Hello, I have an 08 Toyota bB (Japanese car) with the k3-ve 4-cylinder vvt-i engine. I had a locksmith come by to program a key and ever since the car hasn’t started but it was starting fine and even driving before he arrived that same day. I am getting crank but no start and no spark at all to any of the plugs. Changed crank and cam sensors, spark plugs and coils but still same issue. I also had another locksmith and two mechanics look at it but they couldn’t find the issue. I changed the ecu today and still no changes. I did look at the board for the old ecu and it had a damaged/cracked/burnt transistor. Tomorrow I intend to try putting the same transistor from the old ecu in and hope it works. If anyone has any other suggestions in all ears.. Thank you.
So I was recently given my grandfathers 07 Chevy Silverado 1500 because he was told the frame is rusted out so bad it shouldn’t be driven. My grandparents are to old and have to many physical limits that they just don’t want to deal with it. I currently have a 2010 Chevy suburban 1500 that doesn’t really have any major issues and about 230,000 miles so I use that as my daily driver. The 07 Chevy only has 70,000 miles put on it so it feels like a waste to part out or junk the whole vehicle. GM doesn’t sell frames for the 07 anymore so I can’t just replace the frame. I was thinking maybe buying a roller vehicle and just putting the engine to good use? Or seeing if a welder can fix up any weak spots in the frame? I don’t have enough background knowledge in mechanics to understand if I’m wasting time or if I could end up with a pretty decent car with low miles so I’m just putting this out there to see what the pros think! I do have mechanics and welders in my immediate family so resources/tools/labor aren’t as big of a hurdle for me as most.
Hello all, I’m new to working on old vehicles and I’m trying to restore an old truck. The truck has been sitting for several years and we figured the motor might be locked up. It will turn about half a rotation when you put a breaker bar on the crank shaft but won’t go any further in either direction. What should I try/do next ? Thanks in advance.
