Thoughts on this OzBargain Deal through AUFirstBlood?

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/871824

It's pretty much the lowest price you can get for these components.

 • MSI 4080 Super
 • AMD R7 7800X3D
 • 32gb DDR5 RAM CL30
 • Free Shipping
 • MSI $225(US) Steam Card

Building myself from somewhere like Scorptec would cost between $3300-$3600.

Seems like a local Vic company, near Scorptec. Decent reviews, a lot of Chinese clientele (not infering anything, just observation due to language used in reviews). Not a great deal of recent reviews but it seemed they just moved location and re-setup?

Good L/corner desk recommendations

Moving into a new place, going to need a new desk as current is in built. I would like something that looks at least decently nice and not like cheap office furniture from the 90s/00s.

Current in built desk is quite large, ideal dimensions for new desk would be around 170-180cm long desk length, 150-160 for short side length (both from wall to end), depth 80cm (long side, short side can be ~60cm) height ~70cm. I'm not sure if that's realistic without getting something custom built or in built.

Ikea has Mittzon desks, which two together should be close to this, but I feel the legs might be annoying and a little unsightly.

This might be close but doesn't seem great value. Not sure what else is out there. Also would like one set of drawers underneath or drawers I can put underneath.

this might be perfect

Does standing desk 110cm X 75cm exist? Looking for recommendation.

Hello,

I have a small study, exactly 120cm wide, so desk needs to be <120cm. Currently I have the cheapest IKEA 100x60cm desk in there, however with laptop and ultra wide monitor, there is no room for elbows to rest.

I'm looking for a small standing desk, that would have more depth. Something like 110cm X 75cm.

All of the 110cm desks seem to be 60cm depth max. If there are no such options on the market, I'm thinking of buying legs and desk top separately and custom cutting a desk top somewhere.

I don't think bunnings does custom cuts of desk tops though.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

Prebuilt pc from umart

Hi I'm looking to get a 7800x3d pc build and was going to build it myself as it is normally cheaper. I came across this build and doesn't seem that much cheaper then buying the parts separately

https://www.umart.com.au/product/cyberblaze-g7-core-ryzen-7-7800x3d-rx-7800-xt-gaming-pc-56072-75733

Has anyone brought a rebuilt from umart before? Why is it a competitive price to individual parts?

Ik of the 7800x3d price increases recently but need a pc asap and want it in my build

Nebula / Gala for prebuild? Or used some of my hardware and buy the remaining pieces?

I've got a 2TB hd and a 1tb SSD plus a 1200 watt PSU and a monitor.

I went looking around at buying the parts to build a whole computer out of everything and then I found Nebula and Gala off ozbargains selling whole PC's for less than the pieces I was looking at. Granted the ram and PSU and a few things are pretty trash. But a few hundred here and there to upgrade on their package deals.

Is it smarter to just sell my hardware and buy a whole build now?

Melamine or Hardwood for standing desk? How is your experience?

Not sure if it is the right sub but looking for advice for standing desk for pc

I am looking to buy standing desk but I am confused between melamine and hardwood for desk top.

I am thinking about UpDown Desk PRO Series Pheasantwood Standing Desk with 10 yr motor warranty and 10 year frame warranty but it is so costly around $1,344.00AUD for 150 cm desk. (Almost around price of a new OLED monitor).

Another option is Ergo-Rise II Dual Motor Sit Stand Desk has melamine pressed laminate with 5 year motor warranty and 15 year frame warranty which is going to cost $767 AUD.

One more option is Desky Dual Melamine Sit Stand Desk Laminated Top and Bottom with MDF Core with 10 yr (frame + motor) warranty for $975

BrandWood typeWarrantyMotorSize (cm)Lifting CapacityPrice

Bdo Furniture
Ergo-Rise II Dual Motor Sit Stand Deskmelamine pressed laminateFrame -15 years
Motor - 5 yearDual1500 W x 750 mm120 kg$767

Is melamine good for long term use? is it going to survive the daily use (8 hours +)? How is your experience?
I am not sure if I should splurge this much money for a desk

New PC after 5+ years - $1500-2000 budget. 32GB RAM 2TB SSD necessary?

