New to following the AHL closely, seems to be a tournament between the 4 divisions, who plays who?
I was wondering if there was going to be a fan fest this year. I went to last year's and there was but I can't find anything about this year
If only it was February 2nd instead of 1st....
My son was wondering if it’s worth it to bring a stick or puck for candy sign to the allstar skills comp
I got tickets for my son for the Providence Bruins game against Rochester last night we lucked out and got an upgrade that (among other things) put us next to the player tunnel behind the Americans bench. My son ended up getting a broken stick from the trainer in the second and he asked if he could get it signed. After the game Jobst came out and signed the blade for him which was awesome!
Anyways my question is since the stick snapped halfway up, is it worth it to have it repaired or is it better to leave it as is. For reference it’s still in one piece and snapped about halfway up the shaft.
Is anyone else having trouble accessing it tonight? The app on my TV keeps telling me there is not an internet connection, and my phone just keeps me in an endless loop of attempting to login.
I have to get this off my chest: the AHL, as a product, is absolutely horrendous. For a league that is supposed to be one of the top 2-3 leagues in the world in terms of skill level, the overall experience is embarrassingly subpar.
First off, information is ridiculously hard to find. Team websites are awful—most of them feel like they were built in the early 2000s and never updated. For example, player rosters are often just static lists, and you can’t even click on a player’s name to see their season stats like goals, assists, or even basic plus-minus numbers. It’s absurdly frustrating.
The AHL’s own website isn’t any better—it’s outdated, clunky, and feels like the league doesn’t care about being accessible or interactive. For a league that feeds into the NHL, the difference in product quality is staggering. It’s almost laughable how much better European leagues, like Liiga or SHL, are in terms of online presence, fan interaction, and overall professionalism.
As a hockey fan living in Finland, this is especially disappointing. Many players from here go to North America to chase their dreams, and their journey often begins in the AHL. Yet following them in the AHL feels like pulling teeth. Sure, if they make it to the NHL, everything becomes easier to follow, but the gap in quality between the two leagues’ “products” is both shocking and borderline absurd.
The AHL has so much potential, but they’re squandering it. A league of this caliber shouldn’t feel like a forgotten afterthought in terms of its presentation and fan experience. They need to step up, big time.
Does anyone else feel the same way?
I'm not complaining about unfair officiating here (that would be a MUCH longer post - lol). I'm a Bears STH who's missed a few games recently for various reasons, but follow along as much as I can.
I've noticed a couple calls recently which are pretty out of sorts for the Bears and wondered if the league is cracking down in some ways:
There were two recent calls for abuse of officials - I don't think I've seen that called at all, but almost positive never against a Bears player in 10 yrs as a STH. (Again, I'm not saying it may not have been justified, as I didn't see it, but it seems odd to have it called twice in about a week)
Last night, Sgarbossa got called for Unsportsman Like - 2 minute minor for chirping. I can't say I've ever seen a 2-min unsportsmanlike for chirping before either.
Anyone have any insight into similar things happening elsewhere? Or is this just an odd coincidence of Bears behaving badly.
I am just interested in prices across the AHL. Please throw your team down below!

I go to Bridgeport Islanders hockey games. I notice some fights are broken up immediately while others barely have a chance to start. Does it depend on the referees? Are their rules? It's my understanding the gloves dropped ones have an etiquette. For the other fights sometimes they go on and sometimes the refs jump in.
I also noticed that the fights are less fighty. LOL. When I started going in either 2016 or 2017 there were definitely more fights and tougher ones at that.
