I want to make sure this translates to “sari” or “saree” as I want to get it tattooed. It’s supposed to be a nod to my ex-girlfriend who was Bengali. More personally, it’s also to pay respect to growing up secretly trans and never really showing it.
Are there any scripts or fonts I should use for this? I plan to have the main flat line run the circumference of my right leg with the remainder of the word on the front of my leg/thigh.
Thank you.
As oth a Hindi and Urdu speaker, I see that the colloquial language, Hindustani is the same. It has little to no differences, yet they can be written in both Arabic (abjad) and Devanagari (abugida) script. I was wondering if it is possible for bengali, wh8ch uses the abugida type scritp, also true. The script is also artistic. So, you you ever try to do that? How will you do that?
This has nothing to do with anything. I'm just thinking it as an unofficial script for Bangali.
Not (necessarily) literal translation.
Hi, I am an independent researcher and was looking for a translation of Swarnakumari Devi's, Dipnirban, in english. Can anyone please point out any hints regarding this or any of her other works. This may not be the right sub for this post, but I couldn't find anything else. I will appreciate any help. Thank you.

I'm bengali but I was raised abroad so aside from my (pretty big) family I don't have many examples of daak naams and I don't wanna use any of theirs bc it's. awkward.
the story I'm writing is basically a supernatural, ghost hunting one. the lead is a girl who was born w v (and I mean vvv) lucky. her luck extends to even ppl in her surroundings and good things happen to ppl around her. so even thou she can see ghosts, which the villagers think is a bad sign and r kinda spooked of, she's still approached often and I want her nicknames to reflect that. someone who's like a blessing or v fortunate.
any kind of sweet name is welcome btw (she was raised by a single doting father I think he's v unlikely to call her munni, rinku, puchki, tultul and all yk). her bhalo naam is mrinalini btw.

Hi everyone,
I am a master's student at Georgia Tech and I am doing a class project around learning South Asian languages. I was hoping the moderators of the subreddit nad other active redditors on the community would be willing to have a chat with me so that I can understand how subreddits help or don't help with language learning, specifically when it comes to south Asian languages like Bangla, Hindi, Urdu, Tamil, etc. Please comment if you'd be willing to chat with me.
Thanks!
Native Bangla speaker from Dhaka here— my best friend at college is Paraguayan and is interested in learning Bangla. Obviously there aren't that many good resources (Duolingo-style) online, so I thought maybe I could teach him? I want to prioritise informal speaking over reading/writing, what's the best strategy to go about teaching him?
For background I am an odia but i really want to learn bengali as I am planning to live there in future i am fluent in both odia as well as Hindi and obviously english.
So to all the Bengali folks where do I start? Edit:I need to talk on this only for convos not for writing/
Hey all! I'm looking for online resources, exchanges, or places where I can connect with native Bengali speakers or fellow learners. My focus is on improving my Standard Colloquial Bengali, but I'd love to learn about any dialect as well!
Do you have any recommendations for:
I’m especially interested in places with a friendly community vibe where I can casually practice speaking or writing. Would be great to hear from you if you’ve come across any good spots!
Thanks in advance!
