Looking to build up my live collection and since the old live chili peppers site is gone I’m not sure where to look. Really looking for any shows from the IWY or Getaway tours.
I've been obsessed with his layers on She Looks to Me, especially in the verse after the guitar solo. I've been revisiting the album a lot lately, and I think it's gotta be their most dynamic album. It's so damn fun to listen to, especially with good headphones. I listen to A LOT of different music and artists, and I honestly can't think of any other band that after having listened to their music for my WHOLE LIFE (I'm 27 and been playing guitar nearly every day for 17 years) I still find excitement from hearing new elements in songs that I've heard a hundred times. She Looks to Me has never really stood out to me until recently, but now I think it might be one of my favorite songs of theirs. It's got a nice little intro, thoughtful lyrics, ferocious drum fills, key changes, a boppy bridge, screaming (though simple) guitar solo, a just funky enough bass line, and lots of guitar and vocal layers. Sorry for the rant, I'm just blown away by the songwriting and musicianship of this song.
SINGLES:
Black Summer
Tippa My Tongue
Watchu Thinkin'
Eddie
Seems like a dumb idea not to have certain songs online especially from years ago.
Excluding the Dark Necessities solo
Is this spelling legit?
I'd love to see them cover I Changed My Mind by Lyrics Born
I heard the song on the radio and thought it sounds a lot like RHCP, not very obviously but kinda like John recorded something on the Getaway. Then I saw the title and it led me to think they were consciously inspired. Very decent track altogether.

Comment the first lyric of a song or the next lyric on a comment already there until we have a few full songs
Anybody else at this show? The guys all came out in costume. Chad was Ricky Bobby. John was in the football gear from inside the sleeve of the album. Anthony was a french maid. Flea was a troll/gnome/gargoyle or something, and was lowered from the rafters at the start of the show...
Show was out of this world. Setlist here:

This Velvet Glove is easily one of my Top 10 RHCP Songs. The deep lyrics combined with the layered guitars and overall dynamic instrumentation make for one of the most well rounded songs in their discography.
The title of this song was something that I was wondering about for a while, but recently I made a connection that, if intentional, is genius on the part of AK. A Velvet Glove is defined as "a superficial gentleness and courtesy masking a strong and unyielding will or determination" In the context of the song, this definition makes total sense. The song is structured around these very melodic and soft verses, which will suddenly explode into the much more intense and powerful chorus.
Maybe I am reaching here, but I would be shocked if no one else made this connection between the Title and the structure of the song itself.
