Is the Char 2c mandatory in a french armoured platoon in 3rd?

Is that their only command vehicle? and so any armoured platoon needs the 250 point train of a tank first and foremost?

Sherman 76 vs. 75

Hey guys, I'm starting out with bolt action and just ordered my first minis. I will play the US in a late war scenario and I'm thinking about my tank options. 75mm Shermans seem like a really efficient use of points because they effectively have the he template of a heavy at-gun. Is it even worth upgrading to a Sherman 76?

Tank MG rules

A Sherman attacking can fire the hull mounted MG, the pintal mounted MG and either the turret coaxial MG or the main gun. The rules half the volume of fire for the hull mounted MG. If I choose to fire the coaxial MG, does it fire a 6 or 3?

Italian Armor in Russia

I'm building a European themed Italian force to use for some up coming Greece, Sicily, Mainland Italy and Russia campaign/scenarios with the guys. Does anyone know what armor Italy fielded in Russia? From my research I know it was a lot of L6/40 and Sevomente 47/32 and the M13/14 never served there. I can't find concrete eveidence if the AB41, Sevomente 75/18, L3/35 were fielded there. Anyone know if they did or any other armor that was fielded? Thanks!

ARs and "volksgrenadiers" in V3

Hey guys i wanted to open up a little discussion about assault rifles in the new edition. Do you think theyre still worth including being increased to 6 points each? Also, how do "volksgrenadiers" type of units (green infantry with ARs) have it in this edition? I never ran them in the last edition, but i feel very intrigued by them...

How do Transports work

I haven't had a chance to read the 3rd edition rules for transports, but I was wondering if you could take multiple units within a single transport or can you only put on unit in a transport. As an example putting a 10 man squad and a 2 man anti tank weapons team inside a vechile with 12 capacity? Do Transports get their own order dice, and how does dismounting and mounting a vechile, can you advance or run, or just do one of the two (only advance out)?

US starter list

Hey guys, I want to start a bolt action army together with my brother. He'll play the germans and I want to play the US-Army. We played a few games in tabletop simulator and that's my idea for the first 1k points. Do you think Sherman + Chaffee would be a good choice? I could also free up some points and do Sherman 76 + Chaffee or just double Sherman, maybe one with 105. I decided to do 8 men infantry squads with 7 rifles, so I can loose one without loosing fire and maneuver, and a single BAR. I'm just not sure if that's the right thing to do with my infantry, how do people tend to build them normally? I also included 2 bazooka teams because I lack a heavy at-gun. I would be happy to get some tips on general list building and ideas on my first 1000 points. =)

How many Pins?

Successful Artillery barrage Two adjacent target units (A&B) Roll for target A=4, D3 pins e.g. 2Pins Roll for target B=6, HE4 template. Template also hits target A. Target B hit & resolved as normal. Target A hit (models under template) + D3 pins e.g. 3

Is the total number of pins for target A cumulative with their own result? (5 total) Or the max out of the two (3 total) so not sure if it follows normal rules for pins from units or not as artillery barrage is not a unit nor does the barrage come in during the FAOs activation.

I imagine likely a grey area but if anyone can show otherwise with reference to rules/errata would love to see it.

Kelly's Heroes

So, I got the Oddball Sherman and am working on a drop-in conversion to make it a Tesla Sheman (I want to use it in bolt action as well). I need a third opinion on my small problem, Private Kelly, and the rest.

Would they be better as a paragon squad or regular armored infantry?

thoughts on German howitzer tanks?

Working on a German force that specifically leans into tanks over artillery. I'd like to have a light howitzer in the mix, but I am struggling to find a tank howitzer option I feel comfortable running (I normally prefer artillery, but thematically I am trying to run a more mechanized force).

German 233 Stummel

Couple questions I wonder:

Was curious if people felt hull mounted howitzers felt too restrictive with their 45° arc, and I should just stick to panzer III/IV's (to avoid always hitting on 5+)?

For vehicles that are hull mounted, is the tactic more to just drive up and fire point blank into a unit for a 3+ to hit? or hang as far back as possible and lob shells like some over-costed artillery?

Are light howizters on tanks just generally not worth it, and if I do anything it should go right to the 205pt medium howitzer StuH?

If they are not worth it on heavy armor, is there any value in running 2 cheap 105-108pt light howitzer armored cars like the sdk234/3 or the half-track Stummel (with the 8 man trasport capacity) instead of 1 StuH?

Am I approaching anti-infantry tanks completely wrong, and I should be looking at AA-vehicles with x4 light-autocannons instead?

Any experience on any of these fronts is appreciated :)

Double Tigers in a 1250 point game?

Hey folks, relatively new to the game (but not to tabletop). As someone who likes painting armored vehicles more than infantry, I ended getting two Tiger Tanks to assmeble. Seeing as Bolt Action had substantially buffed heavy tanks, how terrible would a double-tiger list be in a casual setting? I know these probably would suck in a very competitive tourney, but considering I'm in a more casual playing group, I wonder how'd it fair.

The list in my head is currently like this: Armoured Platoon: 670 points X2 Tiger, Regulars, plus command rule.

Rifle platoon 1: 235 points X1 platoon commander (with 1 body guard) X3 Regular Grenadiers (5man), each with 1LMG

Rifle Platoon 2: 344 points X1 platoon commander with 1 body guard X2 regular grenadiers (5 man) (no upgrades) X1 Veteran Grenadier, 10 man, 3 with SMG X1 sdkfz 251 halftrack

Order Dice: x11

How do you think this looks? Is there anything else I can do to improve this if I decide to bring two tigers? Game plan is to let the three LMG Grenadiers sit in good positions at the back and plonk away, while the two 5 man grens run towards the center objectives and avoid being shot. The 10 man veterans and 1 platoon commander meanwhile gets on a halftrack and uses it to try and rush down one side of the board and hunt for a meaty target or weapon team to take out. Tigers I figure will just try to stay in cover and shoot their tanks.

New American set as Hungarians

Having looked at the new battle of the bulge set, I can't help but feel that I could use the American winter bodies with German helmets and arms to make some decent looking Hungarian winter infantry to go with some of the quilted pants guys from the FJ set, any thoughts?

Terrain classification

Hello!

I find the terrain and cover clasification bit vague (in V2, I don't have V3 rulebook yet), and I ask for bit of guidance.

How would you classify a patch of rocky ground, or group of large scattered boulders? In terms of terrain and cover.

Is it possible to have Open terrain, that is also Dense cover? How would that look like? Or is Dense cover usually also a Rough ground?

Would you classify a simple wooden fence for cattle made of beams an obstacle, or just as open ground providing light cover?

Thanks!
