Alcohol Sting Operations

Hello Reddit Users,

What do you all think of when policemen send teenagers to stores, gas stations, and restaurants to attempt to buy alcohol just to see if the establishment is complying with the law by checking IDs and not selling alcohol to those under 21. The is commonly known as a sting operation.

I live in Brooksville, FL (a suburb of Tampa, FL) and in the state of FL (a.k.a. the snow-free state), in order to participate in a sting operation, you must meet these 2 requirements:

1. You must be either 14, 15, 16, or 17 years old.

2. You must be a high school student.

Smirnoff Vodka is absolutely the best Vodka so far

It has such a crisp taste and doesn't have much burn and goes down so easily. But of course it leaves my mouth a bit numb and sore. What do you think?

Have you guys ever tried this? This is fiiire omg

I'm not sure if it's available outside of Canada, but wow—this is something else. Unlike vodka, which can taste like nail polish, this has a bold flavor, but in the best way. It's an herbal-based alcohol, and you can really taste the herbs. The first time I tried it, it felt like tasting the forest!

The more I drink the more sober I get

I don’t drink often maybe once in 3 months. But when I do I don’t get drunk. Today I was drinking 5 wine and 3 tequila , but I’m not even tipsy. I’m more sober then when I’m sober. Why is alcohol not affecting me and who has the same thing?

Am I considered an alcoholic?

Am I an alcoholic? I don’t drink normally. But I like to party with different friends. Maybe once a week, maybe 3 times a week. Craziest I did was 7 days in a row some time in late November.

When I party I will go from anywhere between 5-6 gin tonics (which isn’t much for me), to something like 2 bottles of red wine at dinner of 2 and 7-8 cocktails after plus 2-3 more beers after.

Usually if I drink too hard I feel it the next day and can’t wake up til 4pm. I’m 39 male.

Why does pear spirit taste so ethanolic?

To be specific it was a Williams pear spirit from a high quality brand it wasn't very strong but ethanolic like hand sanitizer is it just the brands fault or are all pear spirits like that

I Tried Something New: A Drinking Game App

Hey everyone,

I created a simple drinking game app purely as a fun experiment—no ads, subscriptions, or gimmicks involved. Just a little side project made for some extra fun with friends. I’d love to hear your honest feedback and any ideas you have. Thanks for checking it out!

Why do I throw up instead of getting drunk?

I’ve never been drunk in my life. No matter how much I drink, I just end up throwing up instead of getting drunk. I really want to experience what being drunk feels like. Why does this happen, and is there any way to avoid it?

Edit : For example, a few days ago, I drank 4 beers and 2 glasses of whiskey over the course of two hours, and then I vomited.

If I Could Edit the Drinking Age

Hi there all Reddit users,

Here in the USA, we all know the drinking age is 21. I think it is super crazy that between the ages of 18-20, you can get killed in war but cannot enjoy a simple glass of beer. Well, I have a proposed solution to allow teenagers as young as 14 drink alcohol.

If you're as young as 14, during the summer after middle school and before high school (summer before 9th grade), you can obtain a drinking permit. However, there may be confusion; if you turn 14 between September and May during the 8th grade, you must wait until the summer before 9th grade to get this drinking permit, as we do not want any alcohol in middle school. However, if you turn 14 during the summer before 9th grade, then you must wait until the day of your 14th birthday (i.e. if you turn 14 on July 22, then you must wait until July 22 to obtain permit).

Either way, in order to obtain this drinking permit, you first must take these 3 special courses:

  1. Dangers of Drinking and Driving: In this course, you will learn how alcohol affects your judgement, the legal BACs per state, how a breathalyzer works, and what happens when a policeman stops you for a suspected DUI, and the consequences of a car accident due to drunk driving (especially if someone is hurt or killed). Also, you will learn how many drinks it takes to affect your judgement and coordination.
  2. How Alcohol Affects Your Body: In this course, you will learn how alcohol affects your brain and your liver, and how many drinks it takes to affect your judgement, and the difference in alcohol content between beer, wine, and liquors (i.e. vodka, rum, tequila) and how much it takes to get drunk off each of the 3.
  3. Drinking During Pregnancy: In this course, you will learn how alcohol affects a fetus/embryo during pregnancy and the different types of birth defects caused by drinking alcohol during pregnancy.