Hey!

I'm looking at investing in a new 2K or less PC, I've scoured the ozbargain but I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for the components that matter the most - I guess I have a few questions.

 1. Is 32gb ram a good investment?

 2. Is 2TB SSD important particularly if you have your OS on it? Do R/W speeds impact this? Is it cheaper to just have an external for proper storage?

 3. I heard and saw some people mentioning about future proofing with an AM5 is that a good investment?

I kind of just want a PC to get me through some run of the mill gaming, small streaming maybe without any issues for the next 3-4-5 years at the least.

Should I wait for better deals closing in around the end of the year or will things go up?

Appreciate any help!

$4k budget for pre-built gaming PC?

Hi All, I recently started getting back into gaming. I used to build my own gaming PCs when I was a teenager (remember when GeForce 4 was the best GPU?!). I would be using it mostly for playing FPS and RPG games and maybe some work (cybersecurity). I don’t have time to build my own again so I’m keen to buy one ready-made. My budget is approx 3.5-4k. I was leaning toward Intel but I’ve seen some commentary saying AMD’s currency is longer-lasting, i.e. it doesn’t become obsolete as fast as Intel systems. If you were me, what would you get? I was looking at both these systems from Techfast: https://ozb.techfast.com.au/products/AMD-Ryzen-7-7800X3D-RTX-4080-16GB-Gaming-Desktop And https://ozb.techfast.com.au/products/Gaming-PC-Intel-Core-i9-14900KF-RTX-4080-super-16GB-DDR5-Desktop-OCT If you think I should get one of these, what parts should i upgrade in the options? Or should i just go with CentreCom and a solid PCPartPicker list?

Thank you! 🙏

Buying my first pc

I’m on the lookout for a pc, though I’m not entirely sure what I should be looking for in terms of specs as I’m not very tech-oriented. I’m currently undertaking post-grad qualifications in cybersecurity, and occasionally tackling FreeCodeCamp modules in my spare time. Though I’m yet to start the more technical aspects of my degree, I know that I’ll be required to do some lab work using Metaploitable2, Kali Linux etc. in the near future. My budget is roughly $1500 AUD, and I plan on using it mostly for university and some occasional gaming (roughly 80/20, I have an Xbox Series X so I’m not too focused on the gaming side of things, but would appreciate it if it could run WoW etc).

While I realise this isn’t on sale, so far I’ve found this: https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/ready-to-run-pcs/home-&-office-pc/108331-r2r10227?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADsuegP0M6AyD5riBd8jAs-4VNhVI&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIyPG0o7KMiQMVB_U8Ah00SwAeEAQYAiABEgLp7PD_BwE

Any thoughts on how it might perform long term and whether it would be suitable? Open to any suggestions, thanks!

Planning to get a prebuilt PC and looking for a good delivery time and PC aesthetic for my specs

I'm trying to get a prebuilt PC with a 4080 Super, a 7800x3d, and 32GB RAM with 1TB SSD. I'm basically just wondering if anyone had a particular website that I could find this kind of build on. Price isn't too much of a concern for me, I have a budget of $4000 and maybe willing to go over that for the right thing, but I'm having trouble finding a PC with these specs that also looks quite good aesthetically. Just wondering if anyone had an idea of where I should look as I've already looked at places like Aftershock (too overpriced for the specs based on other websites I've searched), Scorptech, and PC Case Gear. A smaller form factor would also be appreciated.

4070 Super Price range

Hey there !
Havent been in the PC parts scene for a while. I am looking to get an 4070 Super and I was wondering whats the usual price range I should look out for. I doubt I will be discounted that much this Black Friday but what do you guys reckon is a nice price point?

Also do the brands matter that much these days?

Lenovo's laptop deals

Heya

I noticed the Lenovo website has deals on it's laptops... Like 35% off for some of them, but the prices are still high.

