I was deadlifting today and thought I had accidentally grabbed a smaller bar…

Nope! Pole dancing has given me so much more grip strength that the act of grabbing a barbell has become easier.

I’ve only been at it for two months, and was never expecting this change! So cool!

Injured - what can I work on in the meantime? 🥲

Hi guys, I’m very much a baby poler (6 months) - I unfortunately injured my left hip flexor, it hurts/feels strained whenever I lift it (literally any movement to do with it, leg raises, fake splittys, basic pole climb etc)

My physio has recommended me to not pole in general for at least a week or two. They’ve also given me a few exercises to do as well.

However, do you have any specific suggestions/alternatives on what (if any) I - can - do/work on without aggravating my injury? (Like floor work things, or stuff I can with the pole without my hips)

I’m not a particularly coordinated person, so I’ve been at the studio practicing anywhere between 4-6 times a week to try and compensate. I’m worried about forgetting movements as I rely heavily on my muscle memory…

Thanks in advance for any advice 🙏🙇‍♀️

16ft ceiling for pole

Does anyone have ceilings up to 16 feet who successfully put up a tention pole? I have the Lupit Pole with one extension. I emailed the company and they said that their polls only go up to 11 feet but I was wondering if anyone successfully put up more extensions.. I’m kind of sad that I paid $500 for a pole and it can’t even fit my ceilings. Or is there a way to add a block or something to shorten the ceiling just wear the pole would be if that makes any sense? Any advice would help, thank you.

Wrist Rehab and strengthening

I'm still in my first year of pole and I'm trying to make sure I don't exacerbate any known problems.....which is where my left wrist comes into play. I noticed with some of the moves where my left wrist in bearing the weight of some of my body for support or where my left wrist is at the bottom of a split grip, half bracket grip or any variation, I feel a pain in my wrist/forearm area. This wrist often likes to overwrap on spins which hurts in the same way. It's just a problem child all around.
I'm sure other people have probably had this issue and I'm looking to see what you did to rehab/strengthen your wrist to make this go away. I don't want to make this worse and since I'm still at the beginner level I figured I'd have more time to deal with this before it prevents me from advancing. Any YouTube videos/articles (ideally with pics) would help me greatly come up with a wrist routine. Thank you in advance!!!

What are some tricks that look amazing with heels?

Hi! I'm in a group routine and i'm looking for tricks on the pole that look especially good in heels! Our group level is intermediate, but no inverted moves as my studio doesn't teach inverted moves until we can deadlift invert/chopper (other than laybacks). The only things I've thought of is Jasmine, Russian fish, hello boys/wrist sit, apprentice, and shi shi spin. Those are kind of my go-tos tho so I'd like some new ideas. TIA!

Need recommendations on the best pole to buy for our apartment

Hi everyone! I’m new here and admittedly know very little about pole dancing, but I’m looking for some advice. My girlfriend used to take pole dancing classes back when she lived in Chicago, and she’s mentioned several times that she’d love to get back into it now that we’re in Florida. I’d love to surprise her with a pole for our apartment so she can start practicing again.

Since we live in an apartment, I’m looking for a pole that doesn’t require screws or anything that could damage the floor or ceiling. Any recommendations on what type of pole would work best in a rental space? Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!

Recovering from pole class

Hi ~ I'm wondering how quickly everyone recovers from pole class? I'm still a beginner I would say. I've been going to class pretty much consistently once a week for about 6 months now (except for one month when I went home to visit my family) and I feel pretty good about the progress I've made. I was never an athletic person so it was quite the surprise for me how much I can achieve with the little strength I have.

At my studio, I have a subscription that allows me to go to class 4 times a month and if you don't use up all your "tickets" you don't lose them but you can use them in the following months additionally to the regular 4 times. Since I took a break two months ago I still have some tickets I can use but I really don't know if I can go more than once a week. In the beginning, I needed a week for the soreness and bruises to go away. Now, soreness is not really an issue anymore but I started using a grip aid due to slippery hands which leads to my fingers blistering and that also takes about a week to become bearable again.

Right now I'm not really worried about progress or not being good enough or anything but I often see posts on here of beginners who train 2 or even 3 times a week and I just don't know how that's possible. I have so much fun in class and would love to practice more often but my hands would probably start bleeding if I did that. I put on lotion immediately after class every time and it really stings a lot. On top of that, Level 1 classes at my studio are on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays so the furthest I could possible space out my classes would only be 2 days apart and I like going on Tuesdays usually anyways.

I'm sorry this turned into a rambling session but I would really like to be able to go more often without tearing my skin open. Especially since I have these additional tickets that I can't seem to use up lol.
