So there was this star wars comic sight unfortunately it has gone dark and no longer working but knowing how some folks are I'm wondering if anyone here saved those comics. This is my personal favorite one but unfortunately I haven't been able to find it anywhere.
Im rewatching Star Wars for the first time since I was VERY young so I don’t remember much. I’ve finished the original trilogy and episodes 1 & 2. Do you suggest I watch The Clone Wars before watching Episode 3? And if so, should I watch it in chronological order or release order? I’ve never seen any of The Clone Wars before, so not sure what’s best for a first time viewer.
In the final D-Squad episode Anakin immediately demands that salvage crews get sent out to find R2 the moment he learns he was aboard the Venator that blew up. He's clearly flustered and worried for his friend. Obi-Wan is standing right next to him and doesn't say anything but does shoot Anakin a look of concern.
Obviously that's a very tiny moment but it's a stark contrast to back in season 1 when Obi-Wan was disappointed with Anakin over placing such an emotional attachment on a droid and only decided R2 was worth rescuing upon learning that he was carrying Republic Intel. Obi-Wan's silent sympathy towards Anakin's anxiety about R2 in season 5 really shows how much love and trust has grown between the two over the course of the war. Perhaps Obi-Wan himself has even grown fond of R2 after all the battles they've been through together. It's pretty nice to see Obi-Wan breaking out of the Jedi dogma and being more accepting of Anakin being more connected to others than the typical Jedi.
I know that the Clone Wars is a TV show for children but sometimes the sheer stupidity displayed in the show by the characters is astonishing.
I get the whole in universe tactical premise of landing at Point Rain is that Kenobi, Skywalker, and Mundi’s forces will air assault just outside of the shield wall, then enter it with armor to then take the shield out making an assault on the Droid foundry possible.
But WHAT WERE THEY THINKING (again still in universe, the writers can do what they want) when flying heavily laden troop transports into contested airspace WITHOUT fighter cover, did they want to get completely slaughtered like they did in the episode? And why wasn’t there a campaign to take out the EXPOSED Geonosian anti air emplacements? The Venetors and Acclimators had air to ground turbo lasers! Is the lore reason behind the Jedi tactical incompetence? Or was it just that nobody had fought a war for 1000 years? Because the Separatists definitely knew what they were doing. I mean no wonder why so many clones were happy to get rid of their Jedi commanders by the end of the war, god knows if I had a commanding officer that incompetent I would have mutinied far before then.
Props if you guess it
At first I thought it would suck but it’s actually pretty good. I just have to say the modern look like on earth they went with At Attin was a bit odd but ok.
I so far like that it includes a Jedi.
During the Umbara arc, after every thing Pong Krell did, why was Dogma arrested at the end? The clones all agreed that Krell had to go, so why did he take the fall for it?
I’ve been rewatching The Clone Wars and Tales of the Jedi, and I noticed something that got me thinking about the relationships between Jedi Padawans and their master’s master (sorry, I don't know the proper term for this).
In The Clone Wars, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan work together closely on countless occasions. Even though Obi-Wan isn’t her direct master, they clearly have a strong dynamic and often collaborate in the field. It makes sense since Anakin and Obi-Wan are constantly together, so naturally, Ahsoka would spend time with Obi-Wan, too.
But then I watched Tales of the Jedi, specifically episode 4, where Count Dooku says, “I should like to meet him (Obi-Wan) someday.” At this point, Obi-Wan is well into his teens and has been Qui-Gon’s Padawan for quite a while. How is it that Dooku—a prominent Jedi in his own right and Qui-Gon’s master—has never met Obi-Wan?
This seems odd when you compare it to Ahsoka and Obi-Wan’s frequent interactions. Why wouldn’t Obi-Wan and Dooku have worked together, considering their shared connection through Qui-Gon? Was this just an oversight, or does it say something deeper about Jedi culture at the time? Maybe the dynamics shifted between the pre-Clone Wars and Clone Wars eras?
The trailer just dropped, pretty awesome to see for a big Star Wars: Clone Wars fan like myself. Thought other's should see it too!

I was so happy that I got to meet Ashley Eckstein, James Arnold Taylor, and Matt Lanter at a convention a few weekends ago! I made this 24x36 Clone Wars painting in 2023, and was pumped when they announced that these three would be attending this con where I'm an art vendor. They really liked the painting!
I also went to Ashley's table later where I could take my time and show her/talk to her about the painting without the rush of the photo op. She was legit the nicest and sweetest celebrity I've ever met, and I've met a lot of them over my years at the con. A lot of people had bought the prints of my painting from me to get signed, and because of that her agent let me get this photo signed for free! When I told her that Clone Wars is my favorite and Ahsoka is my favorite character, she put on her Ahsoka voice and said "Well, you're stuck with me, Skyguy."
I'm still riding that high over a week later!
I know TCW initially had a tiny budget, although the films did not.
I know the clones didn’t get much attention in the prequels, but I don’t get why there is this resistance to hiring military consultants to give a work more realism?
It’s not like they have to take every bit of advice. If they think something is going to detract from the plot, they can choose not to follow it.
IIRC, Spielberg used a consultant on Band of Brothers and it made for an even more compelling mini series. (Although, I think he said it took BoB from 12% realism to 17% and I don’t know if he was being serious or sarcastic.)
Maybe saying Commander Fox should have been referred to as a Marshall Commander is just nitpicking.
But for someone who has no military experience (and was only introduced to TCW and other SW TV shows in 2022,) I’m always amazed by how poor some of the strategies and tactics are.
I understand SW has been around a long time (I remember when RotJ was originally released. SW has had a long lifespan, a lot of people have contributed and that makes correcting errors more difficult.
But TV and movies like Band of Brothers, Generation Kill, Black Hawk Down, Dunkirk, Saving Private Ryan, Platoon, Full Metal Jacket and others show how it’s possible to combine military realism and still have masterful storytelling and compelling characters. (I’m not going to argue how precisely realistic or not each of those was, because I have no idea!)
It’s great to see how newer SW material like Andor can reach new audiences.
And as much as I would love to see the clones in more live action as we did in Ahsoka, I don’t know if it’s feasible.
Dee Bradley Baker did an unbelievable job making the clones into distinct memorable individuals, but Temuera Morrison is not as young as he once was. Also, he might be rather unimpressed if Disney wanted him to play the clones but with DBB or someone else doing most of the clone voices.
I think the only way they could pull it off was to have him play a smaller group of post-war clones, like he did with his cameo of Nax in Obi-Wan Kenobi which I thought really hit the mark of showing what potentially happens to soldiers when they’re no longer needed. 😢
Anyway, what is your opinion about military realism in TCW and SW in general?
If you are current or former military personnel, is there anything that really resonates with you?
Or comes across as ridiculous?
