A friend and I (from SE Minnesota) were up in the central mine dump on Sunday. I let him borrow a pickax I forged a few years ago and I believe he left it on top of the tailings. This pickax has gone on many many adventures with me and I cherish it a great deal. If anyone comes across it or would be willing to look around and try to find it I would gladly pay them for their trouble!

Had a lot of fun doing an ore pile at CM this July. I found lots of copper, but also collected anything that looked cool. (If you know what anything is, feel free to let me know!) Started cutting open some fun stuff. Really gorgeous! 

Ps- does anyone know a GOOD definitive book for ID of Michigan/UP rocks??

Prehnite with copper vein splattered through

As the title says ive had this in the family for over 30 years. My guess it got tossed into the crusher and now has that shape and scratch marks. Anyone know the value or someone that would be interested?

How to cut rocks/slabs?

I found this rock along with a stick/small cane wich has cool carvings on it  in an attic of an old cabin we were tearing down located in puyallup , Wa But not sure if that's where the rock originated from I included 2 pics of stuck Incase it helps with the identification of the roc!! Thank you much in advance for any info !!

I've been working on an article on the mine and wanted to try and include a historic image of the site.  So far all I've found was a really rough picture of the dry house in the Monette booklet and Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps at the Library of Congress.  Has anyone had luck finding a pic of it before?  Im especially interested in the rockhouse or the boiler/hoisthouse.

By chance, has anyone ever found pictures of the old Arnold Mine when it was in operation or when buildings were still standing? MTU and the Keweenaw County Historical Society have nothing.
