I totally missed it the last two nights. Will the aurora be visible again tonight? And if so, where's a good place in the NRV to view it?
Freshman here. I attended one of the COE commencements and wondering what are these colorful stashes some graduates were wearing. Some had more than others.
I just finished my junior year and had what should have been my best semester yet with all A’s and B’s except there was one class that In hindsight I told have W’d and I ended up failing it.
My cumulative gpa hasn’t been affected but I’m pissed at myself for not W’ing and getting a really good semester GPA and raising my cumulative gpa. Anyone ever been in this situation?
Not really looking for advice cause there’s nothing I can do just wanted to vent at myself.
What is the requimrent to pass english 1106 if I'm an industrial design major?
UNSURE if requimrent to get credit for ID majors in ENGLISH is ANYTHING ABOVE an 'F' or if it needs to be either c/c-
had a 82.3% but my grade j dropped drastically - family emergency and had to forcefully summit essay early :( crying rn
That started back in my year in 2014– is still happening?
Hey yall, I’m an electrical engineer wanting to get a minor in Physics. I’ve taken physics 1 and 2 and will be taking the ECE EM Fields I and II which transfer to the physics intermediate EM I and II. This only leaves me with modern and an elective for a physics minor. The modern physics material really interests me. Particularly relativity and quantum. To get this minor before I graduate I have to take Modern this semester.
My question is: as an EE that did mediocre in physics I and II:
Input would be very very helpful. thanks for your time. :)
I want someone who can give me some information about the system. So far all I know is… greeting, marching. The fact that there are different units etc… can you be my little guide. I want to know some information. Thought I can understand y’all might be restricted to telling that information. I’ll be an incoming freshman this fall. Mostly, I just want to know what the day to day life is like as a new cadet.
I have a bachelors of science in Cybersecurity from ODU and i am looking for any kind of experience and i am incredibly desperate for ANYTHING at this point. I have a other full time job that is not related to my degree. Is there anyway to contact anyone at school to help me just get experience?
First, that you to whoever was running that these last few years. It was fun and, I hope, a service to some. It must have been hard work balancing that with classes and whatever else you did. What I'm about to say isn't meant to be critical of you and your work, but just looking to the future.
To everyone else: I understand the person who ran it just graduated and doesn't want to give the account to someone else. Fair enough. I hope someone takes up the mantle and creates a new one. If so, just some suggestions for making it even better:
View it as a service to the community. So many awkward college students are too afraid to make a move for fear of rejection. An anonymous way of reaching out to people benefits them, their potential partners, and (assuming success) builds self-confidence.
Be consistent. Life happens and this fun side project takes a back seat. But when someone is trying to find that special someone from the bus or coffee shop or Torg earlier in the day, it's kinda hard to make that connection when the post comes out 6 weeks later.
Have and publish set rules and standards, follow them, but publish posts that might be a little more risque. No one is naive enough to believe that sex isn't a major part of college life. People want to hook up. Think old school Craigslist. Of course, make sure there's nothing that would constitute harassment. There's a balance, but I think some past censorship may have gone too far/been based too much on one person's opinion about what's OK.
Make it a team effort. It should be about serving the community, so let the next version be passed down to people who want to take it over. This would also help with #2 if one person gets too busy/bored with it; and #3 in determining what posts have gone "too far."

Hi everyone,
I was looking through my Fall 2024 courses, and I noticed that I had Dr. Seyler as my professor for Microbiology. I looked at his reviews on ratemyprofessor, and they looked pretty low, especially the recent ones. For those that had him as your professor, what did you think of him? Were you able to come up with any good study strategies to pass his class? Any advice is appreciated!
I just finished my first year with a second year standing. I take a lot of PSCI classes for my major, and I need to take like three 3000 PSCI classes next semester, but couldn’t enroll in them because I’m only of sophomore standing. Does anyone know when I will be changed to junior standing? Because right now I’m only in 2 fall classes and I want to make sure I’m squared away for the fall.

I was just enrolled in one of the final classes I needed to graduate, but I dropped it to see if this other class also met the requirement because it was something I was more interested in. After seeing that the new class I picked up did not meet the requirements, I tried to add the other class back, but it said it was full. I should be able to get force added back but I'm really nervous.

Does anyone know if theres a cyber security class or bootcamp at tech?
All my friends have been hyped and excited about graduating but I’m not really feeling anything? I’ll be walking today but I technically won’t be completing my degree until I take two more classes this summer. I have my dream job lined up to start this summer as well. I’m also first gen so my family is super excited to see me walk and they are so ready to celebrate but im just not feeling it. I’m thinking it might be my imposter syndrome that just doesn’t believe it. I also just feel weird and undeserving of the celebration because I’m technically still not graduated… but I don’t want to look back on this moment and regret it for not enjoying it and being happy. Idk anyone else?
Wow not having to go to class really hits hard. I'm laying in bed right now reflecting on all of the lessons I've learned, friends I've loved, mistakes I've made, my successes, my failures, and the fear and excitement of a new chapter, among other things.
I've loved this school. I wouldn't trade my time here for anything in the world. I was going to type up this long elaborate message. But the one thing I want incoming freshmen (or anyone for that matter) to know is to just go up and talk to people.
I know that's wayyyy easier said than done most times. But this is the time where everyone expects to meet people, especially freshman year. Looking back, going up to people and trying to get to know them, in many settings, was scary until I actually did it. Whether or not it went anywhere, I felt accomplished by trying. I had a lot of social anxiety early on in college, and having the mindset that everyone is an NPC so might as well just go up to them and see what happens or what kind of side quest appears helped a lot. I made a lot of friends doing this.
I know how lonely freshman year can be. Talking to people can be scary, but I PROMISE that it will lead to good things. Friends, networking, maybe someone who you think is cute, someone who may be in a cool club you never would have heard of without going up to them, the possibilities are endless.
College is about establishing and maintaining relationships just as much as it is about academics. Often the two go hand in hand.
That's my one piece of advice. I have many others but this one clears in terms of importance. Go out, introduce yourself, embarass yourself, because maybe someone else needs a friend too.
I love yall. Enjoy it. Go hokies.
Hello y'all, ChemE here! I have thinking about taking Analytical Chemistry as a technical elective. What is it like? Pros and Cons? Do I need a textbook for the class? If I do take the class, what are some tips and tricks to succeed in the class? Thank you!
Did those of you that did roommate matching at apartments get roommates to your preference? Did you guys become close friends?
Is it related to magnetic storm?
I have done everything to get into this school please this was my dream. I’m so scared I’m gonna go to a backup with no friends at a campus I don’t like
I am currently needing to take circuits and devices this summer. I am trying to take the class at Nova however, I need diff eq. The circuits class starts 7/2/24 and the diff eq class that Nova is offering is currently closed. The biggest problem is I am having a hard time finding another college that offers diff eq before 7/2/24 to get the credit transferred. Does anyone have any idea as to what I should do?