I'm just wondering are these "constant deals"... Whereby it's just how Lenovo markets it's products on it's website and they are available all year round. Or is it a legitimate sale for the month of October?

And is there any way to stack further discounts? I asked a Lenovo rep if I could get a laptop cheaper and they said the laptop was already priced with the best discounts.

An example is the Legion 7i here for $3000 down from $4400 but not sure how legit that original price is as it's crazy high: https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/laptops/legion-laptops/legion-7-series/legion-7i-gen-9-16-inch-intel/83fdcto1wwau1

I'm out of the loop, what happened to AMD GPUs?

I'm looking to spend warranty refund money as my 3080ti died, I'm looking at my local PC store PLE and they only have 7 AMD GPUs listed.

None are high end, but there's a million Nvidia GPUs available instead?

Haven't had an AMD GPU in over 15 years and since I'm looking at going AM5 I was sorta looking forward to having an all AMD PC again.

Mini ITX Build

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2RKmVW

Hello - wanting advice on this Mini ITX Build. What is a part I can replace for cheaper?

The parts I've chosen are a conjunction of other people's completed builds. I am very new to building but as a long time mac user so any advice is appreciated. With this being my first PC build I just want this to be in the best shape where I won't need to upgrade it for a long time where I have the option to play a variety of games.

If there is anyway I can make this build cheaper please help ! At the moment on Scorptec these parts are looking to be ~3.5k and I would like to stay within the 2-2.5k mark.

Thanks :)

Pre-Built PC - PLE

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of venturing into a more high end setup without going through too much hassle with building one myself.

 1. Become I'm lazy

 2. if anything does happen I can fall back on warranty

 3. PLE is local so it's easily accessible in case something happens

What i want to know is if the below PC looks ok for the price, I'm not looking for the most cost efficient, i just don't want to pay an extra 1k if I have to for example.

https://www.ple.com.au/Products/668765/ple-royal-4080-super-prebuilt-ready-to-go-gaming-pc

Hoping for at least a 4080s with a AMD 7 7800X3D.

Happy to give up on the idea of local and go with one of the other online builders like scorptec, mwave etc if the cost is that much less with them.

Thanks!

$600ish PC tower with future expansion?

G'day all, I hope you're all doing well.

Long story short, I'm returning to Aus by the end of the week (I work in a different country), until the end of October. The RTX 3070 laptop I bought 5 years ago is on the way out, so I want to build/buy a $600-800 computer tower when I'm back in Australia and leave it at my place. I am coming back to Australia for good in January, at which point I will be using it again as a basis to add better parts to.

While I'm back in Aus, I'll be using it for work and light gaming (V Rising and Space Marine 2 mostly).

What would people recommend?

Thanks for any advice and have a great week!

Upgrade from R5 3600?

Thinking about taking advantage of the AM4 upgradeability. Currently gpu is a 6700xt

Just looking at pcpartpicker, we have:

 • 5600 at $155

 • 5800x at $220 (!) on amazon right now

 • 5700x at $240

The x3ds i heard so much about are unfortunately still pretty dear, at $350 and $499 for 5700x3d and 5800x3d respectively

Any advice and recommendations welcome. Cheers!

Dell S2721DGF

Anyone know where to buy the Dell S2721DGF these days?

I have 2, but want another one to make a triple monitor setup for my sim rig.

Can’t find any for sale, FB marketplace, gumtree, ebay (there’s one but seller isn’t responding), nothing.

Does anyone know if I just get another 1440p IPS Dell monitor, will the image match the other 2 monitors that I have?

Thanks!

Computer Build Advice

Hi All

My 2019 build is struggling to support my 1440p monitor these days and would like to invest in the next 5 years.

I think I'm eyeing something on the level of a 4080 Super / 4070Ti Super as they seem to strike the best value for the upper end.

What I'm not sure about is what to build around it and the question of going pre-built vs self-built?

Budget 2500-ish, used primarily for gaming.
