Fire tablets are not Kindle e-readers. Amazon dropped the Kindle name from the tablets a few years back. Head over to: r/kindlefire

I have an old Kindle Keyboard with 3G (Kindle 3) I bought in 2010 that has a battery that won't take electrons. It's in great shape with a flip cover (that also is in great shape with a retractable light no less!). I used to rely on the 3G to get content when traveling overseas back then but now that function is probably not needed anymore as WiFi is available even in the Himalayas these days! It was pretty cool to be able to download books in India in the middle of nowhere though.
I can get a new battery for around $20 and install it myself but, at the same time, Amazon will give me $5 for the Kindle and a $20 off a new one. If I were to go the replacement route, I'd probably get a 2024 Basic but then would have to get a cover and so on -- more money to the big "A".
Should I repair the old dinosaur and soldier on? What say you? I don't think that the 3G on the Kindle Keyboard is even supported any longer but wifi should still work, right? Am I just throwing good money after bad with this idea? HA! My newest car is 6 years older than this Kindle so it's sort of in-character for me to consider the repair route...
Why is it double? I redownload and it’s just there. Not sure how to remove it? Has this happened to anyone before?
Anybody know if I can still buy this color :/ in my online search I’m coming up empty :(
Looking for 16gb, preferably 2023 version (I believe that’s when the denim one came out). Not a fan of metallic colors
Hi friends, So as the title says, I’m looking into getting my first kindle. For the last two years I’ve been reading on an older iPad mini (still has the thumb print sensor) anyways, a crack from before me has now turned into multiple spiderwebbing cracks. As I literally only use this iPad for Kindle and the Libby app, I figure it’s high time to seriously consider getting a kindle. I’ve done some research but I’m not really sure what I’m looking for. I do want something with good battery, does well in the sun (regarding the glare) and water resistant (bath/pool/beach)
Tried the colorsoft and returned it. Had the signature for a bit and went through 4 replacements before giving up.
Has anyone had better luck with the regular kindle paperwhites?
Bluetooth is versatile and ubiquitous, yeah?
But a device specifically made to display text one page at a time doesn't offer a Bluetooth remote, mouse support or anything similar?
Or am I misreading things?
I've tried a few Bluetooth devices and the only one that paired was a pair of headphones...
The clip-on remote page turner thing is neat and all, but, all the framework is there for a remote...
Page +/-, brightness +/-, zoom/size- could be so powerful!
Is there nothing, even in the pipeline, that'll do this?
Is there any way to remove this white line on the left hand side of the screen? I’m using an iPad if that helps.
I'm seeing everyone with amazingly personalized kindles and mine (paperwhite and scribe) are essentially stuck wearing a "uniform" while the rest of yours look AMAZING!
I live in New Zealand, when I bought my scribe about 4months ago, nearly a dozen stores later and I have myself a pink cover. That was my ONLY option (don't get me wrong it's fine, I just wanted something to protect it! But can't find anything else!!) I could hardly hunt down a scribe with premium pen!
I'm being pretty darn honest when I say that a pink case, that's about as personalized as you get! But I'm seeing all these amazing unique covers, stickers and so much more and as we slowly head into winter, my kindles want some love! PLEASE 🙏 direct me to your favourite accessories, literally ANYTHING (page turners "aren't a thing here!") to make my kindle love a happier place! Truly anything at all, but particularly a good case for my scribe and pen....
But also just things you've bought and loved/has helped you personalize your kindles please?! It can be sleeves, cases, and not just clear ones, I feel like I need to "redecorate" my kindles for winter like I'm doing with my bedroom after leaving my awful husband! The kindles and I need a fresh start please! Stickers, page turners, honestly ANYTHING at all! If I suddenly decide on a whim to change it up, I want it ALL! Same with page turners/stands etc. There's no "wrong answer" on this one!!
I use my kindles like some people live on their phones, so to have something that feels like "me" would be really nice after having to hide that for quite some time! Thank youuuu!✨️
Im studying Japanese and want to start incorporating more reading with Japanese manga and novels. However, I’m not able to buy Japanese kindle books on my account since I don’t have a Japanese address. Is this a thing with modding? It’s my only gripe with kindles is region locked bookstores.
I just searched "May," hoping to get results regarding the month of May. Instead I got dozens of may, maybes, and even mayonnaise and mayo. But only one May.