If you pass these courses with a 90% or higher (passing would normally be 80%, but since alcohol is a very serious thing, I raised the passing score to 90%), you can obtain a drinking permit. In order to take these 3 courses, you must be 14 or older and should have already graduated middle school; if your parents want you to wait until you're 15, then it's their decision. There are 2 restrictions with this permit; you can only drink beer and wine ONLY (liquors NOT allowed) and if you want to drink at a bar or restaurant, you must have someone 21 or older be with you.

You then must hold onto this permit for either 2 years or until your 18th birthday, whichever comes first (i.e. if your parents do not let your get a drinking permit until you are 16.5, then you would only need to wait 1.5 years as 2 years afterwards you'd be 18.5 years old). After either these 2 years or your 18th birthday, you can get a drinking license. With this drinking license, you can drink beer, wine, and liquor and there is only 1 restriction; if you're under 18 and want to drink at a bar or restaurant, you must have someone 21 or older be with you.

You then must hold onto this license until your 21st birthday. After your 21st birthday, you no longer need this license in order to drink. You are free to drink without a drinking license. This all means that if you're under 21 and only have a drinking permit, then you must show your permit when purchasing alcohol and cannot purchase liquor. However, if you're under 21 and have a drinking license, you must show that license when purchasing alcohol.

Let me know what you all think about this proposed solution for drinking.

Would I be ok to take a 2mg diazepam (Valium) go out drinking?

I’m anxious about meeting some people tonight so I thought about taking a diazepam a couple of hours before that. I don’t drink a tonne either. I’ve never taken both together. Would it be ok as it’s such a low dose and for 1 time only?

February 1?

So, here’s a question about something I’m generally curious about out. Please only answer if you did Dry January.

If you did Dry January, then did you greet February with a Bloody Mary or Mimosa first things this morning? Perhaps a coffee with Bailey’s or even. Show beer?

Again, I’m genuinely curious.

Suddenly I’m unable to drink anywhere near what I was drinking a week ago?

Hey guys so I have been drinking heavily every day for the last 3 years maybe 8-14 beers every night (sometimes pints). I recently went out with my co workers and got very drunk to the point I was throwing up from 11AM-7:30PM the next day. I got over my hangover and now when I try to drink I can only have maybe 3 beers before I start feeling very sick and almost gagging trying to finish the last one. This has been going on for the last week or so and I kind of like it but I have no idea why I can’t drink like I used to anymore?

Getting sick after sips

I’m just gonna get straight to the point. After I sip on some alcohol for a while, it starts to make me nauseated. You may say, “Yes, people often feel nauseated when consuming alcohol” but I am not referring to the nausea that comes with being too drunk. I simply cannot get the alcohol down. I took zoloft and it lowered my tolerance and whenever I drank it was easier to get down, but now that I’m off the medication I can barely drink again. Any advice? I’m not getting a runny nose or rashes, it just makes me sick to drink. If I try to chug something especially, sometimes that can even push me to the point of vomiting. I just can’t seem to drink alcohol like other people can. What’s the deal?

Best Pickle Juice Chaser to Buy

Anyone else use pickle juice to chase liquor (specifically tequila)? I’ve been doing it for a while now but I typically I have to buy a jar with pickles with the juice. Anyone have a good recommendation for just the juice?

Hard liquor or spirits is better than beer or wine

With hard liquor, you feel the effects of booze right away with just a couple shots as opposed to having to drink 3 or 4 cans of beer. As someone who drinks alcohol to feel the effects and “not for the taste”, I like to get straight to the point. I want to feel the effects of alcohol as quickly as possible without having to consume unnecessary carbohydrates or sugars. Also, hard liquor gives me a better buzz since it does not have a lot of sugar like beer or wine. Usually alcohol with a lot of sugars gives me a headache. Hard liquor is also the drink that you can enjoy at room temperature without having to refrigerate, unlike beer.

I also find wine to be unnecessarily sour, and having to savor it makes me not want to drink it. At least with hard liquor, you swallow it right away.

Either this is bullshit or I have an amazing tolerance.

I already know I’m a heavyweight but I’d say on the drunk scale I only feel tipsy, I’m not sloshed or anything.

app to visualize drinking habits

Hi, I built a little app to help me visualize my drinking habits. Would anyone be willing to try it out (if so, please DM me). This is my first time creating an app and just wanted to make something to help myself and learn how to build an app in the process. I can add more stuff based on feedback if anyone is willing to try it out! Thanks. It is completely free!
