With the coming Holiday Season I've resolved to building my first PC, as I'm still learning I'd like some help in assembling a part list, and, If it's not too much trouble, I have some preferences of what I'd like included.
OS: Windows 11
Motherboard: Ideally one with a Q-Code counter to help fix issues that may occur.
CPU: Something from AMD, Intel has burned me too many times.
GPU: Something from Nvidia to make use of their frame generation tech.
RAM: At least 32 GB.
I used pcparpicker and I got " Compatibility: Warning! These parts have potential issues or incompatibilities. See details below."
The details were:
I got this build from a youtuber. But it's not clear to me that these potential issues are issues that require me to give up on this build. Like I just have to update the BIOS so is that a problem? Is the RAM really incompatible with the CPU cooler?
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor
Cooler: ID-COOLING SE-214-XT ARGB 68.2 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard

Hi, I'm looking to build a new PC setup to upgrade my current system. I'm frustrated at how loud and bulky the build is (orignal build here: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/fC3Ff7 )
I've made this as a possible upgrade but i'm not sure if all the parts would fit in the case: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/zachlfeldman/saved/KVNNvK
Main focus points:
Must be a silent operating PC (no loud fans, completely quiet)
must be a small build to sit on a desk
must have two SSD ports to connect
I don't know if I need a graphics card or not as we're running this software (https://www.radiodj.ro/) Adobe Audition, BUTT streaming software and Stereo Tools.
Must have ethernet and would like it to have WIFI.
Would love a green or black case for this build. I kind of love the case I put up in the new build but i'm open to a smaller form factor if possible.
Operating System: Windows 10
Would like to spend under $1000 for this build but i'm open to suggestions.
Thanks everyone!
Hi! I’m looking for some help/info on what to do to upgrade my of for a little better experience. I play cod6 and assetto corsa. My oc at the moment runs cod at around 60-70 fps and just feels tired overall.
Current build: GPU- Radeon RX 580 CPU- Amd Ryzen 3 3100 Motherboard- B550M DS3H PSU- Gamemax RGB 850 Case- Corsair rgb spec omega mid tower I know I need more storage and better cooling for sure but could anyone throw some ideas that I can order from amazon ? can be more than the 400$ limit im open for long term!
Looking to build a new PC because my current one is pretty old. I just bought a 27” 240hz 1ms monitor, so I’m looking to pair it with a 4080 super. I would also like the build to be white but I didn’t see many white options for the GPU.
My budget is pretty flexible, I can probably do $2000+.
Games I mostly play are Black Ops 6, LoL, some dark souls games.
Thanks!
What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.
Video (6K) editing (high priority), stills editing, gaming (low priority)
If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings)
'Average' - Who doesn't enjoy the highest of frame rates, but it's not my highest concern.
What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?
Max £2500
In what country are you purchasing your parts?
UK
Provide any additional details you wish below.
It's been FOREVER since I built a PC. The current one I'm using was got in 2020 pre-assembled and it's fine but not really cutting it for 6k video editing and it seems to have issues with USB usage; my USB ports turn off and on from time to time and no amount of troubleshooting seems to fix it.
I'm looking to build a beefy video editing machine, with decent internal storage and significant USB (C preferably) connectivity for plugging multiple external drives into. Often these USB Drives are Bus Powered (as in powered through the USB cable, is that the right terminology?...) and I worry it's this draw that's killing my current computers USB ports from time to time. I want to do what I can to avoid this with the new build.
I've slapped the above together and it would be nice to know if I'm on the right sort of path...
Intending to use the 2TB as boot drive, one 4TB as a current project edit drive for projects under 4TB and the other 4tb as a still image storage drive with a handful of games on it.
At the moment I tend to produce about 2TB of still image raws a year, and things get archived on external HDD boxes occasionally. Video footage comes in from external USB C SSD drives and gets copied to an External HDD for backup and to an internal SSD for the edit (unless it's over 2TB or I have a few projects on, in which case it goes to ANOTHER external SSD to edit off.)
I have monitors and peripherals.
I do enjoy pretty lights but RGB isn't a concern for me for this build at all. Neither is internal aesthetics (sorry..)
I'd rather avoid water cooling as it scares me...
Hey all! I’ve been using an alienware gaming laptop for the past 5 years and finally want to invest in a good pc setup.
