Navigating the Jungle of AI PowerPoint Tools - Would this help you?

TL;DR:
The AI presentation tool market is a jungle with 70+ options, making it hard to find the right one. I’m thinking of creating a comprehensive, filterable list (by pricing, formats, industry, features, etc.) to help people navigate and choose the best tool for their needs. Would this be helpful, and what filters would you want included?

---

You’ve likely seen the same question pop up on this subreddit every few weeks: “What’s the best AI tool for PowerPoint presentations?” The pinned post here already does a great job showcasing some AI tools and sparking discussions, but the landscape is evolving.

The Story:

I’m a software engineer, and I recently spoke with a small-to-medium consulting firm looking to streamline their presentation workflow using generative AI. They described two pain points:

  1. Finding specific slides quickly: For example, “I don’t remember the exact title, but it had a bar chart and an image of a real estate property.”
  2. Generating new slides automatically—either from existing templates or directly from customer data.

To help them, I dove into the world of AI presentation tools, looking for solutions that could meet their needs without requiring them to build something from scratch.

What I Found:

Wow. There are a lot of tools out there. My research led me to over 70 different AI-powered presentation solutions—and that’s probably not all of them. Some focus on slide creation, others on content suggestions and so on.

The Idea:

Rather than letting all this research go to waste, I thought: What if I compile an extensive, well-organized list of AI presentation tools? The goal would be to create a resource that helps people quickly find the right tool for their needs.

I’m considering including filters like:

  • Pricing: Free, free tier, monthly, or annual subscription.
  • Supported formats: PPTX, Google Slides, or both.
  • Industry focus: Education, consulting, startups, etc.
  • Unique features: Semantic slide search, data-driven slide creation, template customization, etc.

My Questions to You:

  1. Would a resource like this actually help you decide on the right tool?
  2. What other filters or criteria should I include to make it more useful?
  3. Is this something you’d be interested in?

If you made it to the end, thanks for reading! Your feedback would mean a lot as I decide whether to invest more time into this project. Let me know your thoughts!

Why do slides seem to slide left or right?

I've noticed that switching between slides that their positions can be different. I didn't consciously do anything that would do this, unless I unwittingly hit some key combination or something. I don't print anything in PowerPoint, the presentations I create are shown up on a screen in Slide Show mode. And when they are displayed like that, they're not showing in different positions. They're positioned a bit left or right of each other.

So it's not a terrible thing, but I'm curious as to what might be causing it to happen. It's bothering me every time I see it because sometimes I'm trying to align text to appear in the same position on two different slides, and the slides being in different positions makes it impossible.

[Advice needed] Resizing slides for specific screen

I need to resize a presentation for a screen that is 33' wide and 10' high. I understand how to resize the slides, but don't understand what size I should make my custom slides. Would a Widescreen (16:9) still work? I have many videos as part of the presentation. Do I need to do anything special to resize them?
Many thanks!

Split the next slide and current slide on separate monitors

Hey all,

Is there a way I could send a feed of the next slide to a monitor and the current slide to a different monitor? All of the resources I've seen say that you can do this in Presenter View, but I can't figure out how to split them up like that. I'm going to be running the powerpoint off stage while the performers of the show are on stage triggering the slides. They've requested two monitors in addition to the main projector, one for next slide and the other for current slide so they don't have to keep turning around to look at the screen. Is this possible?

Only one line showing in normal view

Hi guys !

I'm starting to think that I was hallucinating what I thought was working. Let me explain:

When creating a new text placeholder in master slide view, I format each level and preset text so the people using that template know what that text-box is made for and what it is supposed to look like. Something like this:

Title
Text in 1 or 2 lines
Text in 1 or 2 lines

But when I get back to my normal view and apply that layout (and reset it just in case). My empty placeholder looks like that:

Title

It doesn't show the 2 second levels lines I filled for the preview.

Is that a normal behavior of powerpoint? Even with two level 1 lines, it only shows the first one.

Thanks

Best way to create detailed historical timelines with precise scaling and multiple elements?

I currently use PowerPoint for my historical timeline creation (s. below for an example of what I want to achieve), as I need it for other slides within the same presentation. I know that a slide is 33.86 cm wide, so I usually build my timelines from 0.43 cm to 33.43 cm, leaving a small margin on both sides and making the total timeline 33 cm.

When placing events, I calculate their position using proportional scaling. For example, if my timeline spans 100 years and an event happens 40 years in, I calculate its position as 33/100 * 40 = 13.2 cm. I then create a box aligned with the start of the timeline (left side) and set its width to 13.2 cm. This allows me to place any event or mark the beginning of a period precisely at the right side of the box.

