Hello there writers of /r/WriteATale.
Welcome to the second 'Monthly Announcement' of WriteATale.
This month's announcement won't be too long, because we just want to give a small update in regards of last month's announcement.
First of all, we want to thank you all for getting this subreddit to 900 members!
Just a quick explanation for new (or returning) members about the current state of the subreddit.
We are currently trying to get the subreddit up and running again. We also started the new 'Monthly Announcement' posts last month to get our members a bit more information about the current state of the subreddit.
We changed some small stuff around behind the scenes, like the automoderator, post and user flairs, styling and more. We're still working on the subreddit's traffic, which has increased a bit over the last month.
Thank you all for reading through this post, and we hope to see you again next month. Take care!
Kind regards,
The /r/WriteATale Moderation Team

Dear writers of r/WriteATale,
I’d like to invite you to r/literarycontests, a new sub for calls for submissions to literary contests and publications. We post calls for submissions for all genres, especially fiction, poetry, short story, essay, nonfiction, and self-published books. The organizations whose calls we post include journals and magazines, anthologies, and foundations, niche and mainstream, both in print and online, from all over the world. We prioritize established contests with low, or no, entry fees, which offer cash prizes and publication opportunities.
r/literarycontests is updated daily, and all calls for submissions are tagged by genre. The posted contests have all been vetted by the writers’ resource organization Winning Writers, one of Writer's Digest's "101 Best Websites for Writers" (May/June 2019 issue). The mission of r/literarycontests is to connect writers with the opportunities that will help their development both in craft and reputation.
Members of r/literarycontests are encouraged to contribute calls for entries that fit the standards listed in the sidebar. All submissions are approved by me, your friendly mod, in order to ensure consistency in post formatting and contest quality.
So, welcome along to r/literarycontests! I think a lot of writers don't realize how many opportunities, especially free opportunities, there are out there to submit work. We would definitely like to see the number of writers making use of these opportunities grow. Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you around the sub.
All the best, /u/winningwriters
I was just a lad when they came. I was home with my big sister, while my parents were away.
I awoke in warm sand. The ocean roars behind me. I survived the storm. Alone. Broken ship pieces surround me.
The moment I realized that this place I was walking through was not actually my hometown was when I saw

My heart jumped shoulder. My nerves twisted. “Are you ready?” She grabbed my hand and opened the colossal double doors.
I woke up to find that my arms were missing! I walked to the bathroom to get ready for school.

Hello Writers,
We have just finished our first version of the subreddit's AutoModerator and added auto post flairing with it. You can know use the tags: "[META] and [SERIOUS]" in the title of your post. Also if you now start a story post the mod will auto assign the "Ongoing" flair to your post.

Silently I stood, feeling the warmth of darkness breathing down my spine. I knew He was there, sheltered in darkness.
His shadows dance in the moonlight on these empty streets. Gazing with emerald eyes, searching for any form of life.
Instead of this I think we should just leave comment after comment
Spaghetti, sat at the table to enjoy. Tasted good, amazing texture. Would share the experience with others. It's very nice.
Around me is a burning crater surrounded by soldiers. “Subject located, Alpha team moving in to apprehend”
It was like looking at an old photograph, and the moon hadn’t moved in hours. Who are you again?
It’s 0400 at FOB Gridiron, fully loaded AH-64D’s start spooling up as the sun seeps over the snow capped mountains.
"Captain, what do we do?" Stella shouted. I grabbed the control board as the plasma blast tore through the hull.
Today is the day i will go hunting. I grabbed my sword and went to the forest on my horse.
Walking, walking, walking. Endless. Their only sensation the stomping of dirt and leaves underfoot. Their existence could entail nothing else.
