In my position would you call an exterminator? I first had bites in September and then exactly 2 weeks later, more bites. They looked exactly as I would suspect bed bug bites too look. I live with 3 others, and no one else was getting any bites. I was worried so I did all the things. DEEPLY inspected ( I'm talking turned my house upside down), got every type of trap (sticky ones/ interceptors in all bedrooms and living rooms), put on mattress covers, steam cleaned. I have kept the traps up and keep inspecting and have found nothing so far, but the other day (now the beginning of December) I found three more little bumps on my back. Is this enough for me to call an exterminator? Should I just chill? Should I just continue to do my inspections? Is there a type of lure/ trap that will help put my mind at ease?
I’m now three months or so in the waiting to see if I brought bedbugs home from an infested hotel room. I did treat my clothes and tossed my old suitcase, I also wiped the things I couldn’t treat with heat with rubbing alcohol. I’m not sure if it was in fact enough. I didn’t bring my suitcase into my apartment, only my passport, charger and headphones, I did a visual inspection for those things. So I’ve been using white sheets on my own bed to monitor the situation, I found a few extremely small black stains on those in the past few weeks. I live in a three bedroom apartment, so far we didn’t find any live bugs, but I know they’re good at hiding. I didn’t do anything to the other two beds, but mine had Cimexa and DE on the headboard and mattress.
I guess I just want to know when will an infestation become more visible if we do have one, just to ease my mind a little. I appreciate any advice you could give.
Under bed
I started getting bites about two months ago, to which my papa waited about 4 to 5 weeks before getting our house sprayed for fleas and bugs. But my pillows are still having these little brownish spots on them. Plus, I know we have bed bugs, and I'm pretty sure I'm the host they're attached too. I've found them multiple times on my bed since the house was sprayed. I've already told my papa but he hasn't done anything yet. He's always been super slow with this stuff. What can I do? It seems the bed bugs are only in my room. I moved my room around yesterday too and I found many as well.
For context, my room is upstairs. I'm currently sleeping downstairs tonight because I found about 5 bed bugs moving around on my pillows and I didn't want to deal with it. I usually sleep there anyway but I got scared that they would crawl in my ears or something. Out of sight out of mind I guess.
Sorry for the long explanation, but idk what to do. My bed is technically still new, I've had it for 3 years and I really don't wanna have to throw anything away. My sheets, my quilt made by my aunt, my pillows, stuffed animals that live in my bed, or any of my clothes and my bags.
When my cousin lived with me before, we had bed bugs. But this was about 8 years ago.idk if that can contribute to it.
So anyway, what can I do right now to possibly minimize the bed bugs? I doubt my papa actually believes me on the bed bugs right now, so idk when an experiminator wil come.
Woke up with a few bites about 2 weeks ago on my side and then again today 4 bites on my chest. My mattress has a bed bug cover, but found this on my head pillow. It does kind of smear, but I was grossed out so I sealed it in a bag and tossed it pretty quick. The other 3 pillows looked ok. I haven't found any other obvious signs. Haven't seen any live bugs or skins or anything. Just what I think are bites and this.
Any chance this is something other than bed bug poop?
My friend found this at there house it looks like a bedbug but don’t know for certain please help😭
We are having a large party event in 3 weeks at a restaurant and I’m wondering if I should or should not invite a family member who was invested with bed bugs in her vehicle several months ago. She is in a shelter now but says that she is trying to get rid of them.
99% sure is a bedbug. We checked on arrival and saw nothing, just the day before we are leaving we saw this on the floors towel. We reported it and requested a different room for the last night.
Plan is to stay the first night in another hotel instead of going home and taking all our clothes to the laundry store. Is that enough? Anything else we should do? I haven't found any bites. Also the one found had no blood in it.
I'm freaking out and and I do not want yo bring this home. Any other preventative measures?
Hoping writing this on here and getting some feedback will help me fight this mental battle.
9 weeks ago I woke up with a marks all over my back I would say about 10-15 maybe, freaked out a little and checked the room. The following couple days I ended up with about 15 more between my bum and back of thighs. Ended up going to the doctor the following Monday, she thought possible Folliculitis. She put me on an oral antibiotic for 5 days. Everything seemed fine until Oct 21 when I woke up with 1 more on the back of calf. Went back to the doctor and she gave me a topical antibiotic. They seemed to clear up over the next couple weeks, still today 9 weeks later there is hyperpigmentation in some of the spots.
Since Oct 21 I’ve had a few “mark” type things on shoulder and back that seem to disappear after a couple hours from waking up.
During this time I still thought bed bugs, ive steamed, searched, removed items from walls, checked outlets, nothing found.
my mattress was already encased, DE is always down, and feet things on bed(didn’t remove bed from wall) since they are just always on for the last couple years.
Middle of November we had a bed bug dog come out, the report said no evidence of live bugs found.
This past monday, I had another “mark” appear on my upper thigh and it put me into a total mental panic. Went to the doctor and started me on anxiety medication.
