I have an HP laptop, Mac Mini, and a PS5 on my desk. I have 2 monitors. When using the Mac or the laptop I would like them to connect to both monitors and my mouse and keyboard with the ability to switch easily. I would also like to be able to switch my left monitor to my PS5 easily. What products can I use to have minimal cable unplugging and plugging? I don't care too much about seeing the cables, I just don't want to get tangled up in them all the time when switching from one device to the other
The priority is the computers, and if it has to be that I switch and HDMI from a computer or dock to the PS5 when I want to use it then so be it
I bought these off of Amazon and am pretty happy with them to funnel cables beneath my desk. The remaining issues are my monitor's power and display port cables. I would like to run them down on the back of the monitor's stand, but the the stand's backside is rounded, so the cable clips won't stick.
Any ideas on what I could use to fixate my monitor's cable on the back of the monitor's stand?
Hello! Love this sub. I very much appreciate some nice cable management, coming from the electrical field in particular. I enjoy my budget set up, but am looking for more clean solutions. I will be getting some very big raceway for the back at some point.
Curious if there is a better way for me to connect HDMI and still be able to switch laptops.
I have a very mobile life, so removal is important. Also, the gaming laptop (right), gets hot, so I open her up when used heavily.
I don’t want lights on it or led flashiness annoying me
I want it to be fast charging ports to charge my devices like my MacBook, controllers etc and the hub would be connected to the wall obviously to help with power.
Also since everything is usb I want the ports to be mostly usb c ones and a couple maybe normal usb
I’m in the uk. What are my options?
I have an iVANKY FusionDock Max 1 which is a great dock but uses this dual thunderbolt cable and I hate how it sits out the side of my laptop and down towards my desk. The cables obviously don't always sit together and it looks a bit messy.
I'm looking for ideas to connect the two cables together so they looks more like a single cable. I did look at some clips but I would prefer some kind of sleave maybe?
This kind of cable would be ideal but seems it only works with the company that makes its docks (the end wouldn't fit my dock anyway)
So it turns out the cable management on my monitor arms is a bit rubbish.
The top section bends away so you can stuff cables in (in the picture, I am using this to stop the cables drooping below the monitor) but the bottom section requires you to push the cables into the slot.
The bottom section will not take the cables (one fits, the other will not go in no matter how much force)
I've decided I should try and hide the cable behind the arm, currently using a velcro strap. This still looks a bit naff so I'm wondering if I should use some black electrical tape (may not be strong enough) or get some adhesive cable ties to stick to the back of the arm? Or maybe just let them drop down (it's kinda hard to get the cable to follow the bend of the arm anyway)
I am obviously going to bunch them together with cable sleeves or some ties (cable sleeve will probably look better)
Dear Reddit community,
I am a final year mechanical engineering student at University of Bristol. I have always hated messy cables and still cannot believe they exist. After finding this community, I saw that I was not alone. As with many of the people in this community, I have been looking tirelessly for a cable retractor that winds automatically and allows for the use of my own cables. I found nothing. And so i decided to create Pebbl. We are currently a humble team of 3 and I am working on the prototyping whilst my team works on the branding and market research.
I would like to stress that the video shows a very early prototype, acting as a proof of concept. Looking around these forums I can see that having the cable only wind from one end and holding longer cables is important, so my current development is steering in that direction.
I thought this is the best place to seek for any advice and feedback so please let me know what features you would like to see in this device. If I can get a big enough community of followers, I would like to create a Kickstarter campaign and take this to market, solving the messy cable problem once and for all!
If you're interested, we have setup a preliminary market research form for you to fill out; it should take no longer than 3 minutes and is anonymous. Otherwise, you can follow us on Instagram to follow our journey!
Thank you for your time, and I hope you are as excited as we are about this!
My set up is that my PC is above my desk like so: https://imgur.com/a/5h1hOq0
I was thinking of getting myself a cable sleeve with a zipper like this to really hide everything: https://imgur.com/3Okf29h
Should I connect all my cables to the PC first and then sleeve everything, or sleeve them first and then connect? Also, how should I handle cables that need to exit the sleeve early? For example, my PSU cable is at the very bottom of the case, so it would need to leave the sleeve earlier than the others which are more towards the middle of the case (GPU) and top of the case (mobo ports). Does that mean I should stop the sleeve at the level of the bottom of the case, allowing all cables to exit from there? Or should I use different sleeves for each cable? Or assuming I can pull a single cable, like my PSU cable, out of the sleeve early while keeping the rest of the sleeve intact and continuing it to the middle /top of the case. Does that approach make sense? Sorry if this is confusing—hope it’s clear!
Not sure how to best manage all these cables and keep the office looking nice.
Hello guys, I am new to this sub and I was wondering if I can get some tips on how to sort out all these cables. I have attached some pictures below for reference. I am currently using a Lenovo Legion Y540-15IRH and a AOC 27 Inch monitor. The table I am using can be found here.
Thanks in advance!
I've done a ton of searching and can't quite find what I'm looking for.
I'm a video editor and cycle through about 7-8 different external Samsung T7 USB drives. I'm looking for a way to physically organize them so they're not such a mess.
The only thing I could find is 3D printed items on Etsy like this (photo below) https://www.etsy.com/listing/1559125824/samsung-t7-ssd-holder-for-t7-t7-shield?ref=sim_anchor
I'm shocked to see that no company is selling something similar at scale.
Does anyone have any other organizational suggestions? I'd prefer something enclosed and more secure from theft. Like with a Kensington lock, if possible.
Please delete this post if it's not allowed. Thank you.
Does anyone know of an affordable retractable USB to USB-C retractable cable reel like you'd see on an air line in a garage? I bought one off amazon but the cable extends from both ends and I want to install it in a passenger dashboards of a work vehicle. UK
Hey all,
I'm tired of adhesive clips that fall off. I'm redoing my desk and am looking for new solutions.
Currently, I use sometjing very similar to these: Rustark 2 Sizes Adjustable Self-Adhesive Nylon Cable Straps https://a.co/d/dIgycVv
Honestly, they are nearly perfect, except for the adhesive.
Here are things I'm looking for:
Like I said, my existing clips are very good, they can handle anywhere from 1 to like 7-8 cables depending on the type. And they are adjustable. But they just fall off so easily. Technically I could screw them in but I'd have to go through the adhesive pad.
I've looked at J channels but they are all long. My standing desk isn't too big and it has mechanical components that make long runs of material difficult.
What do you guys suggest?
So this is my first ever post (pic for attention) but anyway i would like to know some better cable management specifically to stuff like usb cables that hang from stuff like led sign lights that are wall mounted, or those triangles/hexagons people have up in those fancy setups, i always only ever find cable management for pc setups that are way more simple like 1 screen, 1 mouse and one board like yeah thats easy af, but i have say 15 accessories on my setup of a few screens and i have alot of things around my desk/walls where these stupid black or white wires are just hanging straight down of half hazardly across because nobody seems to make cables longer the a few feet anymore, unless it a moniter then the cable is rolled up 14feet, anyway id love some ideas, i have a tray already for under my desk but it only good for keeping cables up and not hideing them its see through and messy looking, do people just hide there hanging usb cables behind wall paneling and usb extensions?
