I’ve recently been accepted into a pre-nursing program, and the classes I have to take are:
• BIO120: Human Body Systems for Health Science
• AHT 105: Healthcare Foundations
I need to take these classes from January to March, and then I’ll start the LPN program in July (the program I originally wanted to begin with). Why do I have to take prerequisites before entering the program instead of just starting directly? They didn’t require a TEAS test, only a placement test to set a schedule for my classes.
Hi i’m going to be taking my teas test online in a couple of weeks and I know we get a calculator for the math portion but do we get it for every questions even for the simple math ones or does it only come up for the ones you couldn’t calculate on your own?
For those who have worked part-time as a CNA while studying, would you recommend it? What strategies helped you maintain a healthy work/life/school balance? Also, where would be the best place to work to gain insight into the daily responsibilities of a registered nurse or nurse practitioner, along with practical experience?
If not, what other part-time jobs (healthcare-related or otherwise) would you recommend for a pre-nursing student?
Guys how am i supposed to get my volunteer hrs if all the hospitals near me aren’t accepting anymore omggg,, im applying for nursing school next summer and i have nothing except for my grades and my teas score.. i do have a bit of volunteer for church but thts it ughgggggfghhhh
How long did you guys study for the TEAS?? My test is on December 9th so I still have a little time to study. For those who have taken it, what kind of questions were you mostly tested on for each category?
I have my interview this month for an accelerated program and I’m very nervous. There’s a math and essay portion of the interview as well.
Any advice on how to prepare for the interview? What can I expect to be asked?
I’m not worried about the essay portion but I definitely want to do some practice math questions. I’m afraid I’ll blank on how to do basic math because of my nerves.
My school just announced that I can get into the LPN program without any prereqs. I am currently taking English and Algebra, but I haven’t taken any science classes. Is it possible to pass the science portion of the teas test without taking the science prereqs? It has been 6 years since I’ve graduated high school.
hello!!!!! after obtaining my LVN license back in February, I decided I wanted to go back for my RN. let me tell youuuu... I WAS NERVOUS! i was on reddit almost all the time looking at how people experienced the hesi entrance exam and i was stressed OUT.
there was a lot of quizlet links being linked and I APPRECIATED them because they really helped a lot, but honestly I only reviewed the anatomy quizlet that mostly every reddit post linked which was the v1/v2, and then I mostly utilized the HESI Admissions Assessment Exam Review book, 5th edition and mainly studied from that book and did practice questions on Evolve (the book gives you access to the HESI admissions practice questions)
my school required me to test on Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar, Anatomy and Physiology, Biology and Mathematics.
people said nursehub works, i tried it for a day and stopped using it. the questions were just COMPLICATED AF.
fast forward to the exam, you guys it was the most BASIC questions ever. i would say the only part I struggled the most was math because these people were serious when they tell you to KNOW these conversions, fractions, percentages, and ratios and proportions. thankfully, math was one of the subjects I HEAVILY studied besides A&P and Bio.
but other than math, A&P wasn't all that bad probably because I had already taken that class during my LVN school. biology wasn't bad either, it was really basic...
i didn't really study on vocab, grammar and reading comprehension because i didn't feel like it lol
Reading Comprehension: 86% Grammar: 82% Vocabulary: 86% Biology: 94% Anatomy and Physiology: 100% Mathematics: 85% Cumulative= 88.83%
the purpose of this post is to tell all of you, it's not bad AT ALL.
the questions are straightforward as long as you read the book and have done your practice questions
I decided to go back to school about 6 months ago for nursing. At the start of the summer, I met with an academic advisor at my community college and he said that it would really boost my chances of getting accepted into the program if I had direct patient care experience. So, I enrolled in a phlebotomy course and completed it within about a month. I have been job searching for about 4 months with very little luck. My area is not highly populated, but I never anticipated it would be THIS hard to land a decent job. I am already so defeated and frustrated by how hard it has been to get a job that everyone says is in high demand, and then today I was reviewing the nursing program application requirements and it clearly says that phlebotomy does not qualify as direct patient care. I have no clue how I missed it the first time and I’m feeling like the biggest moron in the world. I not only wasted over $1,000 on a certification that won’t help me, but I’ve wasted nearly 6 months of my time. I’m not in a financial position to go through another program (like CNA) right now. I just need to find a half-decent paying job at this point, but I’m afraid I’ve ruined my chances of getting accepted into the program. Sorry, just needed to vent.
My long term goal was to enrol in a PSW (Canada) program in May then Bridge to a PN (Practical Nursing) program at a later date. Life has a way of lifing and I’m now able to apply to the January program instead which would have me done in the summer.
I won’t be able to work much during the winter program so bills may be behind. Should I just wait until May or take my chances and do the January program?
Does anyone know what the two programs are like? I got acceptances from both but am not sure which one I should choose. Any insight is appreciated, thank you.