My budget for the PC itself is around $2000, and about $2500 including monitor and other peripherals (although I’d love cheaper if y’all think it meets my desired play style/needs). I play a wide range of games including single player RPGs like cyberpunk, and bg3 as well as competitive multiplayer games like Apex and Cod. I don’t understand much about PCs but I know I don’t want anything less powerful than roughly a 4070ti super. I’m not super interested in 4k gaming but I am interested in a 1440p gaming setup that can handle heavier VR titles as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
My current laptop is on its last legs, with difficulties even running Minecraft. Currently trying to build my own Matx pc over thanksgiving break. My current biggest is maxed out at 1300 ideally. Main laptop purpose is gaming ( some office work)
Hey guys I want to get my son a new pc for Xmas he does some gaming and some video and music editing and I have no idea what to get him. Ideally I would like to keep the cost around $500 if possible. I’m pretty sure he would need wifi and Bluetooth other than that I don’t know much. He already has a good monitor, keyboard and mouse. Also may be able to reuse his current gaming pc case. Any help would be really appreciated.
First time builder looking for primarily a Gaming PC that can run AAA titles at max settings or pretty close to it.
Here’s the build as I have it right now:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NdbD8Q
The only thing not covered on this is the AIO, which is coming in a bundle with the case:
One area that I wasn’t sure on was the graphics card. I know I want a 7900xtx, but I’m utterly lost as to why some are ~$850 and why some are ~$1000+. I think I just opted for the cheap one in this build.
Any input is appreciated!
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/6KqgLc
This is my pcpartpicker list, I would like some price reduction's as on tight budget, if possible. I will be playing a variety of games, FH4,FH6, Asseto corsa, competitzione, EVO, Fortnite, Farming sim, truck sim and doing 3d modelling and rendering.(have a gpu sorted, depending on what I get a 1050 or 3060)(want to lower as best as you can
CPU
I thought of getting a Ryzen 7 5700x3d but for £1 more I can get a Ryzen 5900x which I think would suit 3d modelling more and have little effect on performance in games. (available to change this but only for something cheaper)
Motherboard
Thinking of getting the b550i instead of the a520i(both from gigabyte) or the Asrock A520m. the reason why Im thinking of the b550i is it has 2 gen 3 m.2's and would be good in my itx build as I can either have a 2.5" hdd or a fan, reduces space and allows fan for more airflow.
Ram
Don't think there is much to change just want a reputable brand ddr4 32gb which is black
SSD
Crucial t500 2tb for now and should hold plenty of games. Cheap rapid would settle for a reputable brand 5000mpbs drive for cheaper
PSU
Great wattage, future proof, the cheapest itx PSU I could find even cheaper like £5 to go to 750->850w
Case
Fractal design terra, tiny space it would fit in as my desk is small and its the only case that looks good, itx, cheap(waiting for a sale to get that yet)
CPU Cooler
Low profile, cheap, should work (130w cooling capacity I think)
May anyone make any recommendations, likely to buy the ssd as it's so cheap imminently, anything I would be exponentially grateful for.(posted on PCMR)
Many thanks
Budget has creeped up due to a Bitcoin windfall.
How is this list for AAA RPGs on a 34” G8 OLED ? Please suggest any improvements for the budget. Performance is key but I’m a casual gamer so can trade bleeding edge performance for good price value and marginal aesthetics
Everything already bought is returnable.
Things I’d like to keep most:

Thanks!
want to add 16gb to my existing 16gb DDR5, do need to match speed or manufacturer? If yes, how do i find ot what speed my ram stick is? Hopefuly without taking them out. know DDR4 rams require alternate slots like 1-3 or 2-4 is that the case with AM5 motherboards as well?
Hey all,
I’m looking to upgrade my current PC and have found several parts that I think will go well but want some help incase there is better options.
Going with this bundle I think. I mainly want the 7950x3D and a 4070 TI Super and 64GB ram. Everything else can be whatever. Main thing will be for gaming. Currently using 3 monitors and main one being a 1440p OLED monitor 240hz. Don’t need mouse or keyboard.
Any help would be appreciated. Going to wait till next week before I pulled the plug on parts incase new deals show up for Black Friday/Cybermonday.
Hey all!
I'm located in the UK and looking to buy a new set up during Black Friday and been out the loop on parts for 10 years now. Just need a PC that can play Avowed well when it comes out. Some things I need:
Help would be appreciated! :)
P.S should I also wait for more deals to show up during Black Friday week?
Hi all,
I am looking to build around ~2000 EUR (before Black Friday discounts) gaming PC for my nephew. The last time I built a PC was in 2020. I am not familiar with budget/value for money part of the PC part market, especially in the last 4 years.
Budget: ~2000 EUR (actual is 1500, hoping to score neat Black Friday deals)
OS: None given, need to buy (Windows)
Peripherals: everything required (case, fans, cooling too), he's only had Switch/Playstation up until now
Purpose: gaming. He's primarily Fortnite/Minecraft player, but I am assuming he will start getting into more "serious" games in the next few years.
