/r/ColdWarPosters
A Subreddit dedicated to sharing the posters (now expanded to greater media such as films) created by various countries, societies, corporations, charities, artists, interest groups, during the Cold War (1947-1991).
During the Cold War era, dozens of countries produced and distributed posters and other forms of media, often with a political message. This subreddit is dedicated to exploring and discussing these posters.
Posting Policies
Despite the title, submissions are not limited to posters. Postcards, advertisements, paintings, murals, graffiti, sculptures, fliers, travel brochures, and any other relevant content is permitted.
All posters must have been created during or have relevance to the Cold War. Any political or cultural posters created between ~1918-1991 are considered relevant to this subreddit, as long as there is a connection to the Cold War. Any political or cultural posters created after 1991 are only considered relevant if there is a strong and direct connection to the Cold War.
Only authentic content is permitted. Parodies or other forms of inauthentic content are not permitted and will be deleted. This includes content that uses the style of well known Cold War posters, but contains completely unrelated content.
Currently, all image hosting sites are allowed, but Imgur is strongly encouraged.
After submitting, please add link flair indicating the country in which the poster was produced. If you cannot find the appropriate country, choose OTHER and contact the moderators.
Whenever possible, please provide the year the poster was produced. If you do not know the year, either indicate the decade or [unknown].
NSFW posters must be labeled accordingly. This includes any posts with violent or sexual content, profanity, or content that could be considered offensive or otherwise inappropriate for a workplace or school.
Comment and Other Policies
Hateful comments are not permitted. This includes any derogatory comments based on race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality, religion, age, or physical, mental, or intellectual ability.
Do not vote on submissions based on whether you agree or disagree with the poster's message.
Off topic or spam comments may be removed.
Personal attacks towards other users are not allowed.
Users are allowed and encouraged to create their own flair.
If you believe your post was removed in error or sent to the spam filter, please contact the moderators.
