From a Facebook post:
"In the 1870's, the Dallas State Fair & Exposition, a precursor to the State Fair of Texas, gave an award for the best set of gold teeth to a young dentist newly arrived from St Louis named John Henry "Doc" Holliday! At first the award was a boon for the Doc's new practice, which was located on Elm Street. But business suffered when Doc's coughing fits tipped patients to his tuberculosis.
Holliday looked for another profession and he found one in the Julian Bogelis Saloon! At the time, it was estimated that Dallas was home to more than 100 professional gamblers. After being arrested for gambling in 1875, Doc moved on with his friend Wyatt Earp, eventually landing in Tombstone, Arizona!"

Would love to visit Tombstone. Love the history of the Wild West. Im based in Europe so I will not drive. Is there a bus that can take you from Tucson to Tombstone? I understand that there is a Airport Shuttle of Phoenix that can pick you up and drop you off anywhere you want. They have a website and you can make a reservation. How reliable is this? I think it costs around $300 bucks Tucson-Tombstone round trip per one person. I know there are a lot of Tombstone tours from Tucson and Phoenix, but I want to stay a few days to explore Tombstone on my own. Thanks for your help!
Heading back to AZ this coming October and it just occurred to me, based on current plans, we will be in Tombstone for Halloween.
We've been in Scottsdale for Halloween before but as adults, never been with children.
Curious to know what might be going on in the town, decorations or events, particular houses and streets to look at. In the UK it's not a massive event at all.
Me and my bff are going back to Tombstone early March. Last time, we stayed at the Larian and LOOOVED it, but I’m Wondering if there’s a spookier place to stay? Somewhere preferably within walking distance of everything.
Hello everyone!
I’m a genealogist & I am trained in discovering local Arizona family lineages and stories through historical records.
LINK TO INTEREST FORM: Family History Interest Form
This is the interest form I put together for anyone interested in learning more about their Arizona family history. I research & create family trees, historical road trip itineraries, ancestral maps, etc! It’s a super cool way to connect with your own history and great knowledge pass down to future generations.
Here are some things you can discover from my research:
If you are interested, please view the interest form at the top with some examples. 🙂Instagram w/ reviews: heritage.hunters
If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message! For those of you with ancestry outside of Arizona, please send me a message. I’d be happy to help you or direct you to a better suited genealogist. Thanks!
Been traveling for a while, just got out of the army and have fell in love with the area, if anyone knows of any jobs or somewhere hiring I’d love to stick around!
So I'm visiting the area and wanted to check out Tombstone, but I understand Helldorado is a huge thing this weekend and all the RV parks are booked up. Anyone know if I'll be able to find somewhere to park around town to visit? Figure I'll just f off into the desert and boondock after.
What should I expect? Any advice?
My mom lives in Tombstone and just broke her hip, so won't be able to drive for a while. Before I send her back to Tombstone, I would like to have a few things in place, but first would be a way to get groceries delivered to the house -- and since the USPS just goes to the Post Office, what options are there? If she ordered via Walmart.com, is there anyone who would tote her wares back from Sierra Vista?
you're not wearing a bustle.
Is there anywhere we could park up a camper van for the night around the Rose Festival, without causing too much trouble? Not a full blown RV, more like what you'd see on https://www.reddit.com/r/vandwellers.
I’ve found my home, finally.
