Type 1 Diabetes Ideentification

So idk how many other places do this but my doctor has been pushing me to get a bracelet or necklace that says that I'm a diabetic. And everytime she does, I look down at the thousand dollar, heavy, awkward, loud af, and easily visible piece of machinery keeping me alive and I question why that isn't enough to scream "I have diabetes! If I fall down, call 911! I'm probably dying!"😂

Come at me grandma!!

Sooooo this is my mom and siblings favorite story to tell about me to about anyone they meet nowadays, especially when I bring a girl to meet them. During spring break junior year of high school my mom brought my girlfriend at the time down to my grandmas house in Florida, 2 blocks away from the beach. After a long day in the sun at the beach, we go back to my grandmas house. My girlfriend and I go to a bedroom to take a nap (separate beds w the door open, it's my grandmas house (shes very strict)). We're goofing off and the girl notices I'm starting to act funny so she grabs some sugar tabs and I eat 2. This is where my memory goes blurry. The next thing I know, I'm shirtless running around the streets w my mom chasing me while pricking my finger again and again. I'm not sure what I was trying to do but I knew something was wrong and knew I needed to check my blood sugar. She finally gets me back to gma's house on the couch and they try to give me more sugar tabs but for some reason I was feeling very stubborn and thought they were trying to poison me or something. They call the emt and while they waited kept on trying to give me sugar which I was refusing. During this time my grandma from across the room (the sweetest most gently and friendly lady I've ever known or heard about) asks me to eat the sugar tabs. I sit up, look at her and spit at her and yelled "COME AT ME GRANDMA!!" I then see my girlfriend sitting across the room also and start winking and giving her the finger guns. Then the emt shows up and seeing how I was so uncooperative, they start holding me down to check my blood and see if I need a glucagon shot. I take a swing at one of them and he catches my fist in his hand. I look him right in the eyes and say "damn, you must lift" or "do you even lift bro" (it's been a while and a lot of this story has been told to me after my blood sugar rose). They give me the glucagon shot and I calm down and come to soon after, finding myself drenched in the low sweats wondering what just happened. Then the rest of the trip seemed to go on as normally as possible after an event like this.

tl;dr: I went low at my grandmas house, proceeded to try and pick a fight w my grandma for telling me to eat the sugar, shouting "come at me grandma"

This group is awesome

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 6 months ago. After that I have a lot of experiences as a diabetic person. A lot of them are unique and funny. Glad find this subreddit and having a lot of diabetic people enjoying the same experiences expressed in memes. I don't feel alone anymore.

Funny low stories?

Here is my funny low story :

This was during camp. My mom woke me up and hands me my testing supplies. I first try to eat my Lancet device, thinking that it was some Smarties. My mom then took away the Lancet device, getting ready to poke my finger. I decide to poke my own finger with a test strip. My mom then took that away and ending testing me herself. My number was 54...

What are your funny low stories?

F.Y.I. This is my first post on Reddit.

So I’m standing in the kitchen this morning (f24-t1diabetic) scarfing down orange juice and I said “man I hate lows”. When from five feet away my boyfriend (m24-normie) exclaims “yeah I’m more of a Home Depot guy myself”. I almost lost valuable lifesaving liquid out of my nose.

I didn’t know whether to let my low take me down or muster enough orange juice strength to hit him. But damn I love that man. (5:45 am low).

Searching Orthopedic Shoes for Father

My father is a diabetic patient and his doctor suggested him to exercise daily specially jogging in park or any good relaxing environment. Recently my father diagnosed with plantar fasciitis problem and simple running shoes is creating pain while jogging. We asked for doctor, he recommended to buy orthopedic shoes for plantar fasciitis that have specially created for diabetic patients that have orthotic insoles with good cushioning support.

I found orthofeet.com for the shoes that I want and other suggestion are helpful as well but I guess I must visit a store with Father to buy orthopedic shoes so that salesperson can guide us more well rather then we just offer it online and don't get the product we actually want.

What was the weirdest thing you've eaten when your sugar was crazy low?

Melted some peanut butter and mixed it with maple syrup for a dipping sauce. I dipped frozen corndogs in it.
