I was a slice nervous about it—not because I saw complaints, but because I worried that those same complaints would be something I couldn’t tolerate in my own device. Luckily I love it so much. Granted, I haven’t read on it. Knock on wood, the yellow line doesn’t bother me. It is very faintly at the bottom (pictured in the comments) but I almost felt like I was gaslighting myself to make myself see it LOL. It’s very, very snappy, and I didn’t think the fonts looked blurry at all—I cycled through several. The screen is noticeably darker than my 11th gen PW SE but it’s similar to my 3rd gen Oasis, so it doesn’t bother me much. I also keep my devices (including my phone) quite lower than most due to preference, for full transparency! The screen is also appears more textured than the PW SE—not sure if this is what folks meant by “grainy,” but I like it! It reminds me of the texture of a trade paperback, whereas I think the PW SE reminds me of the pure white paper that often comes in C format paperbacks (the taller books that tend to have white, thicker paper) from Europe or indie published books in America.

I got the Colorsoft for work—I do a lot of highlighting for reports I make on books, and color-coding will help GREATLY. I’m very excited to use it for that!

I have a Mission PW SE case that fits the Colorsoft as well as a flimsy $8 clear case for the PW SE that fits. When I say “fit,” I mean that it snaps into place and has the correct cutouts, but the rubber bezel around the Colorsoft is pretty much neck and neck with the edge of the case, which isn’t ideal for protection. However, it’ll let me make do until my matte screen protector and Colorsoft Mission case arrive! Yes, I use screen protectors because these screens do indeed scratch and scuff and it’s never degraded the quality of the text enough for me to not to want one on there. I am also disabled and accident prone so I need all the protections I can get 😂

I’m currently charging it so that it can do all its indexing and battery draining on its own time. I can follow up in a week or so with my thoughts if folks are interested.

I love reading while on the recumbent bike. Time just flies by and it's so easy to multitask.

I was about to buy the 11 generation but they sold everything and now it's really expensive. I don't care about image quality that much or anything secondary like that, I just want to be able to read my books.

I don't want to buy it first and then find out that I can't read because my version is too old.

With all these posts about the colorsoft having a yellow hue at the bottom of the screen, I saw a few comments about the PW having the issue also, so I checked mine and asked my partner about it and they also confirmed it looked yellow at the bottom, especially in the bottom left corner.

Is this a consistent widespread issue that is likely to be present on any device I change the kindle for?

hi, i’m really stuck between asking for a basic kindle or a paperwhite (xmas present) given the option id probably be choosing the paperwhite but they don’t seem to have many pros compared to the basic considering the £50 price increase which i don’t feel i could reason out. i just need someone to give me a straight answer. a slightly bigger (too big in some accounts) screen doesn’t particularly sway me favourably though the warm lighting option is a pro imo as i read primarily at night due to school and other commitments colour is not a consideration either way

I have the feeling the update is what caused the “yellow line” problem. After researching, the yellow line is not there before the update, but it is there afterwards….

Will a factory reset remove updates once installed?

Can I skip the update?

I'm sure y'all get these questions all the time, but how would y'all describe the PW's screen/text quality?

I'm legally blind, so need a decent sized screen, and nice big text, does the PW have that?

And if it has any other good qualities like that, would be good to know!

This is a very niche complaint. Those of you who use NetGalley to get advance reader copies of books from publishers and send them to your kindle - you can’t use dark mode on them.

The yellow band wasn’t acceptable but I could have looked past it, but you can’t use dark mode all over and now this? THIS was my breaking point.

Also, you get books from publishers by having a book blog/being a book “influencer” on Instagram/tiktok/youtube and/or by being a librarian or book seller. You can use NetGalley as just a regular reader but you won’t get approvals for the big titles. There are, however, books you can download without approval in the read now section. Those change all the time so if you’re curious about another way to get free books, you can peruse their read now and see if anything captures your eye. All you’ll owe is a review in return. Sometimes there’s big titles that’ll be temporarily available for immediate download without approval from publishers so it’s worth checking out!

does it do the thing where you buy the ebook and the audio book it will do both at the same time. so like it reads it out loud while following along on the text?

I have the black Kindle Paperwhite 12th Generation and I wanted to know if anyone has had any problems with the back scratching very easy. The back material seems to pick up finger prints and mess very easy, I am awaiting my case to be delivered tomorrow.

I only purchased the device today and I am very disappointed 😞

Guys, can Kindle ColorSoft only display color images? I haven't seen Kindle ColorSoft displaying colored text yet. Or are the words in Amazon’s e-books all black?

So I have read that the kindles don’t have the specs to allow for the immersion reading feature. What I don’t understand is why you can’t play the audiobook and follow along on your own. I don’t need highlights to show me where I am all the time. Personally I just like to have the audiobook playing at the same time as I read to allow me to read at a faster rate and help me not get distracted as easily.

Has this ever been addressed by Amazon? I feel like a lot of people would utilize this feature if it was available but I could be wrong

I want to create my own wallpaper for my Kindle. Do you have any tried-and-true methods, tips, or thoughts?

I saw a few tutorials on TikTok, but none of them fully suit my needs. Either the recommended websites are paid, the dimensions don’t fit my model (Kindle Paperwhite 11th Gen), or the video is outdated with instructions that no longer work.

If anyone knows how to do this, I’d appreciate an explanation.

One problem I encountered is that I managed to download an ePub file to the device, and when I open it, the wallpaper appears—although it’s in the wrong dimensions. But when I turn off the Kindle, all that shows is the document’s title instead of the cover I created.

I know how to create a wallpaper in Canva—I just don’t know the dimensions for the Paperwhite. I know that the document can be converted to ePub on the site convertio.co. I also know how to send the file to the device.

However, I don’t know what dimensions to use for my model, and I don’t know how to make the cover appear on the screen instead of the document’s title. I’m not sure what I’m missing in this process.

I have been side loading all my books using Calibre and this is the first time I have seen that the book cover is different with what I want.

But when side loading on my PW 11th gen the cover I had it set up as shows up. Not on my PW 12th Gen

Is anyone else having that issue as well?

I was adding books to my new Kindle and was hitting the download limit on some titles. Cue me going through and renaming devices to see if I had an old device stuck on there. Turns out my tablet was listed twice with 2 different emails. So I de-registered one of the entries. It affected the other entry and deleted it. When I logged back in on the tablet, it created 2 entries again. This time the second entry is without an email. Has anyone encountered this? Is there a need to tinker with it and try to get it down to one entry? I don't remember my tablet having multiple entries when I had this problem loading stuff onto my Scribe.

So I got my colorsoft yesterday (My first Kundle, yay!), & I’m reading an EPUB I got thru Sent to Kindle. Issue I’m having is that if I stop reading, when I come back, it’s jumped ahead a chapter or two.

Has anybody seen a similar issue, or have an idea how to fix this?