50OFF worked for me twice for 50% off my subscription!
What’s the best website for studying: Nursehub, study.com ,quizlet or Ati website?
Idk which one to decide on! I’ve heard good things about all of them. I’m considering just doing the mometrix book and the ATI TEAS basic package? But I’ve also heard nurse hub is great, and that the mometrix resources are great too!! So overwhelming
Currently at a community college in Orange County CA. my overall gpa is 2.2. i spent the last year a half doing courses for business but in finding out it’s not something i want to be in and decided to switch majors into nursing. I am dedicated to put in all my efforts and know i can do exceptionally well in my classes if i lock in. but my overall gpa is what discourages me. do i even have a chance with my gpa? I know i can do well but my previous time before my major switch paints a picture that im pathetic. What should i do?
I just scheduled my last prerequisites for the ADN program I am applying to. My advisor said that it’s time to start preparing for the HESI A2. So I am looking for advice on where is the best place to get study material, help, etc to start preparing. Any advice is greatly appreciated Thanks!
I got an email for a nursing program but they just gave me a date and time (Monday @1pm) that conflicts with my work schedule and it lasts several hours. This is usually work hours for people so I’m thinking people usually call off or they expect ppl to call off. Is it a bad idea to ask for alternative dates? I wish they gave me a heads up bc i felt like not enough time was given to ask for pto etc
Update: they did not let me reschedule and told me to apply for next semester because they do not change the dates of their interviews or provide alternatives.
I don't know how to set it up
The camera has to look at both my face and hands? I'm using a laptop and i can only show my face and arms...
Also I don't have a plain wall behind me, but my bed...
Will these be an issue?
Hello! Just wondering if anyone has attended or knows anything about the Pacific Union College nursing program in NorCal? I can’t find much about it on Reddit or AllNurses. I’ve heard good things about it from those I know that have graduated from it/are in it but not much talk elsewhere, just hoping to hear from others LOL
I haven’t heard any status on the nursing applications for LAVC, LACC, LAHC however I heard Pierce is sending out some!
I got into Vanderbilt’s Master of Nursing program, which lets you become a nurse practitioner in about three years, and is rated 2 in the country for the NP field im interested in. The problem is that it will require my taking 100,000 or more in loans. I don’t want to be a fool, but at the same time people talk highly of their educational experience and it may help my salary prospects as a new psych NP. Does anyone have advice?
20F I failed out out my lpn program I’ve been crying so much my eyes hurt so much I had to pass fundamentals 1 with an 80% which I had but I failed my dosage calculation exam twice which brought my grade below an 80% and you’re required to pass the dosage cal exam with an 80% as well I’m so heartbroken I had the worst 2 months of my life I lost my job, rough relationships with family and my boyfriend, I live alone so the stress of maintaining a job and going to class full time I was also baker acted during the month of October from the unbearable stress I was under. I can’t stop crying becoming a nurse is my passion but unfortunately life decided to hit me all at once. I’m so heartbroken I’ve been crying nonstop it really feels like my life is over. I’ve thought about attending an entirely new program instead waiting for the fall semester again this potential program would start in the spring January 2025 I know it’s a hasty move but I don’t want to lose momentum I want to keep going and pushing forward even though my life feels like it’s over I feel like a failure 😣 all I think about is what I could’ve been if all the distractions and stress I let consume me didn’t happen. I know I’m young and have time but I genuinely feel like my life is over failing out of nursing school is so embarrassing and heartbreaking
Hey guys! I’m enrolling for pre reqs at my cc for the ADN program. I need to be enrolled in English, Biology and Psych to be considered and my advisor recommended to just get it over with and enroll in sociology since it’s a requirement later on. I know for sure I want to take biology in person but do you guys think I should take any others online or in person? I like being taught rather than learning on my own but a lot of people say college professors barely “teach” and just read off slides. Any recommendations?😫
Guyyyyyys I got into an LPN Program also got a plan in process with an advisor to start bridging to the RN program immediately after.

don't know if this is against community rules lmk if it is
Took my Hesi today for sonography and I was so scared but I ended up getting an overall A 😭😭🤍🤍 I studied for so long and I couldn't be happier!!!
that’s all , I’m just really proud of myself and didn’t think I’d make it through nursing school and have surprised myself. I would see others fail anatomy or have low grades and I thought if they can’t do it I can’t either — please do not compare yourself, your not them and everyone has different circumstances and that’s ok :)
I wanna take CHEM 121 and BIO 425 , also ENG 101 and Speech this spring? What do you think? Is it a bad idea?
So is the COVID vaccine still mandatory to start nursing school or work in the medical field ?
I graduated about two years ago from LVN and I have five ATI PN nursing books/Edition 10.0.
If anybody is interested, I live near Mt. Sac College and Iam willing to sell them for $60 or OBO Let me know thanks
