Please read the rules before posting.
The Canadian Premier League is the fully professional, FIFA-sanctioned soccer league that began play in April 2019. The league's focus is to fully "Canadianize" itself to improve talent and the sport in Canada.
The official Canada Soccer Association sanctioning of the league was made on the 6th of May, 2017.

I know that in the ncaa there are 3 how many there are in the Candian U Sports leauge?
Oh CPL, oh Vancouver FC why do you write cringe articles like this. This lads ego is already the size of Wales ! He’s probably sitting by the phone now waiting for Posh Spice to sign him up as her next supermodel. This is the guy that turns up on match day dressed as a fire chief ffs Or wearing dungarees!
He is a bang average CB in this league, no more no less.
He doesn’t need his tires pumped anymore. He needs to significantly improve as a defender to even make it out of Vancouver let alone this league.
He’s 6ft 5 but still only 8th ranked for arial duals won.
He can’t stay composed or play out of tight spaces, it’s Row Z under pressure.
Vancouver have the worse GD in the league and Callum Irving is single handedly keeping that stat down.
Yes Vancouver lead many defensive stats because they are perpetually under attack from the opposition if you haven’t been watching the past 55 games.

Honestly are VFC that desperate to hang onto players at the end of this season. Actually yes they probably are !
Does the U21 initiative work?
Years ago in France, Ligue UN has a similar rule (I think it was mandatory to have at least 2-3 U21s on the match day sheet. Don’t think playing time was calculated) but the observation wasn’t that it helped players develop, it just dragged them through the system a little longer, only for the vast majority to get dumped from rosters after they no longer fulfilled the quota.
Is there a stat that articulates what happens to U21 minute contributors once they no longer fulfill that requirement? Do they tend to develop and grow as professionals, or is there a mighty scrap heap of players out there who were discarded as soon as they added out (presumably to make room for the next generation of U21 minute gobblers)?
Is there a stat that compares teams for the percentage of roster players who actually play? Play over dome threshold number of minutes.
I have a pet theory t that one of the reasons HFX Wanderers fumble and fall is because they have played on the roster who rarely / never play. CanPL squads are too small to have passengers and Wanderers don’t have the luxury of a feeder system that offers up young talent to do spout duty like Forge or Cavalry do. I’d be interested to know if the Kareem Sows, Tavio Ciccarellis, et Al are typical on all rosters or if HFX artificially shortened the bench.
Hello and Welcome Back to another episode of Coast to Coast FC! The Canadian soccer podcast focused on all things CPL, Canadian Championship and more!

With three games to play there is now only 2 points separating 5-8th place.

Therefore I predict Halifax will sneak it into the playoffs.
What’s your predictions ?
I was wondering why didn’t someone notice Loic Kwemi of Valour FC around 7-8 years back. He is very talented and could have grown into a top player if someone guided him when he was younger. I know he is the best Futsal player in Canada but that guy has good XI a side IQ too.
Also, I was pleasantly surprised to see someone wearing FC Goa jersey at IG Field in Winnipeg. I know Hume had connections with ISL but didn’t expect someone wearing Gaur’s jersey!

Well Austin Ricci hasn’t scored successive hat-tricks as promised so far and Sellouf hasn’t made the promised impact either, (not sure he’s made any actually) HOWEVER it’s not all doom and gloom in Langcouver. Yes there is a humungous grey cloud still hanging over the club, but we earned our first point in 5 games yesterday in sunny Calgary.
Ok so we were a tad lucky to come away with something after a measly 33% possession and piss poor 67% pass completion but to the man we dug deep and kept (elbowed) Cavalry at bay for the most part.
I would even go as far and say we looked a little more organised than normal. Yes I know the bar is exceptionally low at present but nevertheless we did. What I don’t know is whether this was down to Ashfin’s tactics ? or the fact that every single VFC player probably wants out at the end of the season if he stays and are now so panic stricken about potentially having no club in 2025 that it was a case of every man to the pumps yesterday to salvage their careers. Either-way it kind of worked out.
I was going to suggest it was the 18 year old coach Dominic Rajna who tactically prepared the team for yesterday’s game, but have been reliably informed he left the club a few months back!
According to Kristian Jack we have been the worst performing team in the league since June and if results go against us today and tomorrow we could find ourselves in 8th place.
Has any other team led the league and finished last before ?
Anyhow Austin if you are reading this it’s time to deliver the promised goals in the final 3 games and earn a contract for 2025.
Therefore it’s fair to assume we need to secure 9 points from our remaining 3 games to stand any chance of making 5th place.
Anyone believe in miracles?

Will the 2024 playoff format be the same as last season with the 4v5 play-in and the winner v runner-up match up to determine the host for the Final?
