I shared this design with an incredibly talented maker. I'm happy to own it.
So, I want to buy Rorschach figure. Something official. Is there any good international sites?
Instead of having an “ultimate weapon” drop on a city, in a reference to Hiroshima and Nagasaki, it’s having a rogue actor commit bombings all over the world, in a reference to attacks like 9/11 and 7/7.
Considering that America created Dr. Manhattan, and that al-Qaeda was formed from the ranks of mujahideen fighters who received funding and training by the Americans, then I think there’s something to this.
Snyder also had a lot of 9/11 imagery in Man of Steel, which shows a consistency in his art about this topic.
I mean, the Doomsday clock has literally never been closer to midnight. Where is Ozzy when you need him?
Edit: I WAS BEING SARCASTIC I DONT ACTUALLY SUPPORT OZYMANDIAS OR HIS PLAN
Ozymandias is stated to be the smartest man on the planet and he is arguably the best fighter in the series (perhaps barring Comedian in his prime) so what is his IQ and how many martial arts does he know? My estimate is that his IQ is 250, this places his IQ above Einstein’s 160 the same as (which is the same as Stephen Hawking’s) and is also high enough that is justified Dr Manhattan’s acknowledgement of him.
Martial arts is tricky but I’m assuming he knows Boxing, Kickboxing, Karate, Judo, Tae Kwan Do, Wrestling, Ju Jitsu and Kung Fu.
What do you think?
"In spite of Moore’s efforts to make Rorschach hard to like, the character’s inflexible moral code and refusal to compromise his principles turned him into the book’s star. In the gray-toned ambiguity of Watchmen’s bleak moral universe, Rorschach, with his dogged determination and clarity of purpose, was closest in spirit to the classic comic-book superhero."
Wondering if anyone else noticed this?
In the film King Kong, the titular character is shipped to New York and put on stage for the world to see. A group of photographers take his picture but the flashes confused him, leading him to escape and go on the rampage.
I couldn't help but think of the parallels with the similar Dr Manhattan scene in the comic. Am I totally reaching, or do you think this is the kind of reference Moore would include, consciously or subconsciously? Are there any other similarities between the two?
This playlist is an awesome analysis of the book. I highly recommend it.

I noticed while watching the show that Looking Glass is a more like a positive character, despite a couple of dilemmas and his sad lifestyle. And thinking about it, I would like to know what you think about his role in this show is, given that he does not seem as man with controversial worldview as the other Watchmen characters.
I have a question, it's been a while since I read the comic. But is there any other scene where Rorschach is an asshole? I remember I realized how hypocritical he was in the scene where he defends the comedian for the rape. But apart from that scene, is there anything else in particular?
I'm asking because Moore says he's horrible and that we shouldn't like him, but it's complicated when in many scenes he seems to do the "right" thing, like the scene of him killing a pedophile, seriously, it's a pedophile, couldn't it be a less heavy crime to make it easier to see the character's facism? So, with that in mind, do you have any other scenes that scream how much this character should be hated? Apart from the rape scene, which is a big red flag?
Edit: Thanks to everyone who responded with examples. This was very useful to me, I'll pass it on to a friend too who needed to be reminded of many of these scenes. Thanks guys!
I’ve loved Watchmen for a long time. My favorite line probably is the “I’m not locked in here with you, you’re locked in here with me.” … but I saw somewhere that is also a Bruce Lee quote? Lee died in ‘73 long before Watchmen. Did our leader Alan Moore steal this line? If so, makes me a little sad. Was this a common saying that I was unaware of?
When you find yourself in a room surrounded by your enemies you should tell yourself ‘I am not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me. ‘ This is the kind of mindset you should have if you want to succeed in life. Get rid of that victim mentality. - Lee
...look like he's 65~ at 106 years old?! Like, Jesus!
Title basically.
All the comments I've seen about the ultimate cut is that the animated parts of Tales of the Black Freighter don't fit well into the story and ruin the pacing. And I have to say, I didn't enjoy those snippets of the tale in the comics either, I wanted to get back to the main story.
I'm planning on getting the movie on DVD. I've only seen the theatrical cut until now, but I'd like to watch the extra scenes in the director's cut without the Black Freighter stuff.
Does anyone have the DVD? Is it possible to play it, excluding the animated bits? I guess I could just press skip on the remote when they come up, but I feel that would just be slightly annoying.
Edit: Thanks for your answers guys. I also found out the ultimate cut has some extra bits in like Manhattan's time on Mars and the Bernie's at the news stand. The ultimate cut version was on a multi buy deal with another movie I wanted so I just went with that. Guess I'll just need to have the remote handy to skip the black Freighter bits when they pop up.
Maybe I've just been reading Watchmen too much, but it looks a little familiar. Eddie Blake, does this belong to you?
Or is regret or is he an emotionless monster.
I bought the DVD for it recently because it looked cool for 4 bucks even though I've already seen the first batch of chapters on HBO Max, and it wasn't the greatest to me, the acting wasn't great and only one guy was voicing all the characters including silk spectre, but I'd like to hear your guys thoughts.
I know that the common reason cited for Rorschach’s awful personal habits is that he’s too busy attending Rorschach’s singleminded goal of dispensing justice to bother with the personal hygiene of Walter Kovacs. Not to mention, it shows his antisocial personality—he doesn’t care if he repels people due to his stench because he doesn’t care to fit in with the general populace.
But a thought occurred to me.
Could his strange aversion to showering/bathing be partially due to his sex repulsion? Nudity (even his own) might unnerve him because of its association with sex, even when it’s occurring in a totally platonic context.
To be naked is to be vulnerable, which he’d also hate—if he views Walter Kovacs as weak while fully clothed, those traits would be magnified while in the shower.
Not to mention the more obvious fact that his nakedness might entice him to masturbate, which might also repel him.
Or maybe I’m over-analyzing! 🤷♀️
