I give some of my lower quality specimens to my trick or treeters. This year I handed them out to 41 kids and 3 adults.
Highlights Theere was a very shy little girl who didn't want to come over for candy, but she did come over for crystals.
One boy thought I was "the best house ever" because I was handing out fossils. He was a repeat from last year who specially sought out my house.
The one adult I gave a crystal to yelling down the road "I GOT QUARTZ!"

I’ve never been super into rocks but I found this one and it really made me happy. I feel like I just started a ‘rocks with holes’ collection.
Lake Superior Agate - Floater, bright white bands
I visited the Colorado State Capitol and fell in love with the rose onyx! It’s the only place I. The world that has it, which is a bummer. I would love to have something that looks like it though!
Hello everyone! I have a question about rockhouding/mining. I see in my area, a lot of people know exactly where to find opals, and there is/was a mine relatively nearby. The question I have is how does someone just look at the Surface and tell what minerals are somewhere beneath the surface? I don’t have any fancy equipment, just curious how I can start to look for Opals near me without having to pay someone to use a claim, or pay for the mine?
I recently picked up this geode. Could I make a nice cut using a tile saw. I don't want to ruin it. It is just for my personal collection. It is about 3 inches across.
A sweet small LSA Floater.
I'm new to the hobby , and I'm trying to find information about crystal formation etc. ideally I'd like to go on hikes and find my own veins and spots. I've tried to DM some crystal collectors in my area ( I live in central Greece) and asked for help but nobody ever replied to me :( I've watched a ton of YouTube and read forums but I want a scientific source. If any of you guys can share some info ( books, sites etc ) id appreciate it. I want to gain experience but I know I need to do my homework even before i leave the house.
