XSRs are not merely a revival of an ancestor or simply vintage-inspired. Each model pays tribute to an iconic motorcycle and design from the company’s rich history, while at the same time offering performance minded riders the very latest engine and chassis technology.

Not sure if I got ripped off but between the service for my MT03 and xsr900, they charged for 3x the amount of oil as the MT03. Does the xsr need 3x the amount of oil because the engine cc size is 3x the amount of the MT?
I googled and it seems like not even double for volume. Found it strange.
I’m buying a ‘24 XSR900 today and I’ve ordered some safety locks (disc lock) and a cover. I’ve got a quad lock as well.
What all other things should I get? What does the community recommend?
Super excited to own this motorcycle!!!
UPDATE: Picked it up and rode it ~75 miles. Such a joy to ride!!! I’m going to get sliders for it. I’m based in California, US. I noticed some folks are recommending sliders from European manufacturers/only sold in Europe.
Hello guys, this is my first post here. I'm new rider, got my full A license this summer.
I'm from EU, did 20h on MT-07 and then got exam, my confusion comes to buying my first bike for next year. I was sold on Triumph 660, but then I've read that you can restrict power on Yamaha XSR 900 and learn this way, then just switch to more HP mode and have my dream bike as first one. Is it doable or am i delulu, and should go with Triumph first? I'll be buying new one and it's only 2000 euro more expensive to get yamaha, which isn't a lot for what you get I think.
I don't want to upset anybody, just asking.
EDIT: Thank you for all the answers, they are really helpful. I have no more doubts and will go with XSR900. Can't wait to join you all
I'm wondering if anyone has detailed pictures of how their clutch cable is routed on the 1st Gen. I noticed a scuff on the left side of lower triple and apparently the clutch cable had been getting pinched every time I turned left. So now I'm questioning whether it's even routed correctly.
Looking for advice I wanted to get a engine guard and a crash bar or slider.
I really liked the Givi one but except the command on this website and they're check for it I can see nowhere if it fits on the 2022 model, everywhere else it says till 2021 https://www.carpimoto.com/en-NL/Bike_Yamaha_XSR900-22-/Specific/Brand_Givi/Mix-Accessories/Guards/46977_TN2128-GIVI-Engine-Guard-for-Yamaha-XSR900.htm
I also see these type of sliders everywhere.
Are they really comparable to crash guards in terms of protection during a drop? I saw some positive stuff about it but Im unsure.
Also would love advice on a good Looking skid plate to Protect the engine from rock chips
Hi guys, I'm selling my XSR900 in Japan. I bouthg a blue legend and then bought and installed the bloodline kit.
The Bloodline kit which was a Japan exclusivity with only ~250 produced, and sold by YSGear. (Check the kit image for the included parts)
If interested, send me a DM with an offer before November 10th.
I can ship it internationally (at your cost) in the original boxes.
What the hell happened, a 6hr windy road run and the tyre centre line is on the steel belts.
The bike is stock, it’s the stock rim and stock tyre from factory.
The tyre just degraded and lost 2 years of life from a simple ride? Last I looked the tyre had tonnes of life on it, didn’t check it when I got back from the last ride, no real reason too. The side walls look practically new and the same still. The bike just clicked over 1 year of life literally this month.
There was no burnouts the whole life of the tyre. The thing is 7000 km older because I’ve been doing longer rides with a bunch of guys for a few months but it’s only used on a commute like 3 or 4 times, I have little cause to use it that way it’s just for fun.
Like since when do tyres spontaneously wear the centre out like that the second warranty year is done. I straight just noticed the centre line is on belts walking past the bike in the garage.
I mean we did a bit of higher speed on the last run, obviously what the bike is easily capable of but nothing like peak top end.
I’m flying to a different state to by the xsr900. It’s a 2020 and had about 4000 miles on it. The same day I’m buying it I’m driving it 8 hours back to where I live. Is there anything I need to get the dealership to check on and make sure it’s good before I make the drive?
My tires are starting to bald out, has anyone had Diablo rosso III’s on the xsr? I’m trying to decide between the latter or Michelin Power 6’s. I liked the s22’s the bike came with but overall the rosso III’s are cheaper than the power 6’s which is making them more appealing at the moment.
Has anyone in recent times installed drag (flat) bars onto their 1st gen XSR900? I used to have a set of Renthal flat bars installed and I was able to re-route the clutch cable no problem. I had swapped them out for a couple reasons, but I recently acquired a set of Rizoma drag bars and decided to throw them on except now I have replaced my clutch cable with the updated part with the 90 degree bend and I cannot get the clutch cable routed without straining it. I can't seem to find much info on this other than getting the FJ-09 cable but I have also read that recently that part number was changed and now those cables also have the 90 degree bend? I would be tempted to get a Motion Pro cable with the older shallow bend but I am afraid of the cable snapping again since that seemed to be a flawed design. Has anyone figured out this problem or know of a cable with no metal sleeve at all?
Some might have seen my earlier post about my dislike for the 2022 version and my love the 16-21 versions. I thought it had mainly to do with the seat, but having found some examples of quite good looking seats I still felt it was off and it still just feels so bulky compared to the earlier versions.
I think the answer might be this middle panel, it kind off binds everything together into a more closed off non naked look. while the 16-21 versions have this really nice looking bar line going from stock.
Sadly I'm not seeing anyone actually customizing this part more than the color, making me think it can't be tempered with, so for anyone that owns the 2022 - 2024 versions, do they come off? if so, how does it look underneath? and would it be possible to modify somehow?
2022 paintover
Got a 2024 XSR and its the first bike I’ve ever owned thats newer than 2005 and Ive never used a quick shifter before.
Kind of a dumb question but sometimes when i quick shift its buttery smooth and sometimes it violently jolts me and the bike. Is there any reason for this like what rpm Im at or how much throttle I’m giving?
Just got a 2017 Abarth delivered. Previous owner fitted straight Rizoma bars and lost or sold the original clubman horns.
I'm quite fond of the original styling and was wondering if anyone has the part number of the OEM bars? I'm gussing it should be B90-F61B0-V0-00, but have so far not been able to verify this. Anyone have a clue?
All,
I have a 2020 XSR900 and I can’t find how to adjust the headlight. I’ve seen in many forums the same issue but none of the instructions matches what I see on mine.
Any help is highly appreciated.
Cheers, George
