Do I need more minis?

Last February I took a break from my Soviet Horde and bought and built a box of Warlord Pioneers. After 3rd edition was announced, was gifted the Waffen SS army from a friend (at the time he had a U.S., British, and Italian army and did not want a 4th army) and I built that army. Now as I prime them to be painted, I released that I might be short on firepower.

The Engineers (Primed and basecoated for early to mid war):

An Officer with 14 soldiers armed with SMGs. 11 soldiers armed with rifles (ran out of SMGs). 2 soldiers with LMGs.

Waffen SS (Primed and will be painted for late war):

1 officer with broom-handle Mauser (looked cool, don't know if it should be SMG or Assault rifle). 1 officer and 13 soldiers with STG-44s. 4 LMGs. 24 soldiers armed with rifles. 4 of the STG-44 soldiers and 4 of the rifle Soldiers are equipped with a Panzerfaust.

I plan to run my officers with 2 attendents all armed with STGs or SMGs or would y'all not recommend doing that?

Would y'all recommend I get more minis equipped with STG-44 and SMGs or would I be able to scrape by with what I got.

German Mythos/Konflict 47 Paint Scheme

I showed some picture of my partly built and unpainted models that is a Mythos style Konflict 47 German army and I've been sat here wondering what paint scheme to use, and more importantly, what faction (within the Reich)

I've got some random books about German Occult and other stuff that Hitler was obsessed with and this ties in nicely to the Konflict 47 style timeline. In that regards, there is something called the "Black Sun". I know what your all going to say about it as I've read some stuff on this as well, but hear me out on this.

My faction is going to be modelled around the Black Sun whose influence and importance rose dramatically after the events of the Rift in the 47 timeline. As such, they became an organisation which became Hitler's spear aimed at the Allies heart and thus, got preferential treatment when it came to weapons, tech and all that jazz.
So, Himmler (sniffing a golden opportunity), put Reinhard Heydrich in command of this new branch of the SS. Heydrich immediately put the German scientists to work on creating the ultimate vengeance weapons that Hitler had demanded and, once number were sufficient, unleashed them on the Allies as they crossed France.

With this success, they were granted a newer style of SS uniform (which I plan to be the standard SS style but with more mythos purple thrown in somewhere. Oh and green for the Nazis Zombies). This led them to become a feared unit on any battlefield, proudly showing their regimental colours and not using the tried and tested camouflage patterns common during those times.

This is so far, my basic faction scheme and "lore" that I'm working with. I'll do a test model and see what it looks like.

What you guys think? Shall I stick with the usual German style colours common in WW2, or embrace the rift and go all out on these models and see what I get?

SS uniform camo

I just bought some SS for v3 and im debating on camo pattern. Do they usually run a single camo pattern during the time of year or did it happened to be mixed color per unit. Im going for the oak leaf pattern instead of the pea do to get better at painting camo.

Ideas for uncommon army

Hi Everyone

Im thinking on starting a new army. For context: I own LRDG for north africa, Seabees and UDT for the pacific and Finland for the eastern front. I know i'm missing an army for Western Europe.... but as you can see, i don´t usually pick the regular choices.

Some options i have been thinking are US segregated battalions with tons of trucks for a "Red Ball Express" themed army, or an Evac Field Hospital (german or US) with ambulances, transport trucks painted as ambulances, mixed light wounded troops for the squads, and so on... but i'm not totally sold on any of those ideas.

So... Hive mind... any ideas of uncommon units that were deployed, preferably during mid to late war, in western europe i should look at? (Preferably nothing too fanatic in terms of ideology, whichever it is) And how would you build it list-wise

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Alternative to the Zis-3

So I hate building the metal zis-3 kit from warlord, so I'm trying to find an alternative, unfortunately rubicon don't make one but I'm wondering about modeling my soviets have perloined a different nations field gun to use but what would be the most suitable one for them to steal?

Hopefully a kit that comes in plastic

Bolt Action - Non-historical Conversions?

How does the general playerbase feel about non-historical conversions or proxies?

For context, I'm planning and collecting a USA army that will combine some more modern tech (like using Patton tanks as Pershings), and some sci-fi bits as well like head and weapons swaps (mostly for special weapons to still try and keep it WYSIWYG). This is primarily motivated by trying to have a unique force that can be fielded in a wide range of settings. I know Konflict '47 exists, but I feel like there's more Bolt Action players out there so it'd be easier to find a game. Thoughts?

Alternatively, I'm planning on having a few substitute units and alternate tank turrets to slot in if the folks I play with get to be real sticklers about historical accuracy, but if it seems largely unnecessary I'll spend my effort on other things.

Cheers!

Newbie looking for Battle of Berlin Resources and advice

Hi,

I'm thinking of making an army for Bolt Action. I read Twilight of the Gods: A Swedish Waffen-SS Volunteer's Experiences with the 11th SS-Panzergrenadier Division 'Nordland', Eastern Front 1944-45 and other sources describing the units that fought in the Battle of Berlin in April and May 1945.

