huge fan.
I absolutely suck at starting conversations with people but am super sociable when I get approached.
I’ve been to Linda’s tavern, KJ’s, and Raygun Lounge so far. I’ve enjoyed all 3 but Linda’s and KJ’s are a bit harder to enjoy by myself. I also enjoy board games a lot so recommendations like Phoenix comics are also appreciated.
Looking to get a feel of the metro area. Family of mine is needing to move from our current state (Arkansas) because it's not as gay friendly for them. I am wanting to move myself and my kids to stay close to this family member. I am wanting to visit to get a feel of the area and find out which area would be good to move to. Any advice from locals? Or people that have moved to live in the area recently?
I've never move more than a few hundred miles before so I'm not sure what all to look for in a new community. Thanks!
Hi, my friends and I are driving from Canada to Seattle, and we’d love to visit downtown and check out the Amazon Spheres. We saw on Reddit and the website that the Spheres won’t be open to tourists this week. Is there any way we could still get in? Would it be possible to connect with any Amazon employees who might be able to give us a tour? We’re engineering students and would really love the chance to visit the HQ. Thanks so much!
Its too sporadic to know
What are the safest neighborhoods for family of 6?
I’m planning to move to Seattle next month and i was wondering if i have to retake written and driving test?
I’m moving from California next month can anyone share advice on the gyms and any good barbers? Thanks !!
Ps more specifically west Seattle but I don’t mind driving a bit
Hello all, I don’t know if this is the right time to post this, so please tell me if it’s inappropriate and I will take this down immediately.
I(18F) was planning to visit Seattle for about a week in late Jan. However, I just read about the stabbings that happened in ID/Chinatown. I wasn’t planning to go there anyways, but it made me question whether I’d be safe in Seattle. Most comments were about the area, but some of the comments talked about subtle/blatant racism, how Seattle isn’t that safe now, etc. Would I be better off cancelling my trip?
EDIT: Along with taking precautions, I will avoid ID/Chinatown, 3rd, Pine, and Jackson. Thanks for replying and helping out a stranger!
Hi everyone! My wife and I are expecting our first child in March and are planning to leave Dallas after 11 years here. I work at a big tech company with HQ in Seattle, so we’re looking to make a move up there.
We’d love to find a neighborhood that’s family-friendly and has a quiet feel but is also close to restaurants, shops, and maybe a Trader Joe’s if possible! I’ll need to commute to Redmond three times a week and would like to keep it under 45 minutes if I can. We’re open to renting a house, apartment, or townhome for now, with plans to eventually buy. Also looking for an area with good parks and schools since we’re thinking long-term for our little one.
Thanks so much for any recommendations or advice!
Why does King county have rural areas like Cottage Lake, High Bridge, Maltby, Hobart and Mirrormont near Seattle where tons of new suburban homes could be built? The people there have large plots but most dont do any farming. It looks like a waste of large land area where lots of people could live.
I am visiting the city for 4 nights and I have a car to park.
Hotel only gives you Valet option $52/night ($49+ taxes) and I’d like to beat that cost for basic overnight parking. I see a few public outdoor spots around the hotel, but I would like a garage.
Is Day 1 Garage my best option for overnight rates?
Google picture from 3mo ago shows $21/24hr
edit: I don’t need a secure parking facility, just a suggestion for decent garage at a decent price walking distance from my hotel
We are strongly considering a move due to wanting to be someplace progressive and being in a VERY red state. Hubs is a security engineer, so hoping to find something in that realm. Are there any particular areas that might be more welcoming to autistic lgbtqia teens? Any school recs? We prefer public but might be able to swing private if it was an outstanding fit.
I work at a church and we have some unused offices. They need some work and we are kind of broke but would spend the money if we thought we could generate some income. They might work well for psychotherapists or massage therapists or something like that. Does anyone know how we could get a sense of what kind of market there would be for spaces like this before we invested a lot in repairs? We would not be looking for a lot of money - just something more than the nothing we get now. But ideally somewhat stable tenants - not a wework situation because of the labor involved in managing that. Open to other creative ideas....
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
I'm a mobile technician, and will be in town for a couple weeks for work.
What areas would be good to make home base?
For context, I will be working all around the Seattle and Tacoma areas but I don't want to stay downtown.
Is there anywhere that is central to Seattle propper and Tacoma that is relatively peaceful and my tools won't get stolen?
I mean no offense by this question btw. I've just never been and I don't want to stay in bad areas.
Thanks again,
Hello all, am from Atlanta and will be visiting Seattle for about a week (Nov 16-24). My plan is to stay in the Capitol Hill area, just a few questions. How is the metro system there? Will be able to reliably make it to touristy attractions via train and bus? Also how is the social scene there this time of year? Any recommendations? Any info would be much appreciated:)
I've been thinking about moving to Seattle for a while and noticed that maps that show the best places to live and the most liberal areas tend to be east and north of downtown Seattle. Not much comes up for south and west of the bay, despite there being tons ot houses and huge plots of land for sale. Is that area more Republican? Is there a reason it's less desirable to live south or west of Seattle? Is it harder to commute by ferry into the city? Any insight is appreciated. I just find it hard to understand why more people wouldn't want to live where there is more nature and land.
Edit: puget sound* not bay
And this is the map I was using to search for neighborhoods. Filtered by good schools, low crime rate, and moderate to liberal leaning. https://www.niche.com/places-to-live/search/best-places-to-live/m/seattle-metro-area/
By south I mean like south of Renton/Kent
I'm from Costa Rica, my family and I just moved to the Seattle area for work. I'd like to meet people who are also learning English. Or small groups to socialize.
Ok Seattle fam, help me out here I was on vacation a few weeks ago and admittedly fell in love with the vibe, how easily walkable/transit is. Ppl r just so chilled, I did encounter someone yelling at me about some religious things and got mad when I didn't pay them any attention (got more yells) I am seriously considering a move there, any insights how to take this leap? Should I move there first, then look for jobs? I'm in corporate finance (FP&A). I am searching job boards etc but I'd like some feedback/guidance how to go about this. Which neighborhoods? We don't have kids yet. I currently do have a hybrid work thing - so can't really scope out first with existing job (blew my PTO in Seattle😂). Appreciate any input!
I’ve heard bad things about Fetch but some apartments use it and you have no choice? I just signed with an apartment complex that uses Fetch. Is there a more reliable and secure way to receive packages in the city?
Hi everyone,
It’s about time I popped the question. Does anyone have recommendation for custom engagement rings in the Seattle area? My budget is not crazy but I can spend around 2k… maybe more?
Is it safe to walk downtown in daytime also?
Im going to Seattle 2 weeks later and stay there for 3days
I booked hotel in downtown near public library and im going to visit pike place, starbucks reserve, space needle, and lumen field
I dont have much money so Im thinking of using transportation and walking
Since im a foreigner and its my first time visiting US so im a little bit worry about safety
I have hair past my shoulders.
Got a trim 6 months ago from Rudy’s & payed to have 6” chopped off my hair.
I tend to get trims every 6 months.
I’m looking for a local business in the Seattle area for a move. Thanks!
Hello. I'm trying to figure out a trip for this upcoming summer. I live in-state and kinda really don't want to take an airport shuttle bus home, so I'm looking at flying the rest of the way home.
My flight arrives at SEATAC at 2 pm and I've found a flight to my city at 4 pm. If I don't have to worry about luggage, is this a reasonable connection?
