NOTE: My chat isn’t working, please reply to this post if interested :)
Hey all! I'm Dan. A 26 year old man in London, England, working on two writing projects set in the same world. The main project is a historical fiction with very few fantasy elements, the second - which I'm half way through a first draft on - goes heavy on the fantasy. Both set in post-war Britain.
I wouldn't say it's essential to be a man, but a lot of the themes in my books centre manhood, so it would be great to have a guy I can bat those ideas off of and get the feedback of lived experiences. Preferably 25 years and older also.
I've written a lot academically, and sparingly on my own accord, so the historical fantasy project will be my first complete book. Hopefully the first draft will be finished in March if I keep on with this trajectory.
Currently off work for health reasons, so taking this time to write as much as possible before I start again in the new year as a gallery assistant (which also gives me a fair bit of time to work on writing). And have plenty of time on hand to work with someone on their projects.
Very open to groups as well as one-on-ones. I don't think I'm much of a "sprint/session writer" (although you can write and I can plan or read or whatever haha), but very much open to everything else.
P.S. My reddit chat is being weird (not opening), so send me a reply here as well as giving the chat a go!
I wouldn't mind a few more local writing friends to chat with on occasion, but it seems most groups I can find online are centered in Dublin, and also seem to be largely paid events you can attend. Also in the grand scheme of things it would be nice to talk shop about publishing; I'd imagine British publishing houses would be a common way to go? Let me know if there's any groups your part of that I might have missed. I did find some on Facebook, but I'd rather not use my real account/name just yet, and am avoiding the hassle of setting up a second one for the minute.
Hey everyone, I recently finished my first novel story. I'm unsure whether to continue the MC's journey from the first story or write a separate story but with an overarching narrative set in the same world. The narrative is loosely based on Anime, Western and Indian media such as Baccano, Black Lagoon, My Hero Academia, MCU, DCEU, Unbreakable Trilogy, Gangs of Wasseypur, KGF, Lokesh Cinematic Universe and Raman Raghav 2.0. DM me if you're interested and if your storyline matches with my narrative, I might consider adding it into the world.
I've been writing fiction and nonfiction consistently for almost 5 years. I have one writing partner and have definitely made a lot of progress, but have not published anything yet. I don't have an MFA; I'm a lawyer by day. I really think the main thing lacking for me is more feedback. I've heard from some people on Poets & Writers but they have typically ended up flaking.
Ideally, one or two people per week send their work to the group in advance, and then the piece is workshopped over Zoom. I'm open to suggestions, but I have found that having the person read their work in the Zoom is not a good use of time.
Thoughts? Thanks for reading.
Hi all. I (24f) have wanted to finish a book ever since I was young. The ideas never seem to end, but my motivation sure does.
I have nearly finished draft one of Act One. This is a huge thing because about six months ago, I fully gave up and returned last week to finish. I am pretty surprised that I actually wanted to continue an old story rather than start a new one, and I think that is because I love the concept.
I feel like I need help to strengthen the areas of Act One that I don't like in order to move on to Act Two with excitement, passion, and a clear direction. I have an outline, but it's old and I am not sure if I will continue running with it. I have also gotten some very good writing partners in the past who have helped so so much with reviews, but I feel like I need some fresh eyes and opinions before moving on.
I was an English major and a writing tutor, so I really do enjoy the editing process and would be more than happy to return the favor or help with brainstorming, character development, or anything else a potential writing partner would be looking for.
I write a lot during work (lol, yeah maybe not always the best employee) but sometimes at night or on the weekend as well. I am in EST, but really don't care if we are on at the same time or not as long as we can share content.
DM if interested!
Hello! I am a short fiction writer looking for a writing buddy who writes stuff in my genre of interest! I'm most drawn to magical realism, surrealism, abstract, and absurdist pieces. Aimee Bender is one my favorite authors right now and I also really enjoy authors like Julio Cortazar and Italo Calvino. I'm working on a meta fiction short story/novella (maybe?), and I'm looking for a writing buddy to share my work with, get feedback, and do the same for them.
