Researchers at the University of Ottawa would like to conduct 90-minute telephone interviews with anyone who has used mifepristone (also known as the abortion pill, medication abortion, or medical abortion) to end a pregnancy.
You are eligible if you:
- Used mifepristone to have an abortion on or after January 1, 2015
- Were living in cities and towns within Wisconsin State such as Madison, Sun Prairie, Deforest, Cottage Grove, Mc Farland, Monona, Fitchburg, Waunakee, Verona and Middleton.
- Are sufficiently fluent in English or French to answer interview questions
- Have access to a telephone, Skype, or Zoom
During the interview, we will ask you series of questions about your background, your reproductive health history, and the circumstances surrounding the pregnancy. We will also ask you to tell us about your experience obtaining an abortion with pills and we will ask you to tell us about ways in which you think that services could be improved.
All participants will receive a $40 gift certificate to www.amazon.com. Participation is both voluntary and confidential. Spots for this study are filled on a first come, first served basis.
Please note that the abortion pill is not the same thing as emergency contraception, also known as Plan B or "the morning after pill."

You are invited to participate in a focus group about the body experiences among transgender, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming individuals. If you are transgender, nonbinary, or gender-nonconforming and are 18 years of age or older, you are eligible to participate in this study. You will be asked to join a small group in a private space to provide feedback on a set of statements related to one’s body and body image. You may be asked to reflect on your own body experiences, if you are comfortable. It should take you approximately 60 minutes to complete.
You will be paid $15 cash for your participation.
This study has been approved by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Achievement Connections is an AmeriCorps program that creates five dedicated math tutoring centers at local high schools. Supervised by school staff and supported by a team of AmeriCorps members and volunteers, these tutoring centers provide one-on-one support to a diverse set of students struggling in Algebra 1 and Geometry. Together with our partners, we aim to help students graduate at the same rate regardless of their race or socioeconomic status, and in doing so, help close opportunity gaps to make Dane County a better place to live.

We are led by the United Way of Dane County, the Madison Metropolitan School District, the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District, and the Morgridge Center for Public Service at UW-Madison. The Math Tutor is an AmeriCorps member who provides relationship-based, individualized, one-on-one support to students struggling in Algebra or Geometry. Located at one of our five schools and supervised by MMSD staff, this collaborative, team-based position serves students during the school day and immediately after, working with students for at least a semester if not a full year.

AmeriCorps Math Tutor Position Responsibilities:
● Support diverse students in a fun and professional manner that encourages their attendance, engagement, and long-term investment in their math learning.
● Employ best practices to work with youth from diverse racial/cultural populations.
● Support students’ success in their math course, helping with homework and test preparation. ● Develop individualized foundational skills worksheets to use on a regular basis.
● Coach students in organizational and academic skills to promote independent learning.
● Track and evaluate student progress through session logs and check-ins.
● Work closely with teachers to ensure that tutoring services align with classroom curriculum, including attending classes as an observer.
● Participate in content creation for program materials and volunteer resources as needed.
