I just finished my prerequisites and now I am studying for the TEAS, I have the momentrix book but I just can’t seem to learn good by reading. So I decided to study quizlet sets instead, has anyone just studied quizlet and made passing score or a high score?

CNA Program or Volunteering?

Hey! I’m considering whether to do a CNA program or volunteering (in some sort of healthcare environment) over the summer, but I’m just not 100% set on either. How was your experience in either? Did you find the CNA program to be worthwhile?

What do RNs study?

What are all the details on the material you study? How difficult is it? How many hours of study per week? How many textbooks are you reading at once? It just seems really intimidating to me, even though I'm a bit above average IQ.

HESI A2

Hi guys. I take my HESI A2 exam for the first time in 10 days. When taking the HESI A2 online proctored exam-what type of room are you allowed to be in? For example, I have a spare bedroom that doubles as an office. It has a bed and a computer desk with my boyfriend’s giant double-screen monitors on it and the computer and printer underneath the desk. The other half of the desk is clear and I keep my laptop there. Is this area going to be a no-go for testing because of the other computer monitors on the desk? I could move them to the floor but it just seems like a huge hassle and I’m not sure if they would be allowed on the floor either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

Do denial letters get sent out first?

I find out in 10 days if I’m in or not, do schools typically send out denial letters first before acceptance letters? I heard, at the school I’m applying for, that people have 24hrs to accept the invitation or they’re out the pool and have to reapply, or maybe I heard it wrong and it restarts each day but you might not get your second invitation until later in the 2 week timeframe. Idk.

Worth retaking TEAS if scored above minimums needed?

My target school is supposed to be decently competitive (about 50% acceptance) and I just completed my TEAS. I scored: 94% Reading 100% Math (Not sure how at all LOL I did not study for math and achieved about 60-70 on practice exams, I assumed I would just take the L there) 75% Science 81% English Language (Again not sure how, I scored in the 90s consistently on practice exams) For a cumulative score of 86.7%.

My target school requires 70% overall with 62% in science, I’m just trying to weigh out if a retake would be worth it

would organic biochemistry count for gen chem requirements for absn programs??

I currently go to rutgers university newark and the chemistry department is honestly a hot mess so I had to withdraw from gen chem 1 and do organic biochemistry instead. However would other schools accept that as a general chem pre req?? I really don’t want to take that class again at Rutgers lol

Accepted into a SoCal ADN program

Super grateful for this opportunity. I’ve had a medical emergency happen to me only a few years back, so this is something that means the entire world to me.

Thank you to everyone who is truly passionate for this field and working their butts off every day to make a difference in health care, whether it be as a pre-nursing student, nursing student, or a nurse.

ATI TEAS 90 Day Test Bank VS. Pocket Prep Question

So I'm doing really well on the Pocket Prep app for the Teas but the ATI Teas 90 Day test bank I'm not doing that well, and I'm honestly wondering if the exam will be as detailed as the test bank cause some of the questions are pretty easy but when it's difficult its really difficult (when I took the practice test to first assess myself it wasn't this bad) Or do you guys think the pocket prep app gives a better idea of what I will score on the real exam?

Would love any advice! Thank You!

Nursing prerequisites 3.6 sciences

I am currently finishing up my prerequisites at National University and am projected to have:

A in A&P1lab/lecture A in A&P 2 lab/lecture B in Microbiology lab/lecture B in BST 322

Would I still have a chance of getting accepted if I got at least a 90 on the TEAS?

Can’t decide which school to attend

Hi everyone, I recently got into Merced College RN program, which will start in the fall of 2024. I also got into Fresno City College RN program, which will start in the spring of 2025. After doing some research regarding first-time NCLEX passing rates, attrition rates, and on-time completion rates, I cannot decide which school will be better.

Edit: Also to add some context to my situation, I recently got hired as an epidemiologist in Redding but want to be a nurse. I did not expect to get into any of the nursing schools and don’t know if It’s worth starting nursing school in January instead of August to get more experience in epidemiology.

Here are the statistics from each school:

Merced College 2020-2021 Attrition rate: 16% On-time completion rate: 84% First-time NCLEX pass rate: 83.02% (cohort size of 53)

Fresno City College 2020-2021 Attrition rate: 9% On-time completion rate: 77% First-time NCLEX pass rate: 74.26% (cohort size of 237)

Any input is greatly appreciated, especially among those that attended either school or know of anyone that attended either school.

Thanks!

Needs 60% on TEAS7 for AAS Nursing Degree. Need tips and advice please

Hi everyone. I’m done with all my prerequisites and about to take the TEAS7. I suck on Math and Science. Has anyone did their TEAS7 earlier this year? Please help. I’ve been using BrandonCraf’s videos and workbook, purchased NurseCheung’s study guide for Science subjects. I also bought the ATI SmartPrep for the quizzes on the app and use those resources but not constantly since I have to take good care of my Son & Mom.

Any helpful advice for Math and Science section is helpful. What portions should I study on this subjects? Recommendations are highly appreciated. Also, for reading and English too. Thank you

Got ADVANCED on the TEAs

I am beyond relieved! I got a 82% on my TEAs. The anxiety that I had was so overwhelming, and honestly think that's why I did not do any better. But I am so happy, as it was a struggle for me. I wanted to make at least a 80 and I did, I am proud of myself. Next step is hopefully getting accepted in nursing school!

Medical assistant diploma?