I'm having a hard time finding another writer locally who gets my writing style because it's unconventional so I'd love to connect with someone who also has an unconventional writing style! Hope I can connect w someone :)
Hi I’m a 22f and I would love to write a middle grade book. And I think it would be fun to write with someone. My writing strengths are plotting, I’m fast when focused, symbolic stuff, dialogue, and sibling dynamics. Dm me if interested.
hello, how's it going. I'm here with the purpose of finding a brainstorm buddy, hopefully one who has experience in screenwriting or pitch bibles, stuff like that but its not required. I been toying with an idea for an animated show, and honestly been struck on it, and a willing ear will be great. if you're interested, send me a message via chat! thank you for your time :)
Hello! I'm looking for a person who is interested in mutually improving their writing together. I have a few activity ideas for more organized writing buddyship:
I'd be happy to hear ideas, and share what we're working on together. I'm focused mostly on mutually beneficial activities that could make it work better, and I'm not looking for a beta-reader or co-writer.
Currently I'm working on fanfic short stories. I do have more serious original works, but it's easy to experiment and improve in front of an audience with fanfic, and it's far more forgiving. I'm also working on programming an interactive fiction engine (it's bad, and early in development. the story's a placeholder, but you can check the spaghetti code in the bundle, it isn't minified or obscured). My dream is eventually is to setup a personal writing website and play around with the UX of digital writing to make it more interesting and presentable for modern readers.
You can DM me, I have discord and now im using bluesky. So what are you working on? And what's your theory on what makes a written story good?
Hello, I am a 15 yo FTM guy…I want to write a story but I don’t have many ideas for it right now…all I know is that I want it to have LGTBQ+ themes in it so please be okay with that! I prefer writing gay love romances so the main couple shall be males.
I’m thinking that maybe the story could be some type of adventure with a bit of fantasy inside? I would like there to be multiple characters and lots of character development and relationships (not limited to romantic. As in different relationships in general)
I plan to write it on google docs but we can start talking on disc first…I also want to include drawing in this somehow since I want to get better! maybe we can make it into a webcomic, a story with some pictures, etc…
so if you’re interested in maybe writing, character development, art, editing, ect, then please reach out!
Anyone with a good memory... or has a keen interest in unique stories? I've been looking for someone to tell my whole-what I've got so far-of the story so far. But none have even made it past the protagonist. Is anyone able to be a buddy who could listen and give opinion on the work in writing?
ETA: I've found some takers and don't think I'll have bandwidth for any more. Thanks so much to everyone who reached out!
Hello! Not looking for a co-writer but rather someone who has their own project and would like help with accountability.
I'm an okay writer but struggle with self-consciousness and perfectionism when trying to write. I recently started writing a story and have gotten through a few paragraphs, but my pace is excruciatingly slow because I keep procrastinating and overthinking my prose.
I hope that having a buddy going through the reps alongside me will encourage me to speed up my pace. It would also be nice to meet a potential new friend since writing tends to be such a solitary activity.
I'm writing a fantasy story (based on a tabletop RPG campaign that I'm running). My preferred genres are fantasy and science fiction, but I'm open to connecting with people working in other genres.
My goal for an accountability partnership would be to chat on Discord and encourage each other. Maybe even do co-working sessions where we write at the same time.
Bonus points if you're really into the craft of writing and want to not just finish a story but also edit your prose to make it the best it can be.
If any of this resonates with you, send me a DM!
I'd like to start publishing a webcomic in early 2025, and for that I need to find at least one writing partner. I draw and I write, but I need someone equally creative, who at least enjoys writing, to accompany me in this project. The main thing is to finish something without spending too much time on planning or the outline. Because sometimes overthinking leads me to be too much of a perfectionist and never get things published. It's a very chill project, just to be satisfied with doing something. I've got a few ideas about the story I'd like to write about, but there's so much to develop.
The genre would be period drama/romance, heavily inspired by the Rose/Jack dynamic of Titanic. So my partner in this project has to be a fan of those genres, obviously.
I'd be more comfortable on this project with a Woman, 25+.
If interested, contact me via private message 🙇♀️
Didn’t post any drawings recently, but if you'd like to get an idea of what I do, here's my ig account

I don't mind a beginner... but it'd be cool to find someone who likes writing and is passionate about stories like I am to talk with! I've been in the search of someone who's willing to hear me out... as I think I'm making a great story, but newd someone's opinion on every part of it(like characters or arcs), it would be sweet!