I know Google has ways to use quotation marks to help get more relevant searches, does Kindle have anything? Even if it's just the app and not the actual device
Second related question that I anticipate I'm just SOL, my 2015 Kindle can't search the book. It can search through my notes, but always 0 results from the book. Any ideas there? Jail break options to fix that function? It's not supported by Amazon anyway so if I break it, that's just another excuse to upgrade
Has anyone found they can't tick the check box for "Convert partial-text to full-text" because it's greyed out. I paid the subscription to get this feature but it's not working which is frustrating. If anyone can let me know how to gst get it to work I'll be very grateful!
Where has everyone listened to the last 4 books in the TOG series in audiobook form? They’re not on Libby or hoopla and I can only find them on audible for $30 each. Thanks in advance! I dot mind paying but $30 each is a lot!
Designed and printed my wife a case for her page turner. She had a nice checkered bag but it was fairly bulky. Pretty common turner found on amazon.
Unfortunately, there is no kindle case available anywhere near me. I had to improvise as when God showered clumsiness, I took my soap and shampoo and had a full bath under it 😅😂
They are only sold online and sellers are in China. All of them are on holiday until the 4th so it won't arrive until middle of this month or March. 🥲
Please pray for my kindle. This is my first one (preloved with scratches but still) 🤞🤞
P.s. any recommendations for a very easy DIY would me highly appreciated.
When I tell you I am obsessed with this device
There’s a version of kindle you can buy off of amazon that includes KU for 3 months but I get this error message. What gives?? 😭
TL: DR- Kindle paperwhite ordered Jan 03 hasn’t been delivered, and I’ve not received an email that it’s even going to ship. What advice would you give me?
The long version:
I ordered a kindle paperwhite 16 gig on Jan 3rd. It was promised to be delivered Jan 5. It went from continuous “your order has been delayed” and “we need you to confirm you still want this delivery” which then moved to “your order has been received” and “we’ll email you when we have a delivery date.”
The amazon listing has said “in stock” the entire time, which is incredibly frustrating. I keep one in my “saved for later” and move it to the cart and see when it would be delivered, and it’s bounced from date window to a single date and back to a window so many times. Right now, it says it would be delivered Feb 5. I find it hard to take that info seriously at this point.
Contact with customer service has repeatedly told me they would “contact the warehouse” and expedite my order, and I’d “have it with 48 hours, would that be acceptable?” several times now, and I’m still without this kindle (which was supposed to be a slightly late Xmas present, but that season has passed entirely now!).
So, have people been ordering and receiving their kindles within this time frame? I’m in Denver, if that makes a difference. What would you recommend that I do at this point? Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions or relevant info.
Hey guys I wanted to know if there was a way I can make books I’ve read stop showing up on my actual kindle but stay in my kindle library in case I want to read them again.
How did y'all do in January? What are your plans for February?
My goal in Jan was to read a diverse range of genres, and I did just that! Fiction, nonfiction, memoirs, sci fi, political, historical fiction, etc! I read twelve books, which shocked me! I set my yearly reading goal to fifteen, not realizing I'd be eating books non stop.
In Feb, my goal will be five books. School is starting to pick up, the month is shorter, and I'm starting with a long book compared to what I've been reading! My first read of the month is The Lonely City.
Essentially I’m looking for a read out app that can listen to books in my Kindle library that aren’t on Audible while not looking at my device and “turning pages” or keeping my device locked while I’m listening, as you would with an audio book app.
So I’ve decided to purchase my first ever kindle. (Yay!) But I was going to wait until a potential Valentine’s Day sale to save a little bit. But with these new tariffs, I’m not sure if I should wait for a sale or risk the price going up.
Honestly I’m not entirely sure how the tariffs will affect Amazon flagship products. I was hoping someone on this community who understands the situation better than I do could give some insight for me.
I’ll kick myself if I wait and the price has gone up.
Thanks!
Before the PW 12th gen I had a 2022 basic, and I swear the battery of that one lasted sooo much. I could literally read 2-3 hours a day and the battery would last, like, 3 weeks.
Now I’ve been using the new PW (12th gen, Signature edition) for close to a month, and have been noticing that the battery drains really quickly when compared to the basic. I charged it last week to 100% and today it was at 10% after reading, like, 4 hours since I had charged it (and yes, I always have airplane mode on)
Does anyone else notice this with their 12th gen? :(
