There is one day left to register and vote in Illinois for the 2024 election

If you are over 18 years old and a U.S. citizen living in Illinois, you can still register and vote on Monday November 4. All you need is to take two forms of ID and an official piece of mail (like an electric bill in your name) to the county clerk’s office of which you reside, then you can register and vote immediately after.

I was in and out of Rock Island County in 20 minutes today.

Edit: apparently the Rock Island County clerk’s office is open both November 2 & 3 as well! So not last day Monday! You have through Monday to register and vote at the CC’s office.

Indoor Mall

So I am a person who has to stay indoors or basically where a bunch of clothes completely covering my body from the Sun. I used to always go to the mall that was indoors with the food court and all the other stores, that was back in California. I was excited when I found out there was a shopping mall here, but it was closed due to covid. I really thought the place was going to come back to life after covid or something of the sort. It doesn't seem to be happening though. Is spoken with my friends in California and the indoor mall there is thriving in San Diego. So I'm in Milan of the quad cities and there's a mall in Moline, does anyone know when or how if the place will ever have more stores open other than hallmark?

The food court at the mall was one of the easiest places to make friends and I'm still kind of new to town since I don't really know anyone specifically other than my cousin who's much older than me. He's not up for the other stuff that I want to do and I'm not up for just sitting there watching TV.

Is there any place similar to the shopping mall? Target seemed like it could be one of them but they're food place is gone. Walmart kind of seems to be the only place now where you can still get food to up your blood sugar and window shop. But it's not the same as a mall with all the different options and the different "feels" of the individual stores. It's kind of hard to explain but it's like every time you walk into a different store, there's just a different vibe. I'm not sure how to make that make more sense.

Think of Claire's versus Hot topic, that other shoe store versus Payless,... I think people would spend money at the mall again now with the safety things in place, and buy less online if they actually had the option to hang out and not worry about where things are. Like you don't have to get in the car to go a couple blocks to the other store, you just take the elevator to the next floor.

Can anyone recommend something similar to the mall that's indoors? I want to be able to read books, have a snack -but not something expensive like Starbucks-, maybe salad, look around, purchase a new book, but not exactly Barnes & nobles. It needs to be within range of the Metro bubble of Rock Island county. That's what I'm looking for.

Old man going around hitting up people for money for Insulin - possible scam.

2 weeks ago an older man in a white pickup truck (can't remember the make) stopped me as I was getting gas in Davenport and wanted to sell me what looked like $5 worth of Harbor Freight tools for $15 because his son needed insulin.

Now I'm all about helping people out, but his story just didn't make the best sense, and something just told me it was bogus. So I declined.

Now I find out a few days ago, one of my girlfriend's coworkers told my gf that the same dude came into their work using a cane, and I know it was the same dude because he "had some tools for sale".

Only this time, it wasn't his son needing insulin, but him.

Now if this man or his son does need help, I feel bad, but apparently he seems to have the money for gas to drive to various places and ask random for money.

Well now that traffic cameras got taken down...

Just curious what people's thought are on this.

So recently I was pulled over on I-280 going north shortly after getting on at the highway 61 ramp. This is well into Davenport limits. The police officer who pulled me over was from Buffalo PD. They followed me onto 280 and claimed I was speeding on 280. (unmarked top of vehicle, so I had no idea it was a cop at the time)How is this even remotely right? I'm not admitting guilt here, but this is a 7 mile drive outside of the center of Buffalo, on Highway 280, usually patrolled by county/state. Been driving this route for 21 years and have NEVER seen a Buffalo PD on the road.

I know recently with Buffalo, and plenty of other towns being told they had to take their cash cow traffic cameras down, they'd probably be out giving more tickets, but this is just making me scratch my head why he's all the way over there.. The officer explained he can give a ticket anywhere in the state of Iowa etc, which from a short google search isn't exactly true at all.

What kind of movies do you want to see at the Putnam?

(Full disclosure, Thursday Night movies for November and December are already set up)

Not limited to 3D, not limited to English, but we're limited to 3 people making movie decisions. We wanted to make sure we're not choosing with our blinders on and get some public input, considering we're a public institution -

So, what movies would you want to see on the giant screen?

Help a college student complete a marketing research project?

Hey there! I'm a student at EICC. We are completing a marketing research project this semester. We are doing our business analysis on Whitey's and have created a survey to gather information from the community. Would anyone wanna help a lady out and take my survey? It's ten questions and won't take up too much time. The feedback would be much appreciated!

Italian sausage?

Now that we're deep in the heart of chili season I'm looking to find some quality Italian sausage for a recipe. I'm easily put off by gristle, hard chunks, 'hoses' or other nastiness in the meat, and I've found Hy-Vee' stock hit or miss. Johnsonville is out.

Has anyone had good luck with any brand or place? Would hate to lose a whole lot of chili if I can help it!

Need an interesting, remote, and explorable camping area within a couple hour drive for this weekend

I’m looking to for out with some friends and have a fun camp night of drinking by the fire. Where are some of the best places for this with some cool wildlife and areas to explore? Don’t need anything except trees, water, and campfires allowed. Thanks.