I’m Ion (24M) looking for a female creative partner around my age who loves writing and can draw. I want to build a shared, interconnected universe inspired by things like Murder Drones, SCP, DC, Marvel, anime, and more—mixing original ideas with familiar worlds. In other words, I want to collaborate on original and fanfiction-based stories set in a vast, interconnected universe, where different characters, worlds, and narratives can influence each other. I value honest teamwork, open chats (even video calls), mature storytelling, and using tools like AI to spark our creativity. I’m after someone who’s comfortable handling a wide range of themes (including darker topics), who can bring genuine depth to female characters, and who’s open to making this a real friendship rather than a distant collaboration. If this sounds like you, let’s connect!
I am looking for individuals who are interested in participating in a highly detailed, ongoing, text-based adventure where we collaboratively create a story using large language models to guide the narrative development. The concept is straightforward but deeply engaging: I will act as the gamemaster, crafting a unique world and setting up a scenario for you to interact with. As the player, your role will be to decide what action your character takes in the story by replying with your chosen action.
Here’s how it will work in practice: each day, I will send you a detailed email, typically 1-3 pages long, describing what has happened in the world in response to the action you took the day before. This email will function as a narrative-driven simulation of the story's world, where the characters, environment, and events evolve based on your decisions. As the gamemaster, I’ll oversee the entire process, ensuring that the simulation remains consistent, realistic, and filled with compelling challenges to keep the story interesting. However, the twist is that I will use a language model, such as GPT-4o or Claude 3.5 from Anthropic, to help narrate and expand the simulation. This allows for rich storytelling and immersive, finely detailed scenarios that bring the world and its characters vividly to life.
I’ve done this kind of collaborative storytelling with others before and found it to be incredibly fun and rewarding. For this round, I am especially interested in running a story where you take on the role of a tribute in The Hunger Games. The adventure would begin with your character being chosen at the Reaping and would follow your journey through the games. That said, I am also open to exploring alternative story premises if you have a compelling idea you’d like to pitch.
If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, please send me a direct message to express your interest. The process is simple: you’ll commit to playing one turn per day by responding with an action your character takes. I would prefer to work with people who are able to make this a daily habit, as consistency is essential for the story to unfold properly and reach its full potential. While the time commitment is relatively light—likely about 30 minutes or less per day—it is crucial that participants can commit to this effort every single day. The most rewarding stories are the ones that develop over time, spanning several months, rather than wrapping up quickly in just a few weeks.
About Me: Hi all! I’m a 33-year old female writer. I have a few novellas out, all fantasy erotica, and I’m planning to break into the romance world with a new pen name. Outside of writing, I play a lot of video games, love cooking, and have a wonderful fiancé.
What I’m doing: I’m working on a MF PNR about a dragon shifter. It’s very light in tone. The work is in its planning and pre-writing stage (I’m still worldbuilding and I have the first part of the outline written.) The book will have explicit scenes, but I don’t need to send those to a partner if the partner is uncomfortable with them.
What I’d like: I would love an accountability partner where we can talk about our ideas, get feedback from each other, and keep each other on track. I tend to flit between ideas unless I’m kept on track and I really want to finish this one. I’m open to people working on projects outside of my genre and I’m open to reading NSFW works.
An original story posted for fun, small-ish (10-20k words), posted on AO3 and potentially other sites if we feel like it. This would be a standalone adventure that could become part of a series of such. 18+ required, ideally older than that, as I'm in my 30s.
A bunch of worldbuilding: Cyberpunk world with sci-fi elements (spaceships, cyberbrains, weapons, electronic warfare) and a little bit of fantasy (spirits that can be contracted to do specific jobs {house cleaning, using telekenisis to attack enemies, disrupting electronics, etc}).
A general idea about what I want the story to contain: Action, combative romance between a man and woman, pining, hidden identities, a little bit of body horror, a monster or two (AI, Spirit, Fleshbeast)
Eventually (not in the first instalment, but there would be hints of what's possible): Explicit sexual content, polyamory (between a man and multiple women {maybe with a femboy or two tossed in for flavour}).
