I’m 99% sure I have all the settings right, but for some reason when I export a 23 slide PowerPoint as a video, the video is really jacked up. It stays on the first slide for more than three minutes. I have all the times turned off in the PowerPoint and when I exported a video I selected 12 seconds per slide. so the video should be a little over two minutes but it’s over 12 minutes and I am banging my head trying to figure this out?? Can anyone help 😭

I don't get it. I simply want to put a live page into a presentation with some picture and video slides.

For context, it's a presentation that will loop forever showing some stats, data, and video about a solar install, and then show the Solar kiosk page with real time data.

I tried liveweb but that's dead. Also the Web Viewer add-on but it's just a white page, even CNN and Google don't work with it.

How can I do this? Please help

I have a ppt file that I keep updated via local links. When I want to share it, I break the links, otherwise the user can't see the content (content is just pngs).

Last week, that suddenly stopped working. The links update correctly, but clicking "Break Link" under "Links" no longer does anything. Any ideas why?

If I update the source (to exactly the same source as before) I can break the link, but this is extremely tedious.

Despite using powerpoint as my bread-and-butter-tool, I was not aware that through a simple right click on an object, you can set the current formatting as the standard.

This leads to all future objects to be formatted in exactly the same way.

It seems that the format of text boxes is saved separately.

I have (let's call them) 'base documents' PowerPoint Deck A, B, C, D.

These 'base documents' have slides which will have information that is relevant to other PowerPoint documents. I want to be able to create a new PowerPoint document Deck X, which will 'pull from' (linked 'views' of slides) my base documents.

There will be 'views' of slides in Deck A, B, C, D in Deck X. If any of the slides in Deck A, B, C, D are updated, the 'views' of the slides in Deck X will also update to the latest information.

Is this possible?

Is there a hide before animation? if there isn't, then is there anyway i can make a text disappear just before its animation?. I've been having trouble for a while now because i made the text animate letter by letter, i want to make it invisible just before each letter's animation.

I'm trying to animate a text my letter but I'm not seeing the "by letter" option in the "effect options" tab. Did they remove it?

I need my MP3 audio clips to fade out, and so I set the fade out value between 1 and 2.5 seconds depending on the clip. When I go to present mode, the fade out sounds different than it does in edit mode.

There is noticeable abrupt end to each clip in present mode (even though there is still an audible fade out). It almost sounds as if the audio clip in present mode are shorter in general than their counterparts in edit mode? As if the fade out starts when it is supposed to, but the clip is mysteriously shorter anyway so the clip has an abrupt end before the fade out is done.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm looking to deploy a standard powerpoint template to staff using Macs.

For Windows, its as simple as packaging and pushing out a Blank.potx to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates.

Is there an equivalent file name / location for Macs?

Using Windows: Newest PP from Office 365, on the desktop.

I have a presentation with about 35 slides. One of those slides has a video that is embedded.

When the video is played while in edit mode, you can view the entire video. This requires you to click on the 'play' button triangle.

When viewing the presentation in a slideshow, the video automatically runs for about 5 seconds, then stops. The presentation moves forward...but the video never finishes. We just see a frozen frame about 6 seconds in, for what is approximately the duration of the video. This video is only about 10 seconds long and we see about half of it.

So...the video is complete, we can see it in edit mode. But, when in a slideshow, it only shows about half the video.

Anyone know if a way to get the entire video to play?

I have a presentation that contains a series of slides, each containing a YouTube video. While I'm able to advance from one static photo to the next, when it comes to videos, I am unable to use the keyboard or clicker to move to the next video. The up and down arrows (which work to advance to the next photo) bring up a percentage on the screen... the left and right arrows move the video ahead or behind 5 seconds. How in the world can I move to the next video without exiting the presentation??

Hi all, I'm working on MS office 2021, I was working on a file and fixed a textbox while making edits and I right clicked to use that as the default text box. It seems to have no effect. Please help if I'm doing something wrong.

Got a semi hair brained idea to try and create an animated version of a typography based meme that uses retro word art inPowerPoint, and as someone who's been using libre office primarily since 2015 and haven't used word art at all since elementary school with office 03/07, I didn't realize how different it is. I feel like there used to be more/finer control.

Ive been able to use compatibility mode in word and copy over or just outright reverse engineer most of the effects I'm after, but there's one I just can't get to play right, the blue wavy outlined and shadowed impact version.

In the version I'm trying to copy the two key differences that I can't manage to recreate are

1)the letters are extremely tightly kerned causing some overlap and where that happens you see the outline of both letters

2)the word artwaves with 3 valleys/4 peaks

Any one have any insights on how to get one or both of those effects back? Compatibility mode in word gives me the overlapping letters but I can only get a double wave, and then when I copy to PowerPoint even in compatibility mode the overlapping goes away. I think the overlap is the most important element/what really makes it feel different, worst case I think I can cheat the extra wave by making two separate pieces.

Google and the Microsoft help pages have been useless but I can't tell if it's because the functionality is actually truly gone or Google and Microsoft help just being useless these days outside of prescribed functions.

I've been digging around on the internet for a straightforward method of doing what I think/hope must be an easy thing for people with better Powerpoint skills, but I'm striking out and I'm hopeful someone can point me in the right direction.

My goal is to create a set of PPT slides from a single linked/embedded Excel file that contains my data. Ideally, I'd like to be able to modify my data in Excel, then have the changes automatically appear in my slides. I have one table, but would like to create slides that provide 1) a formatted table that displays my data, 2) several bar charts that graphically display several different "cuts" of data from the table.

Maybe this is harder than I think? If not, can someone share a link to a tutorial that will walk me through how to do this?

Hi All, I am trying to find a way to track when a slide was updated the last time. So, within a Presentation, multiple slides could have different last updated times.

Is it possible to have a macro or any other solution that would display when a slide was updated?

Is there a shortcut to make all text on a PowerPoint slide a shade darker? Light blue would be blue, dark blue would be nearly black, etc. ? I would like to make the text fade from light blue to dark with every time I update the slide so that the new information stays light but the old information is dark

I have a really strange behavior currently with PowerPoint. I have several slide decks which I'm using. Today I noticed that if I open a pptx and edit it it automatically removes my layouts. Only those layouts stay which are currently used. In the master slide view all slides are tagged as preserve when deleting the slide.

This only happens, when I save or open a file which is stored in OneDrive.

Does anyone know this and can provide a solution?

I'm using M365 for Enterprise. Current PowerPoint Version: 2409 (18025.20160)

So I'm trying to create an interactive quiz for a presentation that will show images of pre made multiple choice questions on the screen, give everyone the chance to answer in an interactive poll, and then move to the next question and do the same thing. The problem is that every tutorial I've seen only addresses how to do this with one slide, I only want the audience to have to scan the QR code once, not a new one for each new slide. Also, I would like to be able to hide the results of the poll, and only show them to the audience optionally, as if they can see other peoples answer this will influence their decision. If slido or any other third party would work for this, either on its own or in conjunction with powerpoint, I'm open to that too. I would really appreciate any advice, thank you.

I have a local screen share from a tablet that I need to include in a power point slide. it is http not https so the web viewer addin wont work.

Is there any other way to view a url live within a slide?

Using pp and can’t work out how to make a picture appear and disappear as part of a sequence of photos I want to automate. I can get them to appear one after the other but I can’t see where the options are to do anything else. Every YouTube video, google search, or ChatGPT instructions tells me to use options I just can’t see - or find. Version is PP for Mac, 16.90.
