Currently using Google Home through ADT but it’s costing us $82/mo. I see that SimpliSafe is $25/mo. Anyone have advice on choosing a system, between these two or others, that offer good protection and coverage at an affordable price?
Basically the headline. I need a modern security system that has wifi capabilities so that the footage can be sent to my home computer. Not the cloud. Not a remote server. Not to my smartphone. No subscription or fees. SD card capacity would be swell too.
So I am adding some cameras to my current setup. Double Checked that they are compatible. I installed it just fine it shows up on my DVR monitor, it shows up in my IOS app. It’s will not show up on my Homesafe View on the PC. It pops up with Permission Declined
Camera is SWPRO-1080SQ
Hello recently bought a house with qolsys iq panel 4 with it and honeywell thermostat. Havent exactly moved in but everytime I come in the hvac is always ON! I tried to turn off schedule mode on the honeywell and remove energy saver setting from qolsys but thermostat is still up and running everytime. Any suggestions on what I can do? How do I connect the qolsys to my iphone without going through alarm.com? -so I can check if my hvac is running. TIA
I read through this sub and came to the conclusion that ADT is the absolute worst so I will not be using their service. Now I’m stuck with all of this stuff and don’t know what to do with it. Im afraid of messing with it or removing anything myself. Would an ADT tech come and uninstall? Can I use it without their service?
I just noticed a 50-second delay in the Instant Alarm on my ADT system. It used to be Instant when armed. How do I change it back?
Looking for a good system, where I can get a door camera, 2 flood lights, window sensors and regular side cameras. Want one thats easy to install and not having to pay for subscriptions to store any recordings or alert police if needed, if they were to look around the place
So I bought a few wireless Battery cameras (FLux). I am using them at my boat. I have wifi at the boat and solar panels on the cameras so the application works great. Whats not so great. No more than 20s clips on the sd card and unless you pay for cloud you can get up to 2min otherwise only 20s. I need a camera that is like a standard IP camera that will record as long as it detects motion and not in broken clips. I also need to be able to download the video to retain as evidence for an incident. I'm not seeing cameras that can do this. Anyone have any battery cameras that can be logged into and not just on an app or have the features as stated above?

I want to install cameras around my house but I don’t want to get into an installment plan with my company nor do I want to be forced to extend my contract with my current security company. I want the freedom to move around with the different companies as I please. I also want my privacy protected. I also want my privacy protected. If I choose to share footage with the police If I choose to share footage with the police Can you think of any reasons why it’s better or worse to go through the security company for camera installation?
Here is the scenario:
My MIL's home flooded and is currently uninhabitable. The main utilities (electricity, water, gas) are on but no wifi.
Rebuilding home is pending a lawsuit settlement. We are currently waiting for an offer but it is likely going to be 6 months - 1 year before we see movement and can rebuild.
It seems like there was a recent break-in and due to the circumstances, we are worried about squatters or more break-ins. There really isn't anything left in the house but its shelter and the area has a high concentration of homeless. So our attorney suggested cameras for now.
The problem is the homeowner is on a tight budget and putting wifi in a home that she does not live in is not a desired suggestion at this time. Should we bite the bullet and have wifi installed again or are there other options here?
We would probably need 3 cameras and again, for a good 6 months - 1+ year at this point. We are hoping for a settlement soon but also realize this may go to trial and could take longer. So we need to keep longevity in mind.
Here's an example. Most of the time you can't see anything on the screen at all though. The yellow alert light is also on for unknown reasons. The alarm can still be armed and turned off regularly though.
I'm on a mission to fortify my castle without breaking the bank. Who's got the inside scoop on the most wallet-friendly security setups? My wishlist:✅ Door and window sensors✅ Glass break detectors✅ CO2 and smoke alarms✅ Cellular backup (because burglars love to cut wires, right?)✅ Power backup (in case the neighbourhood goes dark)✅ Flexible monitoring options (DIY or pro)What's your go-to system that ticks all these boxes? So I have an 80 acre field down the road from my house, and I have someone dumping trash into it. It's near the road so I don't need to cover the whole 80 acres. I just need to cover where they're dumping trash. I want to put a camera there, but the problem is I have 0 power sources. On the field, what can I do to put a camera out there? I was thinking, possibly using two car batteries and swapping them. What do y'all think
Hello all,
I currently have a ring doorbell and ring outdoor cameras set up, but they do not do 24/7 recording and are not very good at always picking up movement. I’ve messed with the settings and haven’t been satisfied. They do pick up most movement, but I walk by them sometimes and they do not catch me. I want a system that can do 24/7 recording. Whether on an SD card or cloud or whatever. Any good recs?
Looking for recommendations for outdoor security cameras.
I need 4, so hopefully not anything that costs more than $200 per camera.
NEEDS:
30 day saved history (subscription okay)
High quality footage
Plug in for power is preferred
Wifi connection preferred
Thanks!
