Here we talk about weapons that could be used in a zombie apocalypse.
/r/ZAWeapons is for discussion on weapons to be used during the Zombie Apocalypse.

Okay, while I was in college I used a big rolling backpack and once a luggage case for a backpack. I figured I could fill it with cans and use it as a weapon (for disabling zombies/bashing in heads).
Any other ways something like this could potentially be used as a zombie-destroying weapon?
Nick Thomas who is a master swordsman and author of “Zompoc: How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse” just posted a video to his fencing channel offering his opinion on the best type of hand weapons to use in a Zombpocalyse: some great pull quotes!
“The rapier just sucks…it does look cool though.”
“How many people get bitten in the hands by zombies? A lot.”
“…you could dual-wield, because that’s the kind of thing that gets you going.”
“The zombies, hopefully, aren’t armed.”
“It might look the way an Orc would build a Katana”
Very entertaining, and educational

I may or may not post a tutorial.
One of my favourite weapons i have made is a warhammer. I am going to explain on how to make it.
Tools and Materials
This warhammer is made from 2 small wooden planks, a large screwdriver, electrical tape and paracord. the tools you will need is a file, matches or a lighter, scissors, a small spring clamp and optionally a vice.
Instructions
First press the two planks together and fit the screwdriver in between the planks on one end and clamp it tight. Grab your electrical tape and going round and round connect the planks together with the tape until you reach the the clamped screwdriver. carefully tape around the screwdriver keeping the planks tight around it. Then keep taping on the base of the screwdriver blade and base of the screwdriver handle slowly tightening the planks grip on the screwdriver. Now you have the basic warhammer, the paracord is optional but recommended. Take a reasonably long length of paracord and cut it off, burn the end with the exposed nylon strands inside to keep it from fraying and being pulled out. place one end of the paracord about 5-15 cm from the bottom end of the warhammer and tape it tight, carefully and tightly rap around the handle till the cord is finished or long enough then tape the end tightly. Then Optionally you can file the handle to be more comfortable or the screwdriver head to be more pointy. And you're DONE!But yes, id like to point out that you can use other means such as glue or epoxy to connect the planks and screwdriver together, but i made this creation as a very simple, cheap and easy way of creating a makeshift warhammer. I like to call this warhammer a 'Screwhammer'.
Pictures of the 'Screwhammer' i made. (Sorry about the shitty camera)
Thx
i read many of the posts here and they are all fantastic. but for the past 6 months it has been dead. is anyone from this subreddit alive?
Easy enough to make and it looks like it would be very effective and quite durable.

What are your opinions on cricket/baseball bats? Personally, I think cricket bats are too heavy to be a good weapon, but a good baseball bat would swing pretty quickly. As for breaking, Cold Steel manufactures a polypropylene bat that's pretty unbreakable, you can smash cinder blocks with it no problem, I'm looking to buy one one day. Is it worth it?
The Mossberg 590s come equipped with bayonet lugs, as well as a magazine cap fitted for modern US bayonets. (870s have the fitted cap, but a lug is extra) Here's my argument, Carry a long gun with a bayonet, and your primary and melee options are the same. Plus, you can always use the bayonet as a regular knife.

Springfield M1 Garand
Ammo Load: 10x 8rnd clips of .30-06SPRG.
Heavy wood stock, easy to use as a last resort/melee weapon. Downsides are that it is a relatively heavy weapon. This is not the best weapon of the collection due to the heavier recoil of the 30 cal and due to the heavier weight overall.
Ammunition may be harder to come by as well.

Colt AR15 with 20" HBAR
Ammo Load: 7x 20rnd Magazines and 6 stripper clips of 5.56mm Nato.
Built into a long range precision weapon. Perfectly accurate out to ~400m, and very low recoil make this a great weapon for longer distances and cover. Due to the nature of the sights, this rifle would not be primarily used in CQC, but has 45* sights for emergency close range work. Zeroed at 100m.

Remington 870 Tactical
Ammo Load: 13 shells handy (6+1 loaded, 6 on side saddle), 24 reserve (12 slugs, 12 buckshot) on vest.
The typical shotgun, with dedicated Surefire forend and tactical stock. Great for CQC, handy in a pinch for mid ranges with slugs in the tube. Lightweight, easy to operate. Still requires aiming and knowledge of proper use to be effective. DO NOT USE BIRDSHOT.

Mosin-Nagant
Ammo Load: 12x 5-rnd Stripper Clips, 40 loose rounds.
A decent backup gun, and battle tested, though it is limited in ammo capacity. Can be fast to reload from stripper clips or using single rounds, ammo can be hard to come by. If this is a primary weapon, stock up ammo quickly, since 7.62x54R is not a hugely common cartridge. Great to use with a bayonet, as the spike type is nearly guaranteed not to get stuck.

Beretta M9
Ammo load: 3x 15rnd 9mm Luger magazines.
Large and heavy for a handgun, it translates into low recoil which means effective followup shots. It also uses a very common caliber of ammunition in the 9mm Luger, so rounds are going to be more plentiful. The capacity is decent, though modern handguns have far eclipsed this mark. A good choice for rugged dependability, be sure to stock at least a new locking lug as this is the part that seems to fail on the Beretta 92/m9. Parts for the M9 are also interchangeable with 92FS.
Blade (Katana or Wakizashi)
Ammo Load: N/A
Always have a blade of some sort available. Small and lightweight Wakizashi style is a good choice for a backup, but carry the full length Katana for a primary.
As with anything, make sure you TRAIN WITH YOUR WEAPONS. KNow their limits, know their strengths and weaknesses.
My primary loadout is the AR (with the upper swapped to a mid length), the M9 and a combat knife. I am proficient with the firearms but need to train on a knife. My reasoning behind this is that magazines and loose ammo will be more plentiful for the 5.56 and 9mm, and fallen National Guard and Military should have parts to scavenge.
Which would be better? Personally I would say axe because it has a lot more uses. From chopping wood to breaching a door. What are your thoughts