Goal: longevity (he's 13, it is unlikely he will be able to pool money again for the next 3-4 years)
Requirements:
I had something like this in mind: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/94XkLc, but with that I have to pray that highest-price components are on a heavy discount.
Hey all I’m looking to get back into PC gaming now that I have a bit more time. I’d like to be able to game at a minimum of 1440p @ 60FPS, or 1080p at 120FPS. Needs WiFi and Bluetooth. I don’t play many AAA games, looking mostly at Fabledom, Civ, Kingdoms Castles, Halo Master Chief Collection, Halo Infinite, Doom, Orcs Must Die 3, to name a few.
I already have mouse and keyboard. I’m not factoring monitor into this budget, but would also appreciate recommendations for a 1440p OLED for around $500.
I’d prefer an AMD based system, but whatever is the best bang for the buck! Much appreciated and thank you in advance!
Looking to upgrade my PC to make it run a little bit faster and smoother. Hoping to hit 60fps preferably at 1440p at as cheap a budget as possible. Currently based in the UK.
Current build:
CPU | AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard | MSI - B350M GAMING PRO Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory | Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory
Video Card | Palit - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB StormX Video Card
Power Supply | EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 (EU) 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Also using an SSD as a boot drive and a HD for additional storage.
Have no fixed budget but would preferably keep things on the cheaper side.
This is going to be a new build and also my first time building my own pc.
I don’t have any parts that I can reuse.
I will mostly be gaming with but will occasionally watch movies or shows as well. I play single player games like Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, and Baldurs Gate 3. I would like to run these games with high or max settings with a decent 60-120fps at least. I also mod games a ton as well. For example I downloaded around 400 mods for Skyrim but that caused me to have about 10fps on my old computer.
I am not near a micro center. I live in the US.
I need a monitor but I was wondering with this monitor would be good for the pc I am looking to make. It is on sale right now and saw that it was a good deal. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D682HF6R?ref=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_Z7TY5MS37A9QE6A4399S&ref_=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_Z7TY5MS37A9QE6A4399S&social_share=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_Z7TY5MS37A9QE6A4399S&peakEvent=2&starsLeft=1&skipTwisterOG=1&th=1
$2000-$3000 including the cost of the monitor. Price isn’t a huge issue for me but I also don’t wanna spend too much for a marginal increase in performance.
I will be using an Ethernet.
I have no constraints about the size but I would prefer it to be not very noisy since I play with speakers. I don’t want my pc to be too loud but some amount of noise would be ok.
I don’t care too much about aesthetics since I’m planning to add my own but black would be nice. I would also like leds but they are not necessary.
I am very new to building pcs so I am not too familiar with a lot of it. I don’t really have specific needs and would just like a pc to be able to run modded games like cyberpunk at max graphics for a decent fps. I don’t need like 4K graphics and 2k or 1440 would be good.
Hello! I have an old gaming PC, but I got it in middle school, and I've graduated from college now, so it's a bit old now. I'm realizing it's starting to slow down, so I'd like to build a new one. I plan to give my old one to my younger brother in high school, so I'm trying to restart and not just upgrade. My boyfriend plays a lot of games, and I would love to party with him, but often my computer can't keep up. Not looking for a powerhouse PC, just one I can play Overwatch and Monster Hunter on that won't lag on medium-low settings. Super new to this, so please let me know what I should be doing/getting!
Also, this is a surprise for him, hence why he isn't helping me.
EDIT: I would like a black case if possible, maybe one with glass. Other than that I don't have any real stipulations lol. I've heard Intel is better than AMD, but I definitely wouldn't know if that's true.
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
My BF is using my old PC but it is now really struggling. It's a 7-year old Dell that wasn't particularly fast or amazing when I bought it. Looking to give him an upgrade for Christmas. He mostly plays strategy games like Crusader Kings 3, Civ 6 (and 7 when it comes out soon), He likes Cities Skylines as well and would like to play 2, but I can assume that CS2 may be a bit of a stretch with the budget. He'd also like to play Baldur's Gate 3, maybe Divinity Original Sin 2. He also likes some older games like Age of Mythology,
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
$700
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
Looking to purchase around Black Friday to take advantage of any deals.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)
He already has a keyboard, mouse, and monitor--he doesn't care much for super intensive graphics so his monitor at 1080p is fine. I can source my own Windows OS
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
I'm about an hour away form a microcenter in Chicago and can ask a friend who lives close to it to pick it up.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
A 27" dell monitor--it's old and nothing special. Not sure about the model #s.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
I don't have experience in overclocking so I'm not really sure what it's used for or if it would be helpful for me.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
No.
Extra info or particulars:
Nothing really--happy to take any advice!
