Hi everyone! To those who have been to any vernissage event of Art Basel HK, is it worth paying the extra price for vernissage tickets? Is the amount of people significantly less than on public days? Would appreciate any tips. Thank you!
I've only really used taobao so far I've been here and have found pick up points for them pretty convient but how does it work shopping on other sites? I assume I can't use other websites to send to taobao pickup points? I'm not quite sure, hope someone can explain? Is there any other companies I can use for universal pickup points? I would like to order stuff from websites like Amazon, online clothing stores. I can't really send it to my address, and probably would be at work when they do delivery. Thanks
My parents being born and bred in HK left when they were 25-26. So I grew up in another country in Asia. I’m guessing alot of HKERS are like this as well.
Periodically every 5 years, we would go back to visit relatives in HK. My cousins (mostly younger) would join the gatherings happy and all.
We just went back last week for CNY - and almost all the cousins did not join the gathering. They either migrated or are just estranged with my uncles and aunties. Noting that my cousins are below to average in terms of studies/jobs. My aunties/uncles lamented they seldom gather or lack in terms of contacting one another - their children (my cousins) also do not share much with them. I tried reaching out to the cousins but I would mostly get lacking replies or generic ones that makes it hard for me to ask further without sounding like i’m prying too much.
Can anyone let me know what might be happening to my cousins / younger crowd (20s to 30s) in Hk? or is this just unique to my extended family
Hi, I’ll be travelling to Hong Kong in April this year. I am looking for food recommendation from locals and HK travelers. Me and my partner eat just eggs and chicken in non-vegetarian, can you please help to recommend the best places out here and the dishes to try to?
Hey everyone, I just started organizing some tennis events on the Meetup app this week and noticed that HKD isn't available as a currency, so my prices are showing in USD, which is quite frustrating. I couldn't find an option to change this in the settings. Any tips to help?
Landed yesterday, sitting in a tram. A lot of people, mostly women on the street around central station. What is happening?
Why are there so many jackpots this year?
There weren't that many the years before. Now, every week there is one.
If I was a gov desperate for cash, it's something I would do, trick the public to invest more with marketing and steal. It's not like they are angels.
I checked on google maps and it's a 13 min taxi ride vs a 1 hr bus ride. Is that correct? Where else can I go for seafood other than Lei Yue Mun or Sai Kung.
I walked by this today and was severely creeped out by it. Decided to check it out on Google maps and these postings date back to 2011. Does anyone know what happened or what this means?
Hello!
This is going to come out as desperate, but it’s gotten to that point.
My partner is Australian, living in HK but trying to find a job in HK and Australia, it’s been months and he’s done everything he can, applying jobs every single day, to the point that there would be no jobs to apply for at some stage! He’s done all of the tailoring CV, getting it reviewed by a professional.
I on the other hand am a junior doctor and we’re doing long distance for 9 months. I can see the agony in him, he’s barely secured 2 interviews through LinkedIn, one which progressed till stage 4 and then rejected, which has taken a huge toll on his mental health.
Now it feels like he’s given up, it’s been 7 months he’s been applying. I know this sounds so stupid, but if anybody has any kind of connection, or know someone who’s looking into hiring, or just have any advice, would you please get in touch, I’d be forever grateful.
He’s literally up for anything, hadn’t been nitpicking when applying. He’s worked as a project manager for several companies and market research analyst, client programme specialist, client satisfaction
I think he is so smart, and he would be a GREAT asset to a company, he’s the hardest working man I know and I have admired how he has been getting through this for the past 7 months.
I’ve totally asked him to just come live with me but he feels he’ll be a leech and won’t agree to it.
I can’t believe I am making a post like this but that’s how desperate this whole thing feels like. I’m ready for all the hate comments this is going to get but also hopeful there will be a kind soul who has probably at some point been through this.
I appreciate you reading this!
Photo source: me, taken last night after failing to check-in online.
Is it just me or is anyone else also getting this error when checking in online since last night?
Normally if there are addtl passport / visa checks online check-in still goes thru, but just no boarding pass. Just worried i might get offloaded knowing airlines, esp LCCs, overbook all the damn time.
I was trying to get to USA Today from my hotel and it was blocked with a 403 error. It was also blocked with a HK VPN on. I was able to get through with a VPN from another location. Is it blocked for everyone else?
I read online that the On Loan Octopus Card used by residents can go up to -35HKD in debt. Is this also true for the Sold/Tourist Octopus?
the source i found this from says the picture was from circa 1971
i would like the position of the cameraman
Hi,
Has anyone seen this jacket around at the Adidas stores? I am having my family buy one for me, but one store said it's in China only, and the other just said they dont have it.
Any info is appreciated.
Thanks!
Let me explain it. The whole concept of Poon Choi is basically putting tons of difference foods inside of the dish, from expensive prawns, to the local fishballs. When I had it first time in today, it tasted like nothing else but oily that I have to cover the taste of oil with a bottle of coke. Before eating it, I thought it should've been somewhat delicious, now I know how awful does it.
where to buy cheap price of lucas papaw? below 30 hkd
Thirsty Q/discussion. Where do you think has the best draught Guinness in Hong Kong? To be clear not the can draught. I’ve had decent pints in the Mandarin captains bar (pricey), Delaney’s, white stag (Wan Chai), and more average ones in Assembly (TST), Trafalgar, pier 3 and RHKYC. Huge range in quality and price. I’d say Banyan Tree on Lamma so far for quality, price and view. Lamma actually has quite a few decent spots to split the G. But wonder am I missing an easy 5* pint somewhere. Extra Points if it’s showing the six nations.
Hi all, looking for a place to score cheap cigarettes. Imports or counterfeits are fine too. The cheapest I can seem to find is $35 a pack.
