r/Rosacea is a patient support community for those diagnosed with Rosacea, a medical disorder of the facial skin and sometimes the eyes. Diagnosing rosacea takes a pro; if you think you might have something like rosacea, see a doctor. Please see our wiki for general info about rosacea if you're trying to decide if you need professional advice.
Please read the wiki before posting.
While the cause of rosacea is unknown and there is no cure, medical help is available that can control the signs and symptoms. Any one of the following warning signs is a signal to see a dermatologist or other knowledgeable physician for diagnosis and appropriate treatment before the signs and symptoms become severe:
Please note: Each patient's case is unique, and treatments that work for one person may not work for another.
THE INTERNET IS BAD AT DIAGNOSING THINGS If you are concerned that you might have rosacea, please visit a dermatologist or your primary care physician for a diagnosis, rather than asking random strangers on the internet. There are many skin conditions and diseases with signs and symptoms similar to rosacea, some of which may be very serious.
Please consult a doctor before taking any medications or treatments, prescription or otherwise.

I’ve been having these bumps on my face for over a year now. It’s seems like every two weeks of the month they look worse. I’ve changed my make up and skin care to suit sensitive skin and nothing has changed. I’ve tried doxycycline, soolantra and metro gel with no change other than aggravating my skin more.
This is a bit of a rant, but there is truth to it and I know many people will agree.
I’ve had both V Beam and Excel V multiple times. The truth is, lasers aren’t that effective for rosacea and broken capillaries. If they were, there wouldn’t be so many people active in this group. Often times I don’t think they do anything at all except make your skin look worse for two weeks and empty your bank account.
There are very few before and after pictures on the internet that truly show solid improvement. And the pictures that do, clearly have different lighting between the photos and have been touched up in some way.
Based on these lasers’ success rate, the treatments should be MUCH cheaper. The companies and people performing the treatments need to be much more transparent about results as well.
Hey,
I recently got vbeam laser on my face for the first time. Initially in the appointment all my redness and veins had gone. However since the morning after, Ive noticed a lot of new ones like webbing all over my nose. Will these be re absorbed? Or does anyone else have experience with the laser creating new ones.
it makes me feel so ugly and it's physically painful because of how bad it swells. i dont get to see a dermo about it until february.
I feel like Adderall has made my skin so much more flarey and sensitive. I’m not sure what it is but it sucks :/ does anyone else who takes adhd meds ever notice a difference in ur rosacea ?
I'm suffering from pretty severe depression and anxiety and have been all year. Since then, my skin has turned to absolute shit. Do you think it's likely that my skin will improve dramatically once I can stop tweaking out on the daily? I ask this because I am lowkey in a constant state of unease and stress.
my diet is 90% whole foods, 10% sugar, gluten, and happiness.
I quit smoking which I thought would worsen my symptoms but seemed to improve them.
I also quit Adderall because I suspected that was making things worse.
Anyone else have type 2 that presents this way? Having another flare start up on the side of my nose and I'm so depressed. I see the small deep red broken blood vessel, and I can feel the cyst developing underneath my skin. The whole area will become red and inflamed, and then after a week or two it will resolve around a visible cyst like lesion that slowly comes to a head and drains. Anything I can do to help make it reduce?
I'm on 40mg doxy, just came down from high dose 120mg only a month ago. I use soolantra at night and clindamycin in the am.
Sometimes I wonder if this is even rosacea at all, of if it is just cystic/nodular acne. I used to have that before I got diagnosed with rosacea, but once the derm diagnosed me with rosacea she changed all my meds. I rarely if ever see pics from people here that looks like mine. I have rosacea as well, redness and visible veins, but these deep nodules/cysts that take forever to go away seem like something else. Most people with PP seem to have smaller surface level lesions.
Should I try benzoyl peroxide or differin or something like that for spot treatment? I've heard these are bad for rosacea skin but I'm desperate. I can't go on high dose antibiotic for a long time now, and I also can't handle weeks/months of giant red lesions on my face.
I'm not saying sunscreen breaks me out, but it does if I don't wash it all the way off. Sometimes, even with micellar water, it still stays on my face. I really hate to rub my skin excessively sometimes. And even wearing it too long can eventually give me pimples, but it's manageable . Still, I don't like it.
Aren't Sun hats enough? Like those basic ones that shade your face and neck pretty well? Sometimes, I get so annoyed with everything I'd love to just throw on a hat or something. I'm lazyyyyyyyy.
Have you tried celery juice to help manage your rosacea and if so, what was your experience with it?!
I normally have oily t zone, with dry cheeks (combo skin)
I damaged my skin barrier July and now it’s November and while the texture has improved and no burning/stinging. I still feel some tightness and I’ve noticed my pores are pretty much glaring me in the face (they weren’t visible like this before)
I also somehow got rosacea from all this and there’s redness mostly on cheeks and chin with dryness. Forehead mostly feels dry
Anything I can do or is it just time and decrease stress ? The pores are just killing me. My cheeks looks the same 😭😭😭😢
Current routine am water wash Aveeno restore and calm cream