As the title says, this is my first time ever building a PC and I know literally nothing about it. I'll probably even have Micro Center actually assemble it for me because I don't want to bother. I was going to wait for the 5090 to release but I think a 4090 should be good enough for my needs. Windows will be the operating system.
This is a new build without any existing parts, and I mainly want to use it for gaming (ideally a large variety with some large, graphically demanding games at the highest or very high graphics/resolution settings) and running LLMs (large ones, so large RAM amount preferred. I would like one monitor, preferably 4K resolution. Not sure about size and refresh rate, so whatever you think would be optimal. I will likely switch between using a wired and wifi connection as well.
I'm a fan of colorful RGB lighting and especially white cases, but black is fine too. I would also like a large storage amount and I'm open to keyboard and mouse suggestions as well.
I am in the US and live near a Micro Center.
My budget is $5000 as a maximum. I would prefer 4000 or below of course, but I'm fine with going up to 5000 as well.
12 year old system in need of an upgrade - She's still got some life in her, but I live in constant fear of her failing. Mainly use for browsing and some gaming. Many years I haven't even turned her on, but started using more often these days.
Here are the current specs.
i5-2500k
GTX 670
16GB DDR3 Vengeance
Cooler Master GX 650w
Gigabyte Z68AP
Small coolermaster elite case
I am not bothered about aesthetics and i'm happy to reuse elements if needed. Happy to pay £500 but would be happy with less.
Hey there guys, thanks for taking the time to help me out!
I'm currently looking to upgrade my PC to make it 5080 + Cyberpunk/Witcher 3 4k Path/Raytracing ready.
I'll also be playing other game like Forza Horizon 5 etc. but Cyberpunk/Wither 3 will most likely be among the most demanding games I'll play.
This is my current setup:
Cpu: 3900x
GPU: 3060 12gb
Mainboard: ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (no idea why I spent 500Euros on a mainboard)
RAM: 32gb of 3200mhz cl16 DDR4
PSU: 850W BeQuiet
So now I'm wondering whether to go all out and buy:
Option 1
CPU: 7 9800X3D
Mainboard: x670/x870
RAM: 32/64gb's of 6000mhz 30CL DDR5
Costs: Around 1.000.00 Euros
Or should I maybe just chill, keep my ram + am4 x570 mainboard and buy:
Option 2
CPU: 7 5700X3D
Costs: 200.00 Euros
I could definitely use the remaining 800 for the upcoming 5080, I'm sure it'll be around 1.200.00 to 1.300.00 in Europe...
What do you guys think, will the 9800x3d make a huge difference in Frames/Frametimes/general smoothness vs the 7 5700X3D or will the difference be barely noticeable?
Any kind of input is highly appreciated!
Thanks guys!!!
I’m a long-time console gamer who’s finally making the jump to PC gaming! For years, I’ve wanted to build my own PC but always felt intimidated by the process. After some research and encouragement, I’ve decided to take the plunge, but I could really use some advice.
My main goal is to create a cost-effective build that will last for years and run new-gen games with excellent performance. I already have a build in mind but want to make sure I’m making the right choices.
https://pt.pcpartpicker.com/list/xvQ2QP
Are there any parts I should swap out for better performance or value? My max budget would be probably 1700/1800, but if i could get it for like 1500/1600 I would prefer it.
Hey, My current PC has been really struggling lately with the newer games, primarily the CPU, so i wish to buy a new rig for about 1,2k€, excluding the gpu for now (i have rtx 3060ti so i think it should be okay for a few more months until i save up more). Current build:
Wishlist:
Other things can be whatever. I don't care for rgb, so i don't care if it has or doesn't. Don't care how the case looks like, as long as ventilation is good. Tax rate in my country is 22%, so take that into account i guess
If you need more info do ask :) future gpu will probably be something along the rtx 50xx line, but thats months away.
Any help and/or recommendations are greatly appreciated!
I built my current PC ~10 years ago and I've been feeling its age for a while now as well as semi frequent blue screens and so I've decided to bite the bullet and get a new PC.
I don't play the most demanding games but would like to be able to play them at high fps.
This PC would also need to run CAD/SolidWorks.
WiFi and Bluetooth are not a requirement but the more USB ports the better.
I don't know enough about Intel vs AMD to have a preference.
I can maybe stretch my budget for a build that will last another ~10 years.
Edit; Thanks for the reccomendations.
G’day, I’m in the market for a new pc to play AAA games, Beam NG Drive, Emulators & competitive FPS games. I’m looking for a pretty high end rig which can last me another 5+ years. Looking at the 4080 GPU’s but may wait until 50 series is released. Currently own a NZXT h510 case not sure if they’re large enough to fit new end gpus, let me know what you have in mind. Max budget 3.3k AUD. Cheers
