First Week impressions of the XSR700

Bike feels amazing, she's pretty quick but my favorite thing about this bike is the simplicity and modern retro feel of the bike. Stock exhaust sounds better than I thought. Still going to replace the exhaust but overall impressions for me was above and beyond. Already got compliments on the bike. This bike is a lot harder to find in the States compared to the MT07 and it's counterparts but overall I would recommend this bike to anyone looking into it.

Givi saddle bag mount fit 2024?

I'm trying to get my girlfriend some Givi saddle bags she's been looking at, but it looks like Givi only supports 2016-2021xsr700's. Is anyone here familiar with the mount system and if we could get it to work on a 2024 model?

Or maybe have suggestions for alternative mount/bags? She's really picky about what she likes, but maybe we can convince her of an alternative that actually works with her bike.

XSR700 recall for defective clutches

It's been posted in other subreddits, but I thought it a good idea to make a separate post here as well. There's a big international recall for CP2 engines in the XSR700, MT-07 and Tenere (and I think the Tracer) across a select range of dates ('22-24 in Australia) and VINs because of a defective clutch. In Australia, you can check for your VIN in the government publication of the recall notice.

My understanding is that a manufacturing problem with the anti-corrosion coating in the clutch plates creates a sludge that prevents the clutch from fully disengaging when the clutch lever is pulled.

In my case, my '24 XSR700 always felt like it was being gently dragged forward when in gear and the clutch lever pulled in. No amount of free play adjustment could eliminate this drag. Fortunately, gently depressing the rear brake was enough to stop the bike. But the defective clutch also affected shifting: when the engine was hot, you couldn't select neutral when stopped unless you blipped the throttle. Likewise, downshifts were very clunky, and sometimes impossible without blipping the throttle.

My dealer just replaced the clutch today and wow, it's like an entirely different, better, bike! All of the drag and shifting issues have disappeared.

Any way to find a 2023 xsr 700 service manual?

I want to do some maintenance on the bike like the chain adjustment and oil change and I was wondering if there’s a service manual that shows the toque spec and what not but my bike didn’t came with one. Is there a pdf or a website that sells it?

XSR700 for a beginner

I was given this bike as a gift from my stepbrother since he knew I was looking to get into riding. Thoughts on this as a beginner bike and any tips or advice?

MPG went form 50 to 40 and I don’t know why.

Hey everyone my 2023 is still stock as far as preference mods go. But after I let my battery die (I left the key in the ignition at my house) the Avg MPG reset and now I’m seeing low 40s instead of low 50s.

I’m starting to worry that my clutch is going out and I’m hoping you guys can tell me if I’m going crazy or if the battery dying can somehow mess up the EFI, IDK please help lol also when I look this up I always see posts about how the transmission slips, can someone explain this?

Aftermarket Exhaust MPGs

I bought my 2020 XSR700 lightly used last year (2k miles on it) with aftermarket SC project full exhaust installed on them and I feel like it does not get the best MPGs. Can a change to the pipes drastically change the MPGs? I feel like one tank of gas doesn't last me all that much distance.

When I searched for the average gas milage for a 2020 xsr700, it was marked as 58 miles per gallon and at 3.7 gallons to fill the tank, that would mean I could go 217 miles without filling up but that is DEFINITELY not the case. Anyone have insight/knowledge/expertise on this?

Update:

JUST checked the MPGs on my bike, and it shows 45. So if I were to fill up the 3.7 gallons (which I feel like I don't generally do), it would be 166.5 MPT. I still feel like this is low, so maybe it is an after market air filter that I don't know about? Anyway, thanks all.

Accessory power socket.

Hi everyone, for last few days I’m happy owner of brand new XSR 700 ;) and I’m wondering if :

  • does it have as Tracer 700 2 x additional power sockets for USB and heated grips?
  • or maybe one additional socket for heated grips only (always with power on) like MT-07?

I want to install heated grips and usb and wondering if I should buy a „double cable with 2 sockets” and if yes what about power is it always on or switch on by key? Thanks for help Łukasz

Rear Sway

Hey everyone, obviously new to riding so sorry if this post is noobish.

I bought a new xsr700 and I've noticed when on the highway around 75-80mph, the rear of the bike starts to sway, just being pushed around. Is the wind kicking my ass that much or is this something to worry about? Thinking about bringing it in for it's 500 mile service, i have about 1k on the bike, just for peace of mind.

I appreciate any feedback