Characters, plot, and actually writing the thing (trading off scenes/paragraphs/whenever we get stuck passing it to the other person, etc)
So yeah, if you're interested send me a DM.
I'm quite young so I have plenty of free time to dedicate towards writing. Recently, I’ve been captivated by the idea of collaborating with others—it seems more fun and could significantly boost efficiency.
I want to create a fantasy story featuring an intricate, hard-magic system grounded in axiomatic rules, paired with complex character dynamics reminiscent of Breaking Bad or AOT.
Let’s start with the many catches: I’m an aging (37) single dad with limited time and energy and ye old ADHDs running amok on the time I’m able to harness towards my own projects. I’m protective of my own mental health and I don’t know to what degree I’ll manage to be consistent in any kind of writing help exchange.
But I want to try.
I have two writing projects:
-A series of shower-thoughts turned essays on mankind, mental health, economics, politics, life and everything else. They exist as jumbled notes in a bunch of documents. I want to develop them and connect them all towards a coherent thesis about how to move past the deadlock our societies seem to be in.
-A fiction project that’s been on a forever-backburner. I have all of a dozen pages and a handful of ideas about where it could go. It’s meant to be a low fantasy, high stakes comedy/adventure with some shared DNA with Pratchett, Jeff Smith's Bone, maybe The Gentleman Bastard Sequence books? I have yet to outline the plot or really even identify the core of the story I’m trying to tell. This is probably the project that would most benefit from outside support and accountability.
I love thinking about stories and storytelling, and I’d love to lend a hand with whatever you are working on. I also spend an inordinate amount of time reflecting on mental health, self-esteem, self-love, and self-actualization, probably because I’m somewhat new to my own. In perusing r/writing it seems like they’re considerations that a lot of aspiring writers need to explore and maybe I can help a bit if that’s something you’re also musing about. Or forever hold my peace if it is not. I’ll hold it. It’s held!
I dog paddle in Eastern Standard Time waters and would prefer someone with similar-ish geography (not necessarily to meet in person but so calls are an option without too much headache or contortion). I have no strict objections about age but would probably be a better match for a fellow old like myself.
Hit me up if any of this sounds like something you’d like to work with!
Looking for someone who would be interested in collaborating with me. Reply here, or send me a message if you can. Thank you!
Hello all! I’m Marli, 35 year old SAHM with a very particular request. Ever since I saw the Wicked movie and re-read all 4 books, I am desperately craving to be in Oz.
I would love to play with someone who has read the books and could incorporate more of it back in. I’d love to play out alternate endings for Son of a Witch or Out of Oz.
Short of that, I’d love to either play out different possibilities for how the story could go, or to play out past the ending of the musical.
—you MUST be over 18. Prefer 25+ —3rd person, past tense. —I play on discord. I can be convinced of writing on docs and having a discord server for keeping track of everything and chatting. —If you’d like to be friends, great. If not, great. Don’t make it weird. I write with anyone of any gender. —I write both genders and all sexualities. I like playing multiple characters. A full cast is more fun than only focusing in on one couple. —I am happy to include OCs if they make sense within the world, but I would want to keep some (or all) of the canon pairings in this case. —I like to be able to have some back and forth, but I will wait on replies for someone who gives well thought out ones. I’m EST and have some availability throughout the days (and honestly nights). —I prefer quality over quantity. Sometimes a scene needs a paragraph or two. Sometimes it needs to go well over the character limit. I don’t need needlessly flowery wording just to meet a minimum. Especially conversationally between characters.
If you’re interested, please contact me and let me know what your experience with the material is (book, musical, movie) and what / who you’re interested in playing.
Howdy everyone, I'm KJ and I recently finished my first novel story. I'm unsure whether to continue the MC's journey from the first story or write a separate story but with an overarching narrative set in the same world. The narrative is loosely based on Indian movies such as Gangs of Wasseypur, Lokesh Cinematic Universe, KGF and many other Indian cinematic universes. DM me if you're interested and if your storyline matches with my narrative, I might consider adding it into the world.
Hello there,
Today I am looking for someone to exchange works with. I am interested in sci fi, fantasy, urban fantasy and historical fiction. Generally darker is better for me but I do enjoy light stories too. I can give comments on your dialogues, descriptions, characters and general story. I also want to chat about story and character ideas with you, as well as other stuff.