While this approach works, it can be tedious and time-consuming, especially when managing multiple events or adjusting for complex periods. I’m looking for a more efficient solution that simplifies proportional scaling and offers customization flexibility without disrupting my PowerPoint-based workflow.

I am on a Mac, in case that is relevant. Any tips, tools, or software recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Can I distribute horizontally pictures across all my slides?

I can do that for a picture in a single slide by clicking on the picture > goto picture format > align objects. But I want to apply this to the picture across all slides in my presentation at once.

EDIT: windows, 2024 PowerPoint, desktop

How do I make an instant flickering rotation animation

I'm creating a themed powerpoint with stars in the background that I want to switch between two rotations every few seconds, but I don't want any animation duration. So basically, I want the stars to start of at, say, 0°, and then after a few seconds, instantly switch to 1°, before switching back after a few seconds, kind of like a flickering neon sign. Does anyone have any ideas how I can do this?

I'm using Powerpoint 2016 for Windows.

No video / audio in PowerPoint presentation recording

Hello all,

I feel like I'm beating my head against a wall with this issue. I'm working on a new laptop and using Microsoft 365. I've built my presentation and now need to record video and audio giving the presentation for an assignment. I've checked my sound settings and windows recognizes audio from my microphone, its set as the default device, and other apps (like discord) also are registering my voice. My laptop's built-in camera shows a live preview in the working view of the slideshow when I select "cameo", but when I go to "record" the cameo video bubbles are all gone in that view. I tried recording anyway, and sure enough when I went to export, it was a video of the slide show that I'd recorded but there were no cameo video bubbles, and no audio from my mic.

I checked permissions, and my camera and mic are both set to allow apps to use them and show "Microsoft One Note" with the PowerPoint icon having "accessed" both of them at the times I tried the recordings.

Drivers are up to date.

I have no idea what to do. I uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft 365, and it did nothing. I also opened another fresh presentation and tried to record and it doesn't work on that either, so it's not this specific project that's corrupted.

Screenshot of the video bubble being visible in the preview: (I know the camera is turned off, it does that automatically when opening the snipping tool. It's showing a live camera feed when snip is closed)

Here is the record view. As you can see, my camera and mic are enabled, the physical green light is on indicating my camera is capturing, but there is no cameo video in the corners of the slides, and the audio doesn't record.

Anyone have any ideas?

-----------------------------

Update 29 Nov

I've realized there's another issue with powerpoint as well. When I click the record button at the top (even though no audio or video are being captured), once I stop the recording I get the error "An error occurred with the recording. Please try again."

When I try and record only audio I also get this error when I try to play the recorded audio: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

I tried quick repair and online repair both today. Neither has fixed the issue.

I have a question, it's about Slidebazaar.com

(Edited, I am using Windows and Slidebazaar is currently Windows only)
Is Slidebazaar a safe free PowerPoint theme Website? I subscribed to their channel and have added them into a Playlist of PowerPoint tips, but when I found out they had their own website and even a way to make PowerPoints faster, I asked if it was safe or not. Not many people have recommended this website when people asked for free and safe free powerpoint themes (I only saw on person that did recommend it).

Is it safe or not

I need an answer.

Any powerpoint user here? I have questions

So I randomly started learning about powerpoint today, pretty much know how to use it now in the span of just 4-5 hours.

I am planning to create some badahh crazy slides, full of transitions and graphics (cuz I'm a graphic designer too) .. so I came to know about the "morph" transition, which I think seems like the most important transition for making my slide... But in my powerpoint I don't see any morph transition, neither do I see any 3D pictures option like the one I saw on YouTube tutorials. Some say that I have wrong settings, some say that I have to 'buy' powerpoint.. I'm confused, I already have a Powerpoint which is free to use .. or I have to 'buy' any premium version of it? If yes, then how and how much it would cost.. though I'm not planning to buy it, just asking.

Also, I need to know.. suppose I successfully create slide using some other platforms (WSP) , and there is morph transition available... Now if I save it and send to someone who doesn't maybe have WSP or Powerpoint premium, will be be able to see morph transition normally? And if not, how to tackle this.. if yes, then why many people not use WSP .. it's free and it seems like have all premium features.

One and last question, is it possible to blur the images in powerpoint?

Highlight talking points in slides

I hope I’m able to explain this correctly.

I’ve to put together a deck of someone who will present. This person is extremely technical and well able to speak to their bullet points, but the problem is there’s so much on screen at the time, it’s hard to see which butter they’re speaking to.

Is there a way of dimming everything around that particular point as they speak through their slides?

They want to have everything on screen initially, but then work through point by point as they progress