Last night my husband daughter and I took the entire room apart, he searched in every possible opening in my medal bed frame, checked closet, dresser, outlets, curtains, curtain rod. He even pulled the baseboards off an inch or so to see in with a flash light. Again no signs found.
I’ve read horror stories on here about people not finding any signs besides bites for 4/5/6/7 months. Someone just posted about taking a year to find one. Or that they never even saw a poop spot.
Is this true??? Would it really take that long to show up???
Any helpful words or guidance would be appreciated. I just want my life to go back to normal and I don’t know how to do that if we possibly missed them in our many searches.
Early this week, my partner and I went to go visit his family. We got a cheap room at the local hotel and we both royally screwed up and forgot to do a bed bug check. I know. We're idiots. But after our second night there, the morning before we check out, I happen to find a small tiny bug and you guessed it, it was a baby bed bug. We checked the bed after the fact and saw no evidence of bed bugs, besides 1 lone adult. Neither of us had any obvious bites.
So we panicked, did a lot of internet searching and went and bought some thick bags that we sealed everything up in and doused our clothes in rubbing alcohol. We traveled back to our home town and left almost everything sealed in the bags in the car. We both stripped everything in the mudroom and it all went straight into a bag that was sealed. Which then was immediately dumped into the washer with hot water and then into the dryer on high for an hour and the bag was thrown away outside. We did take our bathroom stuff and a few other non fabric items into the apartment. It was all sealed in a bag and we unpacked it all outside, wiped everything down with rubbing alcohol. I then vacuumed the whole floor and emptied the cannister outside in the dumpster.
We still have quite a bit to wash and sort through, which we will eventually get to, I've just been scared to open those bags and unlease the hellish beasts. But please offer me some reassurance for now. We're still going to get some traps to set up near our main furniture, our beds and the couch and just the high traffic areas in the apartment. The car also needs a deep clean but I will be able to steam the car and Vacuum everything and wipe as much down as possible. In the meantime, its been below freezing where we live but I know thats less effective than the heat. Please, any advice or reassurance would be amazing, I keep going back to googling but it's just the same information at this point.
i am genuinely so anxious and depressed dealing with bed bugs for the past month. i originally thought i was breaking out in hives, after weeks of welts on my body i learned it was bed bugs and just knowing i was sleeping with bugs feasting on my while i slept makes me feel so disgusting. now i’m sleeping on a cot, my room is wreck, and i’m living out of bags and bins. i feel things crawling on me all the time, i anxiously check all my clothes and surroundings. i religiously dry every piece of clothing i wear on high heat before putting it on, even if it’s been washed and sealed. i even blow dry my hair every night in hopes that if there’s anything in my hair, it’ll die. i haven’t been sleeping so well, my appetite has gone down and i’m dealing with headaches all day. i have ocd and i feel like this is going to be sitting with me for a while, i don’t know how long until i’ll trust my bed again. i’m having a heat treatment on december 18th though! had someone look at my apartment this morning so he could schedule it. i am just miserable but don’t want to keep complaining to my partner about it, so i’m ranting here.
Just signed the lease on a triplex it’s the third unit in the building. My middle neighbor introduced herself and just told me the first unit has bad bedbugs and roaches. It kinda freaked me out. Is there anyway to prevent them? It’s an old building so not sure on the vents and pipes and stuff.
Hi. Pest control has just provided the second treatment, two weeks after the first one. Even after the second treatment, which was 14 days after the first, I have found an adult bed bug and two nymphs. The next day, I found another third-instar bed bug. Is there something wrong? Is the pesticide even working? How long will these sightings continue?
The pest control technician said he could not find any bed bugs when he sprayed, emphasizing that the infestation is mild. I threw the source right after I discovered it had bed bugs long ago. But how is it that even after 14 days, I am still finding bed bugs?
I posted on this sub a couple of days ago, but now I’m even more confused than I was before…
Basically, I was at work (I’m a personal assistant so I work at someone’s home) sitting at the kitchen table, my purse was sitting on the table next to me. at the corner of my eye I saw something crawling on my bag and noticed that it was a bedbug (I know for a 100% fact that it was a bedbug) I picked it up with a piece of toilet paper and flushed it down the toilet. Then I left shortly after that.
After that I was very worried so I called pest control to come do an inspection at my house, I thought that because the bedbug was on MY purse that must mean it came from my house. Pest control came the next morning and didn’t find any evidence of bedbugs. I even had them check my car.
So the next step was for me to get an inspector over to my boss’s house. They went over there today, and now my boss is saying they didn’t find any evidence of bedbugs at his house either, they did find carpet beetles, but not bedbugs…
Where did this bedbug come from? Is it possible for there to only be one bedbug? I’m so confused, I’ve never heard of that happening. Is it possible the inspector missed something?
I found this, it came off of my cat. I think it's a shed skin or some sort of skin that came off of my cat. I am really nervous right now. I've been dealing with bed bugs.
I've been using an app and it came back with four results: Subterrean Eastern Termite, Bed bug, Rice Weevil and no insect found.