I am currently writing dark urban fantasy short stories with monsters. Be warned that it contain dark themes and lots of blood.
We can also both act as accountability partners to give each other encouragements. Hopefully, in the end we would be a good friends. If you are interested in send me message about yourself and what kind of a book you are writing. See you soon:)
(I prefer to chat in discord)
Hi, I am twenty years old, male, and my favorite genres are science fiction, fantasy, and crime. My favorite genre is science fiction, and that is the genre of the story I am currently writing. I am looking for someone I can talk about ideas with, and we can also talk about what is currently going on in our stories and help each other fix certain aspects of them. If you are interested in being my partner, feel free to leave a comment or send me a message.
Happy Friday Reddit!
Here I am (not replacing anyone) but hoping to find that spark now that the weather is changing. I have over 15 Years experience and consider myself Semi - Adv Lit.
I am female, from the United Kingdom (GMT) and am over 25 so ideally would want the same age range (25+) from my partner. Doesn't matter your time zone. Not only do I work from home (so have untold free time), I also suffer crippling insomnia. So yeah. That's fun!
Realism is my bread and butter. Whilst I love watching Fantasy and Sci-Fi, writing it is not for me. I prefer modern settings, with realistic characters. But without the boredom that so many SoL's can bring. Wanna add horror to our romance? Sure! Wanna add a mystery? Cool! Wanna keep it sickly hallmark esq- am in! .
I prefer the organisation of Discord, and will only write 3rd. 1st gets to confusing to me... OOC is more then encouraged. This needs to be ours, right? I want to start from the ground up, plot, discuss and plan. Don't be put off if I throw out Reference Pictures, and the like. I am a super visual writer, but I do not expect the same back...
Erm..... Might be it.... Please tell me your favourite animal in your message, so I know this has been read! And I look forward to creating something delicious with you! DMs over Chat please.
Please- like every other post I see here, do not write me Hey Lets Rp. You will be ignored, simple as that. IF you cannot put the effort in to an opener with me, you will not put the effort I expect in, when writing together.
I also will not waste our time- if I do not think we will sync, then we wont sync-
And I cannot stress enough, how much you SHOULD NOT message me if you are going to vanish in a day or two. Happens to often, and frankly, doesn't leave the best impression. Again. DO NOT message me if this is not something you are going to put effort and time into. Also, please realise if we you have messaged me prior and I HAVE NOT replied, its because I don't think we will work, so please don't continue to do so. Harsh sounding I am sure, but unless there was a legitimate reason we stopped talking, I don't want to waste either of our time.
If we have connected before, please reach out again, as I have had MAJOR Discord problems of late so could well be that we need to reconnect :)
Ghosts or Pyscho's need not apply. :)
ADVISORS TO THE DAIMYO
*[07:37]*Kagemusha (Spymaster) (yokai only) *The Stronghold Territory uses spies / shinobi on a very regular basis. They have an impressive spy network throughout the continent.*Tasks
The spymaster is as it sounds. They're a master in gleaning information and have a large network of spies who are planted all over the continent, but mostly concentrated in areas of great interest (such as enemy territory, and the Kaminaga territory where Enrai's son is training).
Gathers intel (i.e. surveillance, espionage, and so on)
Assesses and analysis the danger/risks involved in operations
Reports their findings to Enrai
Advises in communication/information strategy (i.e. how to distribute the information they gather, such as hold onto it themselves, give it to the highest bidder, and so on) as well as infiltration strategies
also advises in managing crises relating to intelligence/operational failures
Basically in charge of their shinobi/ninja network as well as anyone else who falls under this category. However, they report to Enrai. They can't make big decisions without consulting Enrai first, or without getting Enrai's consent/command. Also, being the one Enrai, Enrai is above them in their own field when it comes to the chain of command and can/will take charge of their spy network directly whenever he sees fit (which hopefully is not often at all, because why havea spymaster at all at that point)
*[07:39]*Karo (Sr. Advisor) (Yokai)Tasks
The senior advisor helps with daily governance, foreign affairs, and helps negotiate/communicate with other lords. They are the among oldest of the lot and have a lot of experience under their belt. They are also like a close family friend to Enrai and his family. They specialise resource managment.
