Anything FZ-09!
/r/FZ09
I just got my ‘15 and I love it so far, but I have not tested my luck hitting the throttle hard because I know how wheelie prone it is. I aspire to know how to ride this bike to its limit, but wheelies seem to be part of its character. That said, any advice managing/modulating wheelies, whether accidental or purposeful? Any advice about wheelies is appreciated as well as any advice about riding this bike hard/tracking it. Thanks!
Vibey edit or zesty?🤔
I see many people talking about how fast and powerful their fz09’s are. “power wheelies in third gear, uncontrollable in A mode, etc.” I have a 2016 fz09, i can’t even power wheelie in 2nd gear. I changed the sprockets, -1 front and +2 rear, to add even more torque and it’s still not the demon machine people claim it to be.
My only theory is that i have so much goddamn torque that my clutch slips, however i never hear it slipping unless i am in 4th gear or higher and accelerate hard at freeway speeds. I never hear it slipping in 2nd or 3rd gear.
What am i missing?
UPDATE: anyone have recommendations for heavy duty clutch springs and clutch?
So I asked a while ago if I should change the sprocket to get more torque and got chewed out. Guess it was a dumb question. Well, what other mods should I do to improve the bike? I figure it’s going to be sitting there all winter. I would like to do something to improve it over the winter rather than just sitting and staring at it. Any suggestions?
Actual suggestions would be nice instead of people just calling me an idiot and saying I’m gonna crash and there can’t wait to see it.
I have a 2016 FZ09 that I am customizing the hell out of over the winter. So far, I got new clutch plates, did the usual like oil, coolant, new clip-on handlebars, and LEDs, but I want to give it more acceleration. I know there’s never a time that I’m going to be able to hit max speed around my small town without having to run from the police, and I really don’t want to be the most wanted in my town, so I figure I can at least let it get up to speed faster.
What gearing does the FZ09 have?
Do I have to gear up or gear down for acceleration?
Are there any sets that people can recommend that would give me the entire sprocket and chains?
Is there anything I should be worried about when changing the sprocket and chain? Like, do I have to dyno it or should I be good right off of the stand?
Sorry if these are really beginner questions. I’m personally still a beginner, only been riding since October, and I have no idea what I’m doing.
Hi everyone, i was riding one day and noticed that my high beam switch was not working. When i push it on (100%) it goes on for 0,5 sec. When i use the pass button it works the whole time. I noticed that when i push the switch and hold it at like 60/70% it stays on. But further than that it turns of again.
Does anyone know what the cause is and how to fix it?
Considering doing the clutch upgrade for my 2015 FZ09 since the riding season just ended where I live. Not sure which route to go and curious to hear from others who have already done it. I am very hard on my bike but am meticulous about taking care of it and this would more or less be a preventative maintenance measure. It currently has around 10-11k miles and I haven't noticed any signs of the clutch slipping but will measure the plates soon. I do wheelie the bike a lot and downshift hard coming into corners but I've never had the rear lock up. I have not used the clutch for wheelies since hearing about how weak the clutch baskets are. Also the FZ has plenty of torque to pull it up in 2nd and then shift gears mid wheelie to ride it out. Being afraid to use the clutch to wheelie due to the fragility of the basket is a little annoying but I don't know if it's worth the $400 billet basket.
Route 1: Extreme Creations billet clutch basket
XSR slipper clutch kit (not sure if the kit from Partshark includes all plates or if additional ones are needed)
Hinson clutch dampers (can't seem to find these anywhere online)
Route 2: Just the XSR slipper clutch kit OEM/Hinson dampers
Route 3: Just replacing the dampers
Can anyone link me to where the Hinson dampers are available?
Looking for clutch kit. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I have new OEM clutch plate kit, clutch basket, oil, oil filter and magnetic drain plug to sell. I'm clearing out my garage and no longer own the bike, but originally purchased it for a 1st gen fz09. Parts should work with any 09 that doesn't have the slipper.
I haven't sold anything on reddit before but am willing to hop on a phone call and send a picture(s). I'm only asking $150 which is really just to cover any shipping and have a nice dinner.
I'm hoping someone here can use the parts and save a bit of cash.
Part numbers:

clutch plate kit - 1RC-W001G-00

I’m trying to get rid of the yellow by next year, but want some inspiration with darker colors. I plan on painting it, so no need to stick with oem colors.
Basically a pic request, if anyone has a blue FZ-09 with "blurple" wheels?
Also, what's the actual paint code for that color?
I'll powdercoat the rims over the winter, but I was thinking of doing something other than black.
Thanks in advance!
Bought her 2 years ago with roughly 25,000km on it. Now she's at slightly over 40,000km.
My 2014 has been sitting for a couple years. It only has about 3500 miles. Bought new in 2014 and it wound up not getting ridden much for a few years. From 2017-18 I put on about 3000 miles and then it was rarely rode until 2021. At the end of 21 it went in storage and just came out. I put a new battery in, oil, filter, plugs. New tires going on tomorrow (still on factory Battle Axes from 2013 🫣) just took it for a little ride and it runs great. Anything I’m missing that I should do to get it in riding shape?
Does anyone know if I can tighten the clutch on my 2015 fx09 ? I’m 350 miles from home and it started slipping
I'm looking at permanently importing at 2019 MT09 from Canada to California and trying to determine if there are differences in manufacture that would result in it needing modifications to be legally registered in the US.
