Hello! i’m 17 and looking to volunteer this holiday but i’m not really sure about the process of finding volunteer work. I know that you can apply for some online (I was looking at volunteer central and even the youthline) but i’m really unsure of how to apply and approach these people. I’m more looking for retail work, food banks and possibly elderly depending on the job. Anything would help me.
Question is in the title, am looking to move to palmy and a place in Takaro has come up so thought Id give you guys opinion a go :)
Hey just wanted to ask tnx
Hi, we are interested in sub-dividing a section in PN (Milson) and haven't done anything like this before. Can anyone suggest a website or a guide that would walk us through the steps, outline things to consider, things to avoid etc?
Any recommendations for good PN surveyors or other experts who we'll need to talk to? Also, what sort of cost would we be looking at (we're on a very tight budget but want to do this properly)?
PN City Council have given us helpful info and pointed out particular clauses in the District Plan to note. However there's a lot of information and it's written in a formal, legal way and it would be really helpful if there was some kind of guide to help us figure out what we need to do.
If relevant, the proposed site would be slightly under the minimum 350m2 required, and the Council have told us this would result in a Restricted Discretionary Activity. It looks like it may be doable on a slightly smaller site, but I'm mentioning this in case that's worth noting for any suggestions. Thank you.
Health hub are shit, unfortunately, never send prescriptions in time, always fuck it up somehow, second guessing my specialist.
I'm going to probably change to Massey student health services, be studying next year, but anybody like their doctor
I work in ashurst sometimes and constantly go over the bridge I'm just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of where I'd exit if I entered on a kayak at the ashurst bridge spot? Trying to sort logistics out so I know where to have a vehicle parked
Hi Palmy, Just wondering if anyone has some recommendations for dog teeth cleaning.
We did this a while back and it was very expensive. We have a few dogs and cant afford to do this too often, so if anyone knows where to go please let me know.
Thank you in advance.
Title. Haven’t been to the doctor in years and the old one in a different town I used to live in retired. It’d be nice to find one which is good and has a good rep.
Need to get a full quote on what needs to be done. Leaking some oil and coolant.
I remember last year PNCC came out with a $15 Million proposal for a marae on top of Summerhill Drive (with Visitors Centre, Bus Station etc).

Apart from that news article I havn't heard anything else about it.
According to the article: The price tag for the new facility could be around $15 million, an investment Palmerston North residents would be invited to comment on during next year’s long-term plan consultation.
Has anyone seen anything else from the council about it?
Sorry team, never been great with numbers or reading.
Is this saying it costs near 20 dollars for a trip to wellington and that's the 50% rate? And that it's normally 40 dollars. And is 10 trips over 200?
If that's the case, I can see why trains are struggling atm. Not really a viable choice unless you're rolling in money.train prices
I had a couple ideas why it might be…but wondered if anyone knew the answer. Why are there so many houses near the city centre that look lived in but are in such terrible condition?
Driven past a couple of times and notice heavy machinery on the walking path next to bridge where Tremaine ave and Seddon street meet. Just curious as to what work they’re doing as it looks like they have a large drilling machine.
Kia Ora Palmy peeps! My son is studying there and staying over the summer break to work, but his boss has gone back on his promises of extra shifts. He’s trying to look for a new job but isn’t having much luck and he’s getting pretty stressed about money. I was wondering if anyone knows of any local organisations that do cheap vege boxes or similar, that I can sign him up to and pay for? Thanks!
Gonna be in town for 2 months and looking for a place to rent that isnt a hotel/ motel. Any options or ideas?
Not exactly sure which provider my family is with right now (thinking spark fibre) but the progressive decline in our wifi speed and quality is insane - especially right now with it being windy it barely works 😭
any suggestions for a reliable wifi provider that doesn’t crap out at the slightest hint of bad weather? For an urban palmy addy ?
Is there anywhere in the Manawatu area that does mobile kitchens for hire? I've got myself in a pickle where I've set up a large order for chilled goods and need to be able to store it safely until sold over a week..
Thanks :)
Hiya
I will be moving to palmy next year for vet school from the bay of islands and I'm really struggling with the idea just due to the environment (farmy). I have grown up on the sea my entire life from the hauraki to the B.o.i and from what I saw on a recent (albeit rainy) visit there is just no beaches in parmy and the surrounding ones look like muriwai style which is fine but not exactly safe and relaxing swimming, especially if solo.
Do you have any local insight into beaches in the Manawatu area etc? Or anything else that may be of beachy/watery interest?
Hi Palmy, does anyone have any recommendations for where a complete beginner could try out yoga? I see there are a few places in town from Googling, but interested to see if anyone in r/Palmy has had any good experiences from a beginner's perspective :) Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has any history or links to history around Milson area. There’s an old 1930s villa there for sale and I’m just wondering if there’s any history around it.
Not going to post the address but easy enough to find on trademe.
Hi Palmy, Just a quick question, what's the best way to get rid of an old bike, and bike tyres. I imagine it's a trip to the dump, but was wondering if there was a metal recycling that'd take a bike or something else. Just to be clear the bike is broken beyond fixing and any useful parts have been put into other bikes.
Cheers everyone.
On behalf if a friend:
Hello was wondering if anyone has some chicken feathers. preferably tail feathers but any will do. It's for a craft project and I'm wanting some natural feathers. I don't like the store bought factory look. Plz and thank u in advance.
So by now you might know that you can recycle your bottles in the curbside recycling, but is it now a thing where you also can't put plastic lids in the bins?
I run a recycling scheme in the Manawatu and am looking for more collection points so I can have more material to create new products.
If you're keen to create a small stash, I'm willing yo collect from you 😀