Advises on all manner of issues from political strategy to economic polices, and even militaristic operations though that's En's specialty.
Admin Oversight (i.e. land, resources, taxes & finance managment)
Succession Planning
Diplomacy
Creating & implementing policies (i.e. laws of the land)
RETAINERS TO THE DAIMYO
*[07:48]*An Older Gentleman (yokai, species open) This retainer is considerably older than Enrai (though he doesn't know it). A turbulent sort, he very much worries about appearances: like what will people think if they find their anti-human/yokai co-existence daimyo consorting with the humans? In private, he may voice this worries in the form of questions, but in public he is the picture perfect of obedience and would never say or do anything that might reflect poorly on his daimyo. He, too, is anti-human/yokai existence. In fact, he doesn't like humans at all. Since coming to the human realm, he's seen nothing but slaughter on their end. He thinks the humans are a cruel sort that wish to exterminate anything different from them. He laments every time Enrai is friendly with a human. He does NOT know about Enrai's excursions out into public on his own in a human incognito glamour. He just knows that Enrai vanishes sometimes, and it stresses him out lol. He'd be a fun sort if you'd like to play a turbulent, potentially neurotic worrywort. He was/is probably a shinobi or samurai or something like that (edited)
*[07:54]*A Yuki-Onna (yokai, species pre-determined) Unlike the older gentleman, the Yuki-Onna is a little more carefree and fun-loving - she's also on the young side, somewhere between her 20s and 90s. Though she does have her concerns from time-to-time, she's the type to not voice them until she's had a while to think and process her feelings. Sometimes, this may lead her to productively bringing up her troubles, but sometimes she keeps them bottled. But over all, she's a bright, happy young woman. As with the others, she's anti-human/yokai coexistence as well. Though she doesn't hate all humans as passionately as the Older Gentleman, she would rather they be far, far away so that they can forget about them. As a younger yokai, for her it's more fear of the unknown. She'd need to some combat under her belt, but she doesn't need to have been a Shinobi or Samurai if you don't want.
OTHER NOTABLE PEOPLE WITHIN THE STRONGHOLD
*[08:08]*To be updated later This one will come from a small event of sorts.
*[08:09]*General Samurai The warrior class and the bulk of the militaristic powerShinobi Another warrior class, and the bulk of their spy network Monzeki Monks/Priests who mediate the daimyo and the matters of religious/spiritual stuff of the territory Jige lower officials who handle administrative tasks like tax collection, record keeping, etc Machinushi Leaders of towns or villages Common Folk
Kenshi Samurai who act as regional inspectors and maintains order within territory - basically police
Farmers
Smiths
Fishers
Merchants
Millers
Scholars
Gleaners
Priests and monks
Artists
If you can think of it, the stronghold probably needs it, just know that red light district stuff is illegal in the stronghold territory
Looking for someone to write with to get motivated to actually write my novel I’ve been working on. My definition of a writing buddy is reading each other’s drafts chapter by chapter and giving each other feedback and just a general interest in the story itself.
About the Novel It’s a thriller mystery with some horror elements I later plan on illustrating. (It’s currently unnamed) The novel is about a man who was wrongly convicted and imprisoned for the murder of his wife getting out of prison and searching for her true killer to prove his innocence.
About me 21 F I’m the creator of the webcomic “Don’t Play With Broken Glass” My writing typically contains several queer characters I’m also an artist so I probably will end up drawing my favorite characters from your story from time to time
Im fairly active on both discord and instagram PM me if you’re interested !!!
For a while I've wanted to start a Fantasy worldbuilding project for no reason other to see how detailed of a world can be created when a whole team of people works on it together.
I've had zero ideas for it, and I have no idea what kind of direction it could take other than the vauge idea of "high fantasy world".
Discord is the easiest way to organise something like this so that's what we'll be using. If you're interested comment or send me a DM, but only if you think you would genuinely be able to commit to something like this, it would be a shame if the whole thing became inactive after three days.
Hey guys! My name is Leo and I'd love to dm over discord to try and keep up a daily focus on completing our novels. I'm just looking for one person who is starting their novel to keep accountability with and see our projects to the end!!
