What I've discovered is my brother's tryin' to be
The next me, yeah I support him, but he's blinded I see
Jealousy, he love me to death and I'm buggin'
I love him for life, we both still mournin' on our mother's life
Nas was just 3 straight minutes of lyrical FIRE on this one! Streets Disciple is up there with Made you Look and Live at BBQ for best Braggadocio raps from Nas🔥🔥🔥
Without the tracks 'Big Girl' and 'You Owe Me', Nastradamus would be a solid 8 or 8.5/10.
One of my favorite Nas freestyles. He always comes from left-field with bars few would’ve ever thought of.
I was just listening to Warrior’s Song. That joint doesn’t get it’s just due. Some of my others are Untitled, Disciple, Life We Chose, Blunt Ashes, Small World, Project Windows, and You Wouldn’t Understand.
Ruc got Nas on this track, no question, though he did rap more on it. His rhyme schemes were more intricate, with multi-syllabic rhymes and internal patterns that gave his verse way more depth. Plus, his cadence was on another level—he switched flows smoothly and stayed locked into the beat the whole time, keeping his verse fresh and exciting.
Nas is the GOAT, no doubt, but on this track, Ruc got em! Thoughts?
Nas for some reason only has 1 Essential Album on Apple Music and it recently just changed to only It Was Written.
It seems to be a mistake but it's weird because previously it was only The Lost Tapes
Below is what I think Nas essential albums are (in order of year)
Illmatic
It Was Written
Stillmatic
The Lost Tapes
Life Is Good
King's Disease III
Final Score: Nas 5 - Jay 2...your thoughts?
Halftime may be my favourite song off the album. It’s the song I come back to the most and I think it’s another perfect song from start to finish.
"I'm Illmatic, you wont make it home like Jerome's Niece" - Immortal Technique
"You're like God's Son, but all I hear is a bunch of Nah's" - some battle rapper's rebuttal when they compared themselves to Nas
...
I feel like I am... doesn't really get talked about that much. Everyone always praises Illmatic and IWW and talk about which one they like the most, Nastradamus is infamous for being not up to standards for Nas, Lost Tapes is one of the best compilation albums oat and Stillmatic is known for his Jay-Z diss and return to form.
I am... kind of gets left in the dust, despite having bangers like Nas is like and N.Y State of Mind pt 2
What do y'all think of it?
Nas completely reinvented himself as a rapper every since he teamed up with Hit-Boy. Nas was often criticized for not selecting good beats for some of his albums and those gaps were filled by working with Hit-Boy and Hit-Boy gave Nas high quality production for his King Disease albums. King Disease trilogy has also been critically acclaimed by music reviewers. That’s why at least one album in the KD trilogy should be in everyone’s top 3 in Nas’ discography
Whether it be wordplay/punchlines/metaphors/entendres, deep lines, or just very hard hitting lines, what are some of your favorite bars by Nas?
In Memory Lane he says he dropped out of Coolie High gassed up by a cokehead cutiepie. Did the cutiepie convince him that he can get rich without an education or does it mean something else?
