r/Rosacea is a patient support community for those diagnosed with Rosacea, a medical disorder of the facial skin and sometimes the eyes. Diagnosing rosacea takes a pro; if you think you might have something like rosacea, see a doctor. Please see our wiki for general info about rosacea if you're trying to decide if you need professional advice.
Please read the wiki before posting.
While the cause of rosacea is unknown and there is no cure, medical help is available that can control the signs and symptoms. Any one of the following warning signs is a signal to see a dermatologist or other knowledgeable physician for diagnosis and appropriate treatment before the signs and symptoms become severe:
Please note: Each patient's case is unique, and treatments that work for one person may not work for another.
THE INTERNET IS BAD AT DIAGNOSING THINGS If you are concerned that you might have rosacea, please visit a dermatologist or your primary care physician for a diagnosis, rather than asking random strangers on the internet. There are many skin conditions and diseases with signs and symptoms similar to rosacea, some of which may be very serious.
Please consult a doctor before taking any medications or treatments, prescription or otherwise.

Hello! Just wondering if anyone here has used this and if it’s any good for rosacea… since finishing accutane I have developed sensitive rosacea skin and need something for maintenance for acne. -Thanks!
To all my rosacea friends. I'm sharing this soap and lotion with you all because I feel it has been very effective with me. I'm hoping it helps you all as well. Hugs
I’ve been battling through eyelid rosacea, caused by allergic reactions to beauty products which then caused demodex.
Tried all sorts of treatments with eye doc, but it is so stubborn! And I would like to occasionally wear eye makeup again but when I do, even sparingly…my eyes ache & get irritated.
I’ve tried very pure options that are free of allergens, but still it’s a problem.
Hello everyone! I was recently diagnosed with rosacea this past year, and just a couple weeks ago with ocular rosacea, which is a pain in the rear. I also have high IgE blood levels, high esinophols, and get allergic asthma responses from my guinea pigs, which I am in the process of rehoming. I have been tested for mcas, but that doesn't seem to be the issue. I am just wondering if there could potentially be a connection between allergies causing inflammation responses like rosacea?? Have been using tree tree foam eye wash for the past 2 months, yet redness and swelling on eyelids persists. My optometrist only suggested IPL and said demodex is not the culprit, although I am sceptical because the eye wash does seem to calm down the feeling of having something in my eyes. I have eyelash loss and lashes growing in crooked. I can't even wear eye makeup because it aggravates my eyelids when removing it. I am taking fish oil, vitamin C, Quercetin, and magnesium supplements. I also have redness on my neck that comes and goes with the facial flushing. Currently waiting on endoscopy H pylori biopsy and will also soon conduct a SIBO breath test. Maybe being perimenopausal and hormones play a factor? Who knows, but Drs don't seem to be much help. My next step is to see a good naturopathic Dr to get to the root cause.
I've been reading through the thread for retinol products and I've seen Bakuchiol as an alternative in several of the comments. Does anyone have any experience with it versus traditional Retinoid products that can tell me more about their experience with both? Thank you!
Right now I feel my face heating up as I wrap Christmas presents. 😭 Sitting on the floor and not even moving much!
It’s not like I am running a marathon, damn!!! I hate this!!!
Hi friends! I am at a place where I’m pretty stable with my rosacea and breakouts. I wanted to maybe add something to my AM routine to maybe help with evening out my skin or the dullness. Any recommendations? This is my current routine, I am 41 if that makes a difference
Skin routine
AM sulfur cleanser LP toleraine moisturizer SPF
PM Oil cleanse a few nights a week Sulfur cleanser Tretinoin Azaleic acid (naturium) Ivermectin nightly
Red & blue light therapy a few times a week
Looking to get a primer & setting power/spray for my It cosmetics cc cream after i saw it looks so terribly patchy last night after a few hours.
I was hoping some fellow rosacea sufferers would know what works well with this product and is good for rosacea affected skin.
Right now i tried using the elf power grip primer & milani setting spray
My face was maybe 1/3rd as red as it is here before trying metronazidole after a sulphur wash the first time today. Is it supposed to get worse before it gets better? I was diagnosed this week.
I saw a post on instagram from a local esthetician that showed a woman’s face who had what looks like type 2 rosacea and her skin is now completely clear and with almost no redness. She said her first facial treatment was in the beginning of November and she just took the second picture today which showed almost no redness.
Has anyone had success with a serious of facial treatments in getting rid of redness?
I have Type 1 rosacea (persistent redness and sensitive skin without acne) and I’m considering using sulfur products to help with the redness. What concentration works best for reducing redness and inflammation without causing irritation? I’m torn between the De La Cruz Sulfur Ointment (10% sulfur) and By Wishtrend Sulfur 3% Clean Gel.
From what I’ve read:
De La Cruz is stronger (10%) but might be too harsh for sensitive skin. By Wishtrend is gentler (3%) and has soothing ingredients like Centella, but I’m unsure if it’s effective enough. Has anyone tried these for redness without acne? Which would you recommend for calming rosacea?
I know I have to stop applying actives like retinoids before a chemical peel, but do I need to stop applying metronidazole? If so, how many days before should I stop applying?
I have tons of allergies - like I’m sure many of you do. I’ve been noticing after I have hard cider, the next day I have horrible allergies. Sneezing, terrible running nose, etc. anyone else experiencing this? Can’t figure out if I’m insane or not 🤣
All I can see online is that too much niacinamide can cause break outs and redness. I think potentially it’s caused me to get large pores in my t zone and some dryness. Wondering if anyone else has experienced the enlarged pores?
I have PCOS and usually can wax my eyebrows and lip with (mostly) minimal complications. However, my sideburns and chin have been getting worse lately and I’m needing to start some sort of hair removal there too (just for my own sanity). Does anyone else struggle with this/have any recommendations? Face shaving or should I try to wax it?
Tis the season to drink red wine with family and friends. Cold with dinner, warm and spiced by the fire in the evening, either way will immediately create the most uncomfortable flushing I experience.
My number 1 worst trigger & one of my favorite indulgences, just mourning what it would be like to have a glass of red wine without my face looking like Santa stuck out in the cold.
What are your holiday triggers? Are you gonna say f it and indulge or is it not worth the risk?
Hi everyone,
I’ve been trying de la cruz sulfur mask. I’ve been spacing it out a bit to start. It is drying for me, which is why I chose to do that. The first two or three uses I noticed it was helping with stinging and a little with inflammation/redness. However on the days I wasn’t using it, it wasn’t helping. So I decided to use it every other day consistently and see what happens. Now on the fourth use, I’m not seeing much of an improvement like I felt and saw from the first uses. How long will it take for sulfur to work? I had hope with the first few uses, but now I’m losing hope again. So frustrating and I wish I could find something that just freakin works for me. The sulfur is drying and I worry that maybe it will just make things worse if I keep using it. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and experience with sulfur.
So is it pretty much guaranteed that it’s rosacea when you have flushing from a trigger like stress that could last like 30 minutes for it to fade? If that’s not 100% what other possible things could cause bad flushing like this especially for someone who didn’t experience it the first 20 years of their life and as soon as I turned 21 boom it started happening.
Interested in feedback here!
