(Visiting HK for short while...) I remember watching this film about 15 years ago and I really liked it. I always knew it was a great vibe but forgot most of it. I was walking by some theaters and saw it was playing, instantly got a ticket for 1 to see it that night.
Man this film is truly a vibe. It's not for everyone...its Arthouse, melancholy and tells love stories though many mediums. If any of that sounds remotely appealing to you I encourage you to watch!
As I'm now 15 years older the emotions felt this in movie definitely hits harder. It's a timeless classic for me.
A little background - I'm a Canadian (Ontario) citizen, with Canadian passport, but have Right to Land in Hong Kong meaning I have HKID, can stay, live, work, etc. here.
I'm planning on starting a biz and living here for next 2-3 years at minimum. The biz will be fully online, serving to create ads for social media. I have enough savings and the skillset to ensure the business will succeed. The client base I'd likely serve would be located in Singapore and Australia, sometimes London, USA and Canada.
I'm not 100% sure when I'd be moving back to Canada (Ontario) and IF I'd even care to move back to Canada at any point. So the question is if I should register the business in Canada or HK. And if I do register in HK and eventually move it back to Canada, what the consequences would look like.
I understand if I stay here for x number of months I'd likely be forced to declare taxes but could potentially do border runs... etc. if it's advantageous.
Can anyone here well-versed with business law advise what the best move would be?
Thanks in advance!
Can I take photos of a private property from a public road? For example, the MTR is a private property, you cannot take a photo if the staffs say no photos allowed. But what if I take a photo of a private property (eg. people in the shop or other stuff) from a public road? As the public road is public, it is completely legal to take photos, but is it legal to take photos of properties or stuff inside as well?
Currently HKG’s GDP per capita is above $40K nominal, with one of the highest HDIs in the world. Even though some China/CCP influence is becoming ever more prevalent, will HKG fully lose its developed status and revert to developing once the 2047 transition happens, as China 🇨🇳 currently is developing and not developed yet? Or, by 2047 China will be developed enough, particularly urban China that HKG won’t see that stark a contrast to how it is now? I mean, Shenzhen is HKG’s neighbor and it looks fairly developed, so what do you think will happen?
Im on a 1000m plan with china mobile atm, contract is about to end. I haven't been happy with the reliability these days (slowdowns/cut offs).
I havent been able to find anything fiber optic related at least for my area so ive been eyeing the 2500m plan with hkbn.
Wondering if there are better alternatives, otherwise ill be giving them a go.
I'm talking about 30 days (or more) regular tourist visa (L visa).
I read that they got rid of proof of hotel reservations, invitation, letter, itinerary, round trip booking record etc.
What does the process look like now?
(One of the most annoying things stopping me from being interested in touring China was the stupid proof of hotel reservations when I wasn't even sure where I wanted to go.)
I got EU passport.
Hello.
I plan to visit the Big Buddha (Tian Tan) on Wednesday for the birthday event, however I am unable to find much information about it online.
Will there be events/celebrations held at the attraction itself and if so, what time is best to go and visit?
Thank you!
Been away for few years and recently moved back, I heard they suspended their service during the pandemic. Did they reopen? Any recommendation for a place that’s similar to the sense 99 vibe where people just go jam and sing?
Planning a trip to Hong Kong in September 2025 and to take my wife for the first time to see where my parents are originally from. I'm BBC.
I remember back in 2019 I booked a 4 star best western hotel Hong Kong island for a 14 day trip with a friend for £700.
In addition the flight from the UK, I chose Emirates and that cost about £550.
Now after some checking, it's like nearly £2000 for the same hotel for 14 nights and £800 for the flight!
What's happened? Did inflation go that crazy in the space of 5 years or is this still the aftermath of COVID?
Has eating out gone more expensive also and other tourist attractions?
I just got accepted for Public housing in HK, this particular flat doesn't have any AC in them but there are windows (closed off) for ac placement.
I have looked at places like Fortress mostly but it doesn't seem very clear to me, does anyone know how much estimated would it cost to install an ac in public housing?
There are sockets near the ac placement windows, but the windows are close, sorry if I don't know much about these things, it's my first time living alone.
I’m moving to Hong Kong in September for my bachelor degree. I don’t need Chinese language for uni but I enjoy learning languages anyways so I was wondering which one would be more useful for living there and possibly working in the future - Mandarin or Cantonese.
Was just wondering if things have gotten worse since before the transfer of power.
I’m a gym rat who’s tried many gyms in the past. Now I go to a gym in Central that specializes in circuit training. Gyms on the island side cater to expats and westernized locals more. In my experience, the workouts and training programs from those gyms were much more intensive. Also the vibes were much better as the members were much more dedicated and open. Gyms that cater to locals, especially those in Kowloon have much easier programs and less professional and dedicated trainers. Also the members wouldn’t talk to each other, and some are even shy. Even though I live in Kowloon, I commute to my gym in Central every day for gym.
I need to buy a carry-on durong my 6 hour layover in HK, where should I go?
Just arrived in HK and took a taxi from the airport to my hotel in Kowloon. I sat in the front and holy shit it was scariest ride I ever had. He was wreaving in and out going over 100. Dude also was tailgating so close to the car in front going that speed that I can see my reflection in the back window of the minivan. I had to look out of the side window to avoid triggering my own driving skill reaction. Dude also was halfway in the intersection at a yellow light before turning green. At least the price was reasonable.
I used to buy these in 7-elevens whenever I ran out but now I cant find them anymore. They have other flavors from the same company for sale, but just not this one. I tried looking online as well but its not available or 'out of stock'. (it has been saying that for months now)
Did they stop their production due to maybe health reasons? Or just stop their production for whatever reasons?
Looking for Thai massage recommendations in and around central.
Specifically, I am looking for the type where they stretch you on the ground/floor mat.
I do not want the acupressure type of massage done on a bed.
Appreciate any recommendations
Hello everyone, I have been trying to book a GP appointment for nearly a week now. I just wanted to ask if there is a procedure. At what time does the booking thing start over? I couldn't find it on the net; some said 8AM/9AM but have no luck.
Taken by me at 9:15PM Saturday. Imo it was mostly tourist (not just from the Mainland but from other SEA countries as well.)
Yo, as the title states, im trying to find the multiplication song that I was taught in a local primary school. I was hoping if you guys had a youtube link and shit like that to it (i know the odd chance of it being the right one is low, but i gotta try)
TIA!
