I’d like to go to places where the locals would choose to go. I can only find few places based on Google which are almost always tourist spots. I don’t have any clue of hk artists so I don’t know where to search for. Thanks a mil!
Hi there!
I was just wondering if anyone can recommend any place in HK where I could install a chip on my switch. I read an old reddit post that stated that there are places in Sham Shui Po, but today I walked around the area and didn't find anywhere where they offer this service. Any ideas?
Thanks!
I am a recent graduate from Belgium, who has gained a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, specialising in Environmental Management. At the beginning of this year, I decided to make an attempt to start a career in Hong Kong. I was quite happy to receive a temporary working visa (valid for 2 years) through the Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS) by the Hong Kong government. I immediately attempted to look and apply for jobs in fields such as ESG, conservation, research assistance, biotechnology, microbiology, etc. I quickly noticed that two big aspects were holding me back: my lack of language proficiency in Cantonese and Mandarin and my lack of job experience since I am a fresh graduate. I also noticed that many of the job articles available have a lot of competition, with nearly all of them having 100+ applicants each! I always believed that HK was a multicultural community with English as its second language and that a recent graduate in my field would have a lot of job opportunities in an environment such as this.
Now I have been in HK for some months already, working in a field completely unrelated to my own. Still trying to apply and find something in my field or at least something equivalent (especially since this is a requirement if I want to prolong my TTPS temporary visa). I have been using tools such as Indeed, Glassdoor, HKPC, JobsDB, and CT goodjobs for job applications. My mailbox remains empty despite the countless applications I have sent. I am attempting to broaden my choices, applying for articles in a more broad spectrum outside of my field of expertise, just to find jobs where I fulfil all of the requirements. I am also looking into volunteering to get some more experience in my field in HK. But I am starting to lose hope. I already fear that I won't be able to find something before my temporary visa expires and I fear that I will lose the legitimacy of my educational background since I can't seem to gain any professional work experience in my field months after my graduation.
Could someone give me some advice on how to start my career successfully, maybe there are things that I have overlooked during my search or maybe I should change my strategy completely. Are there any professionals who can give me advice on finding a job in Hong Kong as a foreign fresh graduate?

Hi friends!
My wife is born in Hong Kong but moved to Australia when she was young, and I'm Australian! (We are a same sex couple.) In about 2 weeks we will be visiting Hong Kong for her cousin's wedding, and will be staying for about a month. It will be my first time overseas! :)
I am struggling to find information about facial piercings and if they're socially acceptable. I have a nose piercing and a lip piercing (and quite a few ear piercings.) My wife says they aren't, but some of her relatives who have been there more recently say I shouldn't worry about it. I also have quite a lot of tattoos, but since it will be Winter I'm not too worried since they will be covered with clothing.
I will obviously remove them for the wedding, but how concerned should I be about removing them for the rest of our trip? Should I take them out when I'm outside or wear a mask? Or will people generally pay no attention to them? I don't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable, or think I'm in a gang haha. I am white, but I speak some Cantonese.
Thank you so much!
The service is held annually on the Sunday immediately preceding 11 November, since 1923 (barring a few interruptions such as Japanese invasion).
I’m a HK permanent resident. I’m looking to make a will in HK in the event anything were to happen.
Any recommendations on who to approach on this (specific companies, legal experts), and roughly how much it could cost?
Any important considerations that I should keep in mind when doing this / that first-timers like myself may overlook?
hello, i’m going to Hong Kong next month, does anybody know or recommend any alt/visual kei/gothic/lolita fashion stores to buy clothes?

Hi there!
I'm looking for a camera. I've checked a couple stores in HKprice and went to Sim City but the thing is I have doubts between a6700 and X-S20. I feel that in order to make a decision I need to feel the different models in my hands.
So , does it exist something like a BicCamera or a Yodobashi in HK? I mean a big place with lots of cameras where I could try them as much as I want? Thanks!
Sorry if it makes me look like an absolute idiot for asking. I couldn’t find any information online so decided to ask here
Also if i used the wrong flair please do correct me I don’t really know what flair to use

Hello, visiting from Chicago and LOVE Star Wars!!! I have a free day tomorrow and was wondering if the Star Wars part of Disney was worth it? I hear it's fairly small, but that's fine bc I don't have a long time.
Thanks in advance for advice and recommendations

It fell off... A decade ago or so, it had ao many good products at a lower cost than online stores. Nowadays, it's pretty much USB cable galore, laptop cases, and the prices are on par with HKTVmall and online generally.
It's a bit sad as I used to truly love this place.
Any place similar to what it used to be? Mostly interested in laptop and computer gear, SSD drives, mics, monitors, etc.
Hi
I’ll be in HK in 3 weeks, I only have two full days to sightsee. 1 day is designated for HK Disneyland. I have a full Saturday to sightsee. I am Staying on Lantau island, my question is. Is it possible to do Ngong Cable car, Tian Tan Buddha and go to Mong kok and see the symphony of lights all in one day? Also what to wear in HK last week of November. Any must try foods in Mong Kok?
Thanks in advance
This is for the old HKers grew up in HK during 60s n 70s. Before Lndmarks in central was built it was the Gloucester House告羅士打行。 There was a Chinese restaurant named 告羅士打, my family went there almost every Sunday for dim sum. There was a dish that’s our favourite 局火腿意粉, it’s really a HK version of Alfredo sauce but much much better. Here is the help I need, I like to have the recipe so I can make it for my parents. I tried different kind of Alfredo n nothing comes close.
Im flying to Hongkong in December (for the first time flying in winter) and I wanted to know how cold it usually gets there
I will be heading to Hong Kong soon and I plan to get a physical octopus card.
When I leave Hong Kong, it seems I can get a refund at a MTR Customer Service Centre. However, my flight leaves early in the morning. Will there be people at the customer service centre at 6 AM to give me a refund?
I’m a student at HKMU currently in year 2 studying electronics and computer engineering. I wanted to ask how will it be like getting internships. I’m not sure but I think people studying at big 3 or polyu/cityu get priority over others like hkmu.
My second concern is how will it be like finding a job right after graduation. Again, I think Hkmu’s reputation is no where near big 3 or even polyu/cityu. Also, how is the tech scene in hk? From what I’ve heard hk is a place mainly for finance but I could be wrong.