E.g. this day by day guide: https://berlinexperiences.com/the-battle-of-berlin-1945-a-day-by-day-account/

some camouflage schemes: https://weaponsandwarfare.com/2020/08/30/german-afvs-berlin-1945/

https://weaponsandwarfare.com/2019/08/23/berlin-april-1945-i/

https://weaponsandwarfare.com/2019/08/23/berlin-april-1945-ii/

I am interested in creating an army around this battle, focusing especially on the foreign units of the 33rd Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS Charlemagne and the mentioned 11th SS-Panzergrenadier Division 'Nordland'.

Does anyone know of any other materials worth studying? Does anyone have an idea how I should build my army (what to buy, etc.)? I have the 3rd edition rules but haven't had a chance to play yet. Thank you all!

Do anyone actually use Recce Infantry Platoons in their lists?

As written now, they are not particularly useful. They are a watered-down infantry platoon whose only advantage is fielding an extra Observer (which is expensive and not an option taken too often). Paying recce for transports could add some additional durability to the infantry on the move, but that is all. There is little "recce" on them.

It could be a much more interesting choice if they have an option for adding a Rece vehicle so you can have some light support without having to pay for an Armored Platoon.

I hope we see more variety for this platoon in future "Armies of...". Thoughts?

Armies of... Wishlist

Out of curiosity, what would you like to see in your respective 'Armies of' book, and what would be the justification?

In Armies of Great Britain, I would love to see a LRDG Platoon, which would give bonuses to motorized infantry and soft-skinned vehicles.

Also, Fast rule or upgrade for Crusader tanks, because removal of speed limiters was a widespread field modification, and Nuffield Liberty engine had some considerable power when unleashed.

Vehicle size question.

New to bolt action. Just got the starter box set. I live in Japan and will mainly be playing with one friend.

Since we have loads of Tamiya models around here. I'm considering using some as stands in models in game. Hence my question..

Would it work in game to play 1/48 scale models with the 28mm official game range? According to the rulebook it translates to 1/56 scale. Problem is Tamiya has either 1/48 or 1/72 scale which I presume will be easy to small.

Any input or opinions appreciated. Again, it will be super casual games..

Is this Army List good enough?

I'm a fairly new player trying to build a competent list for US Forces to go against my friend's Japanese forces. The last time I played him, his forces consisted of (rough approximation) a rifle platoon with 2 squads of infantry with an squad leader with SMG, an LMG, and a knee mortar in each squad, 2x Anti Tank Rifle Teams, 4x Chi-Ha tanks, and an artillery platoon with a medium howitzer. All of his units were regular.

I had roughly 2x USMC squads veterans with a shotgun and 2x BARs in each squad, 2x Bazooka Teams Veterans, a Halftrack, 1x Medium Medium Mortar Veteran w/ spotter, 2x MMG teams, and a Sniper Team Veteran.

The game quickly turned bad as my Bazookas for 4 shots decided to hit but not pen a singular tank, my Halftrack & MMG team were blown up by his medium howitzer, and then my Bazooka teams losing their loaders making hitting tanks harder

In this list, I've went with the idea "I'm not taking any fucking chances when it comes to anti-armor" However, trying to keep my forces robust by adding in the Mortar Halftrack and the Flame Stuart.

Not sure if this list is good or not.

Also am I playing the US correctly by trying to keep the Japanese farther out from me while trying to keep my rate of fire up with BAR and MGs?

I really like this game but I'm falling into the "Feel Bad" area due to how bad my rolls have been in general. I get it's a game of chance but I'm starting to feel like I'm just not playing it right or something.

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Stupid question

Lets say, hypothetically of course, you were to have make a German list using:

15 Rifles, 4 SMGs, 5 LMGs and assistants, and 6 Assault Rifles

How would you make it, and what would you add/remove?

I dropped it picked up star wars legion and now I wanted to get back into it. I also have other models like another german winter, a panter tank, a Sherman and a comand unit for each side.

Panzer for both BA & K47

I want to get the Pz IV-X Turret https://us.warlordgames.com/products/pz-iv-x-turret

And be able to switch it out with the top part of a Bolt Action or different brand panzer so I could effectively have a K47 or a BA tank. Any ideas on what panzer would be the easiest or best to do this with?

A Panzer 4 of some kind? The Wirblewind?

Thanks in advance

Infantry and line of sight/line of fire?

https://preview.redd.it/7yu6qsbbfg4e1.png?width=781&format=png&auto=webp&s=fc4b0e9828b74218a47ff78146f8ede8a1b02431

Schützen squad is activating. If they move up to the hedge as seen in above picture and target the lone sniper. The squad in between are troops hostile to the attackers. Do they block line of sight or line of fire? Are they providing cover/some benefits for the target?
