PLEASE READ THE RULES. WE HAVE A NO TOLERANCE POLICY FOR CONTRIBUTORS WHO FULFILL [PAID] REQUESTS FOR FREE. DO NOT WORK ON [PAID] REQUESTS UNLESS YOU WERE HIRED TO DO SO. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. IF YOU ARE DOING THIS, YOU WILL BE PERMANENTLY BANNED. AS A REQUESTER, DO NOT HOLD CONTESTS OFFERING PAYMENT FOR THE BEST FINISHED PRODUCT. IF YOU ARE DOING THIS, YOUR POST WILL BE REMOVED.
MAKING A REQUEST: Rules for Requesters
–––
Actually post an image(s)
We will delete any requests where a poster does not link an image(s). –––
Be polite
A little courtesy goes a long way to the contributors who are fulfilling your request. 'Please' and 'thank you' will suffice.
–––
Guide prices
Want to pay a colorizer to restore that image of someone dear to you? Have respect and pay them an amount that you would pay any professional - otherwise you are devaluing their hard work.
See /u/photojacker's breakdown of a low offer
–––
Single portrait or complex image?
Don't assume a simple portrait shot in the studio and an extended family shot featuring 26 people outdoors are the same thing. There is a world of difference between the two - hours can and will turn into days, and make sure your [PAID] compensation reflects this.
–––
Does your image need restoring first?
Colorization requests only please. Contributors may be able to undertake minor restoration work, but please save generic image manipulation requests to /r/picrequests;
–––
Image Quality
For best results, use a scanner to capture images. Cell phone photos of black and white images are often not the best quality for colorizing. And upload your photo to Minus, Flickr, or Dropbox for best results.
–––
[Free] or [Paid]?
Please state in brackets whether or not you want the request to be fulfilled for free by starting your submission with [Free] or [Paid], your submission title, followed by the image resolution, i.e., [1200 x 800]

Please mark any NSFW requests as such;

[Free] commissions
Requests can be fulfilled by any number of contributors. It is the requesters responsibility to ensure that they update their request to show they are satisfied with their request;

Just finished a request?
Please consider uploading your finished colorized photo to Minus, Flickr, or Dropbox for best results. Imgur compresses files to a low 72dpi;

You are free to share your portfolio in the comment section of a request or via PM. Posts submitted by contributors showcasing their work or advertising their services will be removed.

This photo is from the era when my Dad worked alongside the Sheriff’s office as a newspaper man in NW Florida in the 1970s. It is by far my favorite picture I have of him. The fact that he was also a local pastor makes it even better. He would have turned 100 on 9/15.
It would really help me to imagine her as a living person. I only saw her face for the first time today and I’m in my 30s but I’m struggling to see past the black and white
I’d really appreciate it!
I have permission to post. Her grandmother passed away last week and as a gift I would like to have this photo colorized for her family.
I have 15 dollars available to pay for it. Shoot me a dm if you have questions.

This is a picture of my grandma in the 50’s, she died in the 80’s, Could someone help me so i can show this to my mom?
This might involve a bit more than colorizing as the photo quality does not seem great even with a high quality TIFF and JPEG scan (happy to send original scans if better). If this would be more appropriate as a paid commission I would be happy to do so. Link to the fraternity page which may give better insight to the purple color of their shield. Thanks in advance,
I will absolutely tip!