Some cc’s give you extra points if you are a cna/ma/emt etc and I have been an MA for the past 4 years. I never took the test to get licensed for MA because it was during covid after I finished my program and I started working as an MA anyways. I see at some cc’s it asks for the license or certificate number which I do not have. Just a diploma of completion. Is that acceptable or should I take the test to become officially certified?

ATI TEAs Urgent

Hi everyone,

I have to take the teas by Monday! I took the Mometrix online practice test that is 170 questions (just like the teas) and scored a 70%. All I need is a 60% for the nursing program. Should I take Thursday and have a very high chance of getting a 60 or more or should I keep studying. How was the mometrix practice questions to the ATI teas? Did your scores on practice test close to what you actually scored? Thanks to anyone who comments!

Got accepted into ADN program with pre-reqs from 11 years ago!

I was in a BSN program in 2013 and got Cs in A&P 1 & 2 and micro. Ended up dropping out and switching my degree to health science, but the ADN program said they would take my old nursing classes so I didn’t have to repeat pre-reqs. 82 on the TEAS test and my undergrad gpa was 3.27. I got accepted last week to a program in Ohio! Just wanted to offer a different perspective for people coming into nursing as a second career like me

Can anyone explain this Math question for HESI Exam?

Leslie is blowing up one of her favorite photographs to hang on her wall. If the photo's original length and height were 8 inches and 15 inches, and the new height is 4 feet, how many feet must the new picture be?

Planner reqs

Hey all! I am freaking out just a bit because I'm finishing my spring semester in which I only had to take 2 prereqs, and summer semester starts May 28th.... Or so I thought. Apparently since I'm starting my nursing program I just found out YESTERDAY that we don't get a break between semesters. Meaning all my classes start on Monday, I am not prepared, I'm getting flooded with dozens of class notifications along side my onboarding for clinicals (which thank God actually do start June 1st). I am going to a concert Thursday and spending the day with my husband and kids at COSI on Friday, thinking that I would celebrate the end of my first semester and have time next week to do all my planning for summer. Well apparently not the case, so like I said, I may be freaking out. I am pretty bad at organization (I know... I know...) and I need something that I can use as an easy planner. I do pretty well with physical stuff and I don't like that I cant just flip through pages on a digital planner. Has anyone found a successful way to use a planner, or any specific brands for one? I see a lot of "nursing" planners for like $60 but that's way out of my budget. I am an artist also and my husband suggested I design my own. I might if I have time (lol), but otherwise I'm just here on my notes app and using school planner app, and neither are very helpful. And yes I'm on Reddit procrastinating.... Any help would be appreciated :) thank you!

Advice

So I have spent the better part of the last 4 years working toward a BSN. I started out at a private catholic university in my area because when I decided to start my pre reqs they had 100% pass rate on NCLEX and were considered the best nursing school (at the time, they are no longer). So I did 2 years of pre reqs there to get to the end when you apply the semester before but it’s contingent on you passing that semesters classes. One of those classes was a pathophysiology. They had 1 teacher who taught it who had a drop, fall, withdrawal rate of 85%. Not because of how hard the content was but because of how much content it was. So I took ended up having to take the class twice and still didn’t pass it. Which was honestly for the best because it was EXTREMELY expensive and I wouldn’t have been able to attain the cost in the long run. So I switched to a public university which is now considered the best nursing school in our state and had been for the past 2-3 years. I switched 2 years ago. The nursing program only lets you repeat 2 classes any more than that and you can’t continue in their program. Long story short, I had to repeat one lab class because even if you have an excused absence from a doctor, youve been hospitalized, death in the family, or in a car accident, you only get 1 absence for the whole semester (is that common?) if you go over 1 absence force you to withdrawal or they’ll fail you. So I had 1 fail. Then this semester, which is considered the hardest semester, I was doing great. But I had a teacher who literally asked me personal information about myself and then used that personal information to bully me. They could give us clinical paperwork to do Friday after clinical ended and it was due Monday by 8 am and I would spend 25-30 hours on it, 35 pages long, and she would not have 1 good thing to say at all. I was pouring my whole self into trying to please this woman, I’d ask for help and she’d deny me. Then she started making fun of me during clinicals in front of other students. It was psychologically destroying me. So we had a lab demonstration one day to be graded on and this woman had messed with my head so severely that I second guessed myself during the demo and I ended up failing because of that. And at my school if you fail the lab class, you automatically fail clinicals. So that would be 3 fails I now have. They have progression and retention you can apply to but I was told that the teacher bullying me and all that was not “extenuating circumstances that would be approved for progression and retention.” So now I’m applying for a RN diploma program but I’m so distressed about coming this far with my BSN and not getting it. I would’ve had 1 semester left after this. What would you do in my situation?

TLDR- is a RN diploma program worth doing? Will I get paid drastically less? Should I just try for ADN?

Any advice is welcome

Do nursing school applications need EVERY transcript?

I am going to apply to nursing schools in California in a couple of months. I’m not sure but on Cal State Apply or NursingCAS I was wondering if they needed transcripts from ALL SCHOOLS applicants previously attended.

Funny story is, I was in engineering my freshmen year of university (I learned that I really hated engineering) and I had failed a physics class over the summer at a local community college.

Though that F in physics is unrelated to the nursing applications because they really only care about the prerequisite courses and the TEAs exam, I was wondering if I really needed to provide it anyways. And if I did, would it in anyway negatively hinder my application? I pretty much have all As in every prerequisite course so that physics grade makes me very anxious. I was wondering if they could find out about my physics grade, and if possible I would like to avoid including that in my application.

Note that I have not transferred that physics course from the community college to my main university, so it doesn’t show up on my university transcript.
