Do you think one is at a significant disadvantage applying for jobs with an EAD work permit in the Chicago area?

I'm starting a little hobby business and went to the chicago clerk's website to apply for a license. I applied for an "assumed business name" so it's not just "john doe's business." Sent them my $50 fee, paid someone $10 to notarize my application, then went downtown and dropped it off at Vital Records. The helpful clerk was like: "You now have 15 days to run this announcement of your business name in a newspaper or else you don't get the name and you'll need to reapply..."

I guess I'm wondering... what IS this?