I have been prone to small pimples that sometimes turn into pustules on my face. This started out small this morning when I woke up and was slightly itchy. It’s now bigger in size and has a small white head at the tip which might be a pustule now. As of lately I have been dealing with strange occurrences like this on my skin. Any advice or info is appreciated!
Hi After years of managing dry eye with self care, hygiene, etc, I had a terrible flare up that has lasted months. New eye doctor diagnosed ocular rosacea, which certainly fits my symptoms of eye dryness combined with extreme skin sensitivity.
I'm currently trying Xiidra. Info I have found online suggests it starts to help after a couple weeks. Going into week 5 and no apparent benefit. Greasy film on eyes for an hour after each dose, eyes swollen and starting to itch. Also damned expensive. Not loving it.
Did anyone here try it? How long before you saw results.
So far the only thing that helps is steroid eye drops, which I can't use long term.
Starting to feel a little desperate here...
Thanks for any input you can give me.
I posted this on the Dry eye thread and got a recommendation to post elsewhere.
Just got back from the derm and she told me I have rosacea. She offered a prescription for ivermectin but it’s not pregnancy safe, so I’m holding off for now as I am TTC. I have been using CeraVe foaming facial cleaner (unscented) for oily skin and CeraVe SA lotion in the morning and an Olay retinol night cream. I see people recommending non foaming cleansers for dry skin, but mine is pretty oily, so I don’t know if that’s an option. I’m also unsure if retinol is okay to use with rosacea. Any recommendations would be helpful!
Hi, my first post here.
I have Rosacea since a while now, but just started treatment with rosacea treatment cream from ACO. I have started 2 weeks ago and it did nothing so far. Just wondering if it is the wrong cream (for my skin) or does it take longer to work?

REMINDER: THE INTERNET IS BAD AT DIAGNOSING STUFF. Although redditors try to be helpful, only doctors can diagnose rosacea and it often takes a specialist like a dermatologist or ophthalmologist. Rosacea looks like a lot of things, and a lot of things look like rosacea; some of these things are potentially serious. It is impossible for amateurs to diagnose rosacea reliably from pictures or descriptions of symptoms, and this thread is not intended as a substitute for professional care.
No matter what response you get here, if your symptoms have been persistent and you're concerned that you might have something like rosacea, see a doctor to get a real answer.
And be sure to check out the our wiki for some rosacea knowledge basics if you're trying to figure out if you need professional medical advice.
Title. What's the chance that all these years my main acne breakouts are caused my Sucralose and ace K? Should I try going without these for a couple weeks and see what happens? I heard some artificial sweeteners get expelled through sweat which doesn't sound good for acne. Is stevia still fine to have since it's a natural sweetener. I don’t think my acne is rosacea related because I’ve had it since I developed rosacea symptoms 2 years ago
I was diagnosed with rosacea after an allergic reaction severely damaged my skin barrier. Since then, I’ve struggled with persistent redness and textured skin. I tried everything: countless skincare products, laser treatments, injections, antibiotics, fungal treatments, and dietary supplements. While some helped slightly, nothing worked long-term or fully restored my skin.
Last week, I fell sick and completely lost my appetite. I stopped snacking, avoided sweetened drinks, and couldn’t stand anything sugary. For about a week, I inadvertently cut out sugar entirely—and to my surprise, my skin has never looked better.
The textured bumps are mostly gone, the redness on my forehead has cleared (there’s still a little on my cheeks), and my skin looks brighter and healthier overall like it’s glowing from the inside.
I also simplified my skincare routine during this time. Instead of layering products, I only applied a thin layer of moisturizer to dry spots—not my entire face. This minimal approach, combined with the lack of sugar, has worked better for me than anything else I’ve tried.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with cutting out sugar or simplifying their routine?
So my dermatologist recently put me on metro cream and I’m not sure if it’s actually doing anything or not. But she says to keep using it for now, twice a day. I’m wondering if order of products actually matters for my face routine? Has anyone else had good experiences with metro cream (applied topically)? I’m type 1/2.
Products I use/ rough routine: serums I rotate/don’t use all at once everyday
Thanks IA! :)
Which of the two is better for sensitive skin? I suffer from rosacea and dermatitis and would like some tips on good products for this skin type 🫶🏻 thank you!
Feeling pretty overwhelmed finding suitable makeup for my skin! I have mostly type 2 rosacea with a bit of type one. My skin is acne prone, and I'm also am prone to eczema. My skin is oily and dehydrated. I also have pretty stubborn dark circles under my eyes that I'm looking to cover. I find a lot of makeup stings or just enhances my dryness by settling in all the cracks and just moves around so much. By mid day I'm blotting a lot of oil. I suspect I've developed a sensitivity to something in my routine because I haven't changed anything but my type 2 is flaring up again.
This is my current routine:
AM: wash with lukewarm water
Tower 28 SOS spray
Finacea
Vanicream moisturizing cream or Vanicream daily facial cream with SPF
Fitglow Concealer
Alima Pure Loose Powder foundation
Annabelle Perfect Setting Translucent Powder
PM
Trying to keep things really simple because my skin reacts to many things but unfortunately no-makeup is not an option for me.
I don't react to the Vanicream facial SPF but I find it quite greasy feeling and it never really absorbs.
I also don't react to Alima pure but I find it feels kind of heavy to get the coverage I need and I look quite greasy by midday. Otherwise I love how simple the ingredients are, and I keep coming back to it for this reason.

Other things I've tried:
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!
Thanks
Hi all I have had Rosacea for nearly 2 decades but only got treatment for it 6 months ago.
I was prescribed Metrosa which certainly soothes. I used to lather moisturiser and nothing would work.
I however get these Pupules constantly and want to try out this Soolantra. Wondering if anyone knows the type I have and whether this would be suitable.
Thank you
Currently trying soolantra and AA. But not much progress after 2 months
