Hello.
I've only lived on this island for about 4-ish months. I have a co-worker...really she's a volunteer... who does ALOT of awesome stuff for the people in my workplace. She's soon to be in her 70's, does a lot of outdoor type stuff and has basically lived here all her life. I think she was born here?
Anyway, I think she's an awesome person and I want to get her something with all this holiday shit coming up. I'm trying to figure out a cool gift to get her, so I'm reaching out to see if anybody is kind enough to shoot me some ideas.
I'm thinking of two scenarios; something reasonably priced (within $50?) I could get myself -or-
Something within -say- $100 that I could get other people to pitch in for?
You ever feel like larger news corporations only cover Oahu based news? Like we're all left out?
Or even, there are so many different accounts to follow it can be impossible to keep track of all of the events?
Watch our show that we produce! Available at the links below :)
E Aloha neighbors! I live O’ahu and was planning to hop over to Kauai this weekend to do some hikes but I am kinda second guessing bc of the rain we’ve been getting here on O’ahu. How’s it over on Kauai right now? Is it flooding at all? Would hiking still be do-able this weekend?
We specifically wanted to do some waterfalls and some of the Kalalau trail (not camping) just to get an idea of the terrain before eventually planning a camping trip. However, if it’s been getting drenched I might have to pass for now. I just have ants in my pants bc it’s been 6 years since I’ve been to the beautiful garden isle 😅
Edit 1: also, if anyone can has good recc’s for longboard surf spots it’d be much appreciated
Edit 2: We decided not to go! Thanks for the info everyone (:

Anyone know where in Kauai I can buy hens for hatch eggs?
Upcoming Council Oct. 23 meeting agenda item C2024-2019. Violation order in 2016 from EPA National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).
Today in Hā’ena a septic system was attempted to be installed over sacred iwi in the area, A group of Hawaiians tried to stop the construction from being under way but where subsequently told to vacate the area and where even arrested. Should the culture and a sacred burial ground be disregarded for a vacation rental home, most definitely not, HEWA. What should the next step be and should this project move forward even with strong objection from the Hawaiian community. When is enough enough and when will the Hawaiian culture will stop being disrespected, and our ancestors can lay to rest peacefully.
About a year ago I was on the radio and came across this very lively pastor, giving his sermon in full on pidgin. He was speaking so passionately I could not stop listing. Anyways, just thought I could use some of his message right now, and was hoping someone could help me find out where to tune in. Mahalo Much.
Can anyone recommend a spot to find soft serve ice cream (dairy-kine) with sprinkles? I’m jonesing!
Most items I am looking at now are projecting an ETA of November 5.
I know the main Hawaii subreddit has had a number of Amazon complaint posts recently but I am not sure how relevant they are to Kauai, since most people there are in O'ahu/Honolulu.
I live in Kapahi and for about the past month Amazon has become unpalatable with how long the projected delivery times are. I have essentially stopped ordering (going from ordering nearly every day, so I'm saving a lot of money I guess).
Is anyone else experiencing this? It makes me wonder if my account/address has been shadowbanned. I need some validation.
For those who do search, what is the most Kahelelani shells you have found in what day?
what beaches did you go to (if you would like to tell others)
and how long did it take to collect the amount you did?
Has anyone else noticed the wage theft in Kauai is absolutely off the chart and Employers bold face steal from employees with a sense of entitlement??
Tickets available at the Kokee Lodge website. Last year's Halloween show did sell out.
Hello! I am trying to help my dad move off the island. He has a car with a dead battery that has been sitting for a couple years. We would like to donate the car somewhere or have someone come pick it up and take it. We can't locate the title yet.
Does anyone know someone who would come and take the car? We would love it to be donated if possible but if not any option will work. Thank you so much.
Chinese taro died - looking for a starter, if anyone has. Prefer Waimea or Kalaheo area, but can travel further if need. Mahalo!
My phone has been on “SOS” mode since early this morning because it’s unable to get cellular for some reason. I’ve updated my phone, restarted it, etc.
I saw a facebook post saying the cave reserve needs to rehome its tortoises....does anyone know what's going on? Rumors that Grove Farm did not renew the lease?
Recently saw that in Spain single people are going to grocery stores between in 7-8pm and walking around with a pineapple upside down on their cars to show they are available. If you like another eligible person you bump on their grocery cart.
Shall we start a movement here?!?🤣
Long story short, high tide came, some paper bags ripped and now my wife's iPhone and my go pro are MIA. We think they got buried in the sand or pulled into the ocean.
Would happily pay for someone to come out and run a metal detector over the sand at low tide and see if anything shows up.
Would love to offer a cash reward to anyone that finds one or both.
iPhone is in a salmon color case. Go pro has a helmet attachment on it.
We got some great footage of our 4 year old surfing on the go pro. Sad to see it go, but happy to have been there with him catching waves.
Rough location is on the beach in the sand near the stairs furthest from the Kiahuna surf school shack (by the shower), and maybe 20 feet towards the surf shack. We think they fell out of the bag at high tide (so close to the bushes).
Anyway, thanks for your help!