Hi everyone,
I currently have an Honeywell Lyric panel. It’s powered by two twisted pairs of a cat3 Ethernet cable… I have no way of bringing another cable there.
The IQ4 seems interesting. I hate the fact that it’s a tablet, I want something permanent in my entry hall. Are all iq4 models mountable on walls like regular panels?
Also, could I power the IQ4 with the cat3 twisted pairs (other end is a normal dc adapter plugged in the wall)?
Thank you.
My house is shaped like the 2nd image in the url link below. I'm looking for help on how to get camera coverage on the sides of the house? They sides of the house are relatively low and people could reach the cameras if I added them there. But if I just add them to the front I'll have blind areas.
I have an old lorex system running 8 1080p cameras and it's been rock solid for the last 7-8 years. But lately, I've had a few minor issues, along with the whole software abandoning issue, and I'm considering what to do when it eventually goes out. I've read good things on here about surveillance station.
I currently have a DS220+ that I use as a file server and run a few other small services on but I'm not sure how well that would work. I think I might want to buy a separate used NAS and have it dedicated as an NVR running surveillance station.
Any advice on selecting a NAS for this purpose, and opinions on whether or not I should use my existing 220?
We're in the process of buying a home. It has a Napco 1008blk, unfortunately it being an estate there isn't anyone to really answer questions like a home owner could. The panel looks in very good shape, we are unaware if it's working. I assume it's currently just disabled.
Is it something you would replace? We want general alarms as well as glass break detection. We also plan to have a local camera system that's as offline as possible . If replacing would it be possible to replace the panel and keep the sensors. I've seen the sensors and they appear to be similar to the vector ones we have currently.
Family purchased a home with a key pad that opens a vehicle gate. We have a code to open it, but they want to change the code/codes because landscaping companies, pool companies etc have access to the property with the code provided to them by previous owner.
It says Sentex Systems above the dial pad. #key calls the phone in the house and * hangs up the call.

Just bought a craftsman style house with a beautiful wood and glass door. I'd like to put a wifi open sensor on it but they all look spaceship-modern. Is anyone aware of door open sensors have a classic look?
I just added a zwave door lock to my security system. It paired up just fine, and I can lock/unlock the door from the panel. The issue I'm having is I cannot get it to show in the app. I've logged out and in, reboot the panel, reboot the phone, cleared cache, deleted the lock and added again, etc. Just will not show in the app. Any suggestions?
I installed an old ip camera and after searching I found it only works when I install the reolink app. The problem is I can only access the camera on the same network in the settings it says that there are http port: 80 https port: 443 Server port:9000 When I try to open it trough the browser with its ip I cant access it. Can someone help? How to access it?
Beyond just emergencies, I kindof like spending time out there (it's a safe, clean fire escape, not some rickety old thing). I'm wondering what kindof bars I can install on the inside that are easy enough to open but will dissuade / prevent anyone from smashing the window and getting in.
Hey all,
I'm currently looking to add around five to eight cameras around my property, but I've been having trouble finding a solution that works for my needs, so I thought I'd ask here. I'm not a fan of subscription services, so a NVR POe system would be more ideal. Also, preferably, I'd like to be able to access a live feed and the recorded footage from the NVR on a mobile app, though I know that can become difficult if you're trying to avoid subscriptions. I live in a cold part of Colorado, where tempertures can easily reach -20 degress during winter. Night vision doesn't have to be amazing, just decent enough to be usable. Same with quality, anything at or over 1080p in color works perfect. To clarify, all of these camera will be outdoors.
I also had a thought about wiring a camera that would easily be at least 300-500 feet away from my home, and in turn the NVR. I've seen that being a large limitation with a lot of systems, so if there's a solution for that or to get around that, any ideas thrown out would be much obliged.
All recomendations are appreciated, thank you guys for your time.
With the burglaries increasing in the region, I plan to purchase a video doorbell and later a few security cameras. I heard that the eufy app sometimes has a delay in detecting movement. I don't know if this is correct. but with the Google Nest you do have a monthly cost that you have to pay. what would be the best route nest or eufy, I have no experience with either
I can now buy the Eufy Video Doorbell E340 + Chime + HomeBase 3 for 250€
or start with just the doorbell E340 for 135€
I can buy the Google Neste doorbell for €129
If you have any other suggestions please let me know.
Are you able to run different items on C4 depending on which user coder disarms Qolsys security panel like you can on Vista for example?
Hello, I was interested in buying a doorbell cam which doesn’t need a monthly subscription. The Tapo D130 Doorbell Cam caught my eye. It seems to have a lot of features (including AI detection and local storage) and good image quality for the price. It’s currently priced at $50 on Amazon in the US. It doesn’t seem to have many reviews online or considered in any of the multiple YouTube Doorbell videos (Wonder why!) I would like to know if anyone here has used it or researched about it. Thanks!
