Nas with his mother + Jungle

What I've discovered is my brother's tryin' to be

The next me, yeah I support him, but he's blinded I see

Jealousy, he love me to death and I'm buggin'

I love him for life, we both still mournin' on our mother's life

Nastradamus Thoughts

Without the tracks 'Big Girl' and 'You Owe Me', Nastradamus would be a solid 8 or 8.5/10.

Nas - Funk Flex Freestyle ’97

One of my favorite Nas freestyles. He always comes from left-field with bars few would’ve ever thought of.

What are your favorite “deep cuts?”

I was just listening to Warrior’s Song. That joint doesn’t get it’s just due. Some of my others are Untitled, Disciple, Life We Chose, Blunt Ashes, Small World, Project Windows, and You Wouldn’t Understand.

Ruc killed it 🗣️🔥

Ruc got Nas on this track, no question, though he did rap more on it. His rhyme schemes were more intricate, with multi-syllabic rhymes and internal patterns that gave his verse way more depth. Plus, his cadence was on another level—he switched flows smoothly and stayed locked into the beat the whole time, keeping his verse fresh and exciting.

Nas is the GOAT, no doubt, but on this track, Ruc got em! Thoughts?

Essential Apple Music Nas Albums

Nas for some reason only has 1 Essential Album on Apple Music and it recently just changed to only It Was Written.

It seems to be a mistake but it's weird because previously it was only The Lost Tapes

Below is what I think Nas essential albums are (in order of year)

  1. Illmatic

  2. It Was Written

  3. Stillmatic

  4. The Lost Tapes

  5. Life Is Good

  6. King's Disease III

be honest, how many times has Nas washed Jay or vice versa every time they collaborated?

  1. Analyze This/No Love Lost - Nas blazed it and Jay was too laid back, asking questions with that "Imaginary Player" flow
  2. Black Republican - Nas by a slim margin. Jay had a good multi-syllable going "thought you was nothing other than the son of my mother's friend" with Nas replying "what?", but lost me when he just started making up words that rhymed like "chi-ching, miss thang, ain't the same"... Jay tried the dipset "rhyme as long as you can with the same rhyming words" pattern but didn't have the swag to keep us from falling into boredom...Nas tried the same scheme but changed it up when he did the acrobat line
  3. Success - Nas got it, "My villain appearance/sacred blood of a king and my vein ain't spilling...i climax to paper and ask why is life worth living?"..."Like Mike Jacks ATV pub, Mottola can't touch"...slick diss to the whole industry signing away their publishing and 360 deals, which Jay also had after he retired
  4. I Do It for Hip Hop - Nas got it...Jay came through with the recycled MC Shan impersonation, and then dissed Jaz-O and talking about washing his socks, totally lost me
  5. BBC - Jay got it despite biting Mase to begin his rhymes, too bad BBC means something else nowadays. it was an album supposedly recorded in a week like Makaveli so rushed lyrics is what you're going to get
  6. sorry not sorry - was a sorry ass song that shouldn't even have came out. Jay got it with his B triple entendre. Nas sounded bored out of his mind and tanked his own lyrics with "hear ye, hear ye", like what century are we in? and there was random freemason imagery in the music video but the explanation videos explaining them were all removed within the week of that music video dropping
  7. Bath Salts - Nas got it, despite taking the lil wayne line about being an alien and some easy alphabet bars, you know akademiks was twerking in his seat when he heard his name

Final Score: Nas 5 - Jay 2...your thoughts?

My favourite song off Illmatic

Halftime may be my favourite song off the album. It’s the song I come back to the most and I think it’s another perfect song from start to finish.

What are some punchlines involving Nas you have heard?

"I'm Illmatic, you wont make it home like Jerome's Niece" - Immortal Technique

"You're like God's Son, but all I hear is a bunch of Nah's" - some battle rapper's rebuttal when they compared themselves to Nas

Do y'all like I am...?

I feel like I am... doesn't really get talked about that much. Everyone always praises Illmatic and IWW and talk about which one they like the most, Nastradamus is infamous for being not up to standards for Nas, Lost Tapes is one of the best compilation albums oat and Stillmatic is known for his Jay-Z diss and return to form.

I am... kind of gets left in the dust, despite having bangers like Nas is like and N.Y State of Mind pt 2

What do y'all think of it?

One of the albums in the KD trilogy should at least be in the top 3 of Nas’ best albums list for every Nas fan

Nas completely reinvented himself as a rapper every since he teamed up with Hit-Boy. Nas was often criticized for not selecting good beats for some of his albums and those gaps were filled by working with Hit-Boy and Hit-Boy gave Nas high quality production for his King Disease albums. King Disease trilogy has also been critically acclaimed by music reviewers. That’s why at least one album in the KD trilogy should be in everyone’s top 3 in Nas’ discography

What role did the cokehead cutie pie play in Nas dropping out of high school

In Memory Lane he says he dropped out of Coolie High gassed up by a cokehead cutiepie. Did the cutiepie convince him that he can get rich without an education or does it mean something else?
