So I gotta know from others on kauai, do you guys get ticketed for speeding? Now speeding im talking like “”‘normal’””speeding- going 50-55 along the stretch from lihue to wailua (40mph limit). Pushing 60 from Tunnel or trees to Omao (50mph limit). Ive seen that Undercover Grey 4Runner Cop pulling over people multiple times along the wailua stretch, but Im wondering if those people were really going over the limit hard, or if they were ‘normally’ speeding and was just unlucky. I wonder if Kauai cops normally have a “yea thats too fast” limit, or are butt-clenched-strict on following the speed limit- or if certain areas are worse than others.
I know the stretch down by the base is where races happen and there arent to many cops there. Allegedly*
Which restaurants offer the best breakfast menu on island, and what should I buy? Mahalo in advance.
On the Canyon Trail to Waipo'o Falls today there were two stray dogs. A male and a female, the male would not leave the female's side, who was somewhat emaciated.
They were very sweet and were past the little dirt road parking lot. They walked to the falls and back. I'm attaching a photo. If anyone is hiking to Waipo'o Falls, please look out for them- I think the female will die soon if not taken to the humane society.
Please at least bring food if you'll be on the trail.
EDIT: The amazing folks at the Humane Society are aware of the dogs being up there for weeks, and have made efforts to get them with no success yet. I think they may be spooked of these particular people now, because the dogs ate out of my hands and followed me for a while. I'm certain if I had more food they would have followed me all the way to my truck. The humane society said they would be able to help the dogs if anyone is able to bring the dogs to them.
Mahalo!
Anyone know what started the fire on Anini Beach today? Many choppers dumping water down there rn.
Does anyone know any establishments giving out meals or place to eat for today?
Trying to get some kind of thanksgiving meal due to me being alone for the holiday.
There is a lot of UAP activity, what Pentagon and UK MOD are referring as ‘drones’- that they are not attempting to take down or engage-in multiple air bases in the UK, US, and other places around the world. Has anyone seen any interesting activity lately? The island is often a hotspot for activity so keep an eye out.
Howzit Kauai? I'm building out a website to provide an easy way to access local information and resources here on Kauai. I would like to get feedback on what would be helpful to include in this website. Let me know and I'll look at getting features added.
Does anybody know what they're going to build next to the airport in Lihue? Just off the highway they are putting up a dust fence. Usually that is an indication of new construction to come. Just wondering if anybody knew what was going on there?
Hey there, Kauai! It's the time for holiday giving, and I want to scratch that shopping itch. Does anyone have a favorite local charity that has a wishlist we can add to our lists? Feel free to comment your favorites that just need cash, as long as they do good stuff in our local community. 🤙
I thought the cold front was hitting closer to Sunday but last night was one of those ones where ya need an extra blanket but really don't want to get out of bed to grab one. Got up and grabbed one but ended up needing to double it up. I need to get my hands on one more hopefully inexpensive, warm, and comfy blanket if anyone knows somewhere that has.
Hi Kauai community - a friend of a friend was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is no longer able to work.
Does anyone know of local non-profits which might provide financial assistance to cancer patients in need?
Did they close? I’ve been on the west side a few different times, but the door is closed.
Does anyone have a recommendation for an Estate/ Will planning lawyer on Island, or even in Oahu?
Just back from there, I was hiking in the area and the crews must have taken the trail to the west, towards Kaluakai, because I didn't see them in the other direction. No one in the two vehicles at the trailhead when I arrived. Hope everyone is ok.
Just happened to drive by HPM on Kawaihau Rd, and they are closed? When did that happen? Is Lawai their only location on Kaua‘i now?
Today, I was out running a version of this loop (https://www.trailrunproject.com/trail/7013276) in Waimea canyon. Passed a friendly hunter with 4-5 hunting dogs near mile ~5.3. One of the dogs ditched the group and started jogging with me until about mile 1.5.
The dog had a hefty collar on that I assume provides GPS, but got separated quite a bit from the group. Putting this out there in case it helps the hunter find his dog.
Fwiw, I passed what I believe was the hunter’s Tacoma w/ dog trailer and jotted down the license plate
I moved into a nice house and have made it work for 3 months. I want to keep going. I have income from making websites but it is inconsistent. Some months are fat, others are lean.
I am open to work in a restaurant, a resort, a shop, clean houses, wash cars. Anything really. I have been looking and applying on CraigsList, Indeed. Need to try LinkedIn next. The thought of Reddit popped in my head. “You never know until you try.”
I’ve had to navigate a lot of obstacles since the Maui fires but I’m not giving up now, I feel at home out here.
Please and thank you.
edit - applied to a lot of jobs of all kinds and will continue to apply. This is my dream and I will fight until the end for it. Made a Telegram post in the Kauai Kin group chat listing my Design, Marketing, Technology services on my website as well www.goodvibes.me
Edit2 - started at a nice restaurant. Another interview in the morning at a boutique hotel. A friend got me a surefire gig driving cars through the wash. So now I’m solid again. Websites are a bonus but not my primary income. A mountain off my shoulders. Thanks everyone! This sub has done so much for me, I want to give you all a hug.
Edit3 - got the front desk job, it’s right next to the restaurant job. Got enough website projects to be busy for rest of year. It all worked out. THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT. I was feeling pretty defeated when I posted this. Now I feel confident that I can make this equation work.
So the other day I went down Pila'a to the right to cruise and fish etc and Zuckerberg has a new guard tower by the Marvins old house and is paying some young boy to harass anyone down there.
Guy comes over and starts asking me what I'm doing down there, do I live here etc.
Told him mind his own business and go tell his boss to f**k off. Figured the dogs and the fishing gear might be a giveaway about what I was doing at the beach?
Talked to a friend who had the same thing happen to her, aggro vibes and kinda creepy for a girl on her own who's trying to get some exercise on a public beach.
Anyone like go party down there and camp for a few days? Maybe burn some old tires when it's blowing north wind?
Mahalo nui loa | Faʻafetai tele lava to the Princeville Community Center for including my ʻUlu #2 oil painting in the Princeville Fine Art show with other Kauaʻi artists this weekend.
If you are on the north shore of Kauaʻi, come view our artwork.

Last few times I drove by it seemed like it was all boarded up. Did it close? Whats the story there.
You ever feel like larger news corporations only cover Oahu based news? Like we're all left out?
Or even, there are so many different accounts to follow it can be impossible to keep track of all of the events?
Watch our show that we produce! Available at the links below :)
E Aloha neighbors! I live O’ahu and was planning to hop over to Kauai this weekend to do some hikes but I am kinda second guessing bc of the rain we’ve been getting here on O’ahu. How’s it over on Kauai right now? Is it flooding at all? Would hiking still be do-able this weekend?
We specifically wanted to do some waterfalls and some of the Kalalau trail (not camping) just to get an idea of the terrain before eventually planning a camping trip. However, if it’s been getting drenched I might have to pass for now. I just have ants in my pants bc it’s been 6 years since I’ve been to the beautiful garden isle 😅
Edit 1: also, if anyone can has good recc’s for longboard surf spots it’d be much appreciated
Edit 2: We decided not to go! Thanks for the info everyone (:
